Stay here often as work nearby - I love the place from its feature in The Italian Job, but it feels tired and dated now. Refurb is underway - look forward to seeing how it turns out. The breakfast is always disappointing for the price but the size of rooms, and the views!! Makes up of it
"Noisy during refurb"
I took the view that staff are having a difficult time and trying to be helpful in difficult circumstances. I had booked via company system and requested a quiet room (nothing in system advised work was ongoing). I checked in during afternoon to prep for a meeting and recalibrate quiet room given I could see work in hand...I was assured I had a quiet room on 5th floor away from floors being refurbished. After 30 mins I have in and went out as noise from refurb work made it impossible to concentrate. I was advised that noisy work would only take place 9-5 so I didn't change room on basis evening dinner would mean I would be out until very late and 9am appeared ok for 8.30 wake up. Construction noise started again at 0730. Bed comfortable. Shower nice and powerful and hot but bathroom dated and very small, particularly toilet to radiator distance. You know staff finding it difficult when they don't ask how was your stay when you check out.
"ArTea afternoon tea was great"
We only had the afternoon tea at the hotel, and it was a great experience. We spent several hours there and had a good time. The staff took very good care of the children including allergy concerns. They were very generous in bringing out the teas and the snacks. My son was very happy to see the tower of cakes and sandwiches and even more so when he realized the whole thing was only for him! Definitely recommended for a great afternoon tea experience.
"Not worth the money! "
Came to London for the weekend for my birthday. The room was outdated and the bathroom was tiny. The toilet so close to the radiator that you burn your legs when using it. Overall the room was okay I guess. The breakfast on the other hand was awful! We paid £20 each for a cooked breakfast and when arriving there was only continental on the buffet and the cooked breakfast was brought to the table. When we sat down it took someone 10 minutes to ask us if we wanted any hot drinks and then another 10 minutes to actually take the breakfast order. When they arrived with the tea we were given a small pot of tea between the two of us which was enough for one small cup each. Another 15 minutes later when the breakfast arrived there was 1 slice of bacon which was like cardboard, 1 hash brown which had been cremated making it fly off the plate when trying to cut into it (it had probably been sat under a heat lamp for a while no doubt) and to top it all off it was cold. It wasn't worth a fiver let alone £20!! We were also never brought any toast to go with it even though we were asked whether we wanted brown or white before the breakfast came out. When we were attempting to grab the attention of the waitress as they were walking past we were ignored. Before leaving I left some feedback on the form in the room and also replied to the e-mail asking for feedback but no reply to either!! Not even an apology. Therefore I wouldn't recommend this hotel at all you can get a lot better for your money at the Hilton!
We stayed here last night and were absolutely satisfied. We booked this hotel, because its close to hyde park and yes it was little bit more pricey, but for it qas worth it. Staff really helpful and room was great with a city wiev. Loved the mini bar :)
