"Great overnight place near airport"
Booked this hotel as arrived in the wee hours. Shuttle (free) pickup time spot on (every 20 mins). Room is big and bed comfy. Very nice bathroom with big tub/ separate shower. Wifi was good. My only problem was that the air conditioning can't be adjusted to cooling as it's in heating mode so it was a bit hot. Catching the shuttle back to the airport was equally as hassle free as getting onto it.
"What a Pity..."
Work brought be to Beijing and a I needed a 5 star hotel close to Beijing Capital Airport for one night. I made my reservation directly with the hotel (on their website) and chose to pay extra to secure Club Lounge Access. My flight arrived quite late on a Friday evening, and I took the complimentary shuttle bus to the hotel. I arrived at reception at approximately 11:00pm, and this is when the trouble began. It quickly became clear the hotel had accidentally given my room to someone else who had a similar (Western) surname. I even saw his photocopied ID on the desk as the staff scrambled to understand what had happened and how to fix things. The person serving me was apologetic and gracious, and this was the only thing keeping me calm given the high price I'd paid to book a Club room and the fact I was very jet-lagged. After around 10 minutes I was finally given a key to an upgraded room and a sincere apology was provided. I trundled away with my bag and found my room. Sadly, the electricity didn't work and the lights went out around 30 seconds after I'd entered the room. It was clear the key slot by the door was broken because it was loose. As a result, there was no power. I trundled back down to reception, now very weary and somewhat frustrated. The same very nice receptionist immediately issued me a new key for a new room and I finally made it to bed around midnight. The next morning I had breakfast in the lounge, which was fine. I had been given a late check-out so I went back to the lounge when it was time to leave. As I had a few hours to fill before I had to leave Beijing, I asked if it would be ok for me to stay in the lounge for a while. I was politely but firmly told I could stay, but I would be charged if I ate any food or drank anything other than water. Seriously' I tried to explain that I had arrived at midnight the night before so had never actually enjoyed the evening drinks and canapes which were included in my booking. But the language barrier got in the way, and I eventually stayed for an hour, sipping on water as lovely food and drinks were brought out for everyone else. The hotel itself was lovely, and I wish I had it enjoyed it more. Sadly, I didn't.
"A super hotel of comfortable design!"
The Langham Place Hotel offers terrific value for money and is in very close proximity to the airport. We arrived into terminal 3 and easily followed the signs to the hotel courtesy buses. There were a lot of buses waiting, and as we weren’t too sure which was the correct bus for us, we showed a driver the Chinese character name of ‘The Langham’, and he promptly pointed us in right direction. The bus ride was less than 10 minutes away and we were warmly greeted on arrival by reception staff. Our room was super large, of split level design, with multiple relaxing areas. We had a downstairs sitting area with a TV, bar fridge, coffee & tea making facilities, and a WC. Upstairs there was a study, another TV and very large, modern bathroom. The bath was huge as was the shower. All beauty products were provided i.e. shampoo, condition, soap, dental kit, razor kit etc. The king size bed was extremely comfortable with quality linens. All in all, we had a fantastic quiet, comfortable night’s sleep. To top of our wonderful stay, was the magnificent complimentary breakfast. Everything you could wish for was on offer. I am talking the very best of western foods through to traditional Chinese food. Super delicious! Free wifi and bottle water was also included our room rate. This would be a perfect hotel just to hang out in for the day too!
"Impressive and a good sleep"
I've stayed here a few times, always in transit to another destination. It's proximity to the airport was my main reason, it's about 10 minutes walk from terminal 3. What I like about it is the rooms are huge and clean, very comfortable beds with blackout blinds, and zero noise from airport. Very good value (about £100 per night) for the quality of hotel. Be aware, if you don't have a Chinese visa you will have to use the 72 hour visa free option, which can take up to an hour to negotiate, and the queues are so slow. The other advantage is the late checkout time of 2pm, which is VERY civilised, and I often stay until checkout if I have a later flight, and it saves hanging around the airport. One thing I would like to suggest though is that they do something about the gym, it's comparatively tiny, just a small room with a few machines, and no changing or showering facilities. It took me about 10 minutes to walk there right through the hotel, with my sweaty gym kit on. The hotel should have showers and changing facilities for the gym ! Apart from that, I highly recommended this hotel.
I stayed here after arriving late evening and had an morning flight to catch. Shuttle from Terminal 2 and back was punctual and comfortable. However, for first time visitors, the bus stand is not very obvious especially when it is dark. Check-in was smooth. Room is spacious and comfortable- very glad that it was not noisy at all considering the proximity to the airport. Did not have a chance to try the F&B but the ginger tea served at the lobby was the perfect tonic for a tired traveler in the winter.
