We stayed for 4 nights across Thanksgiving. The Empire State suite was perfect for 2 adults and a 12 year old. Plenty of space and the deepest bath tub with a great view of the Empire State Building. The highlight of the hotel was the service. Flawless from start to finish. What a rare treat to use the word flawless when describing service! Jonathan checked me in and provided personalised service throughout the process. I was early and the room needed to be checked before giving me the key. Jonathan showed me to the bar, arranged a drink, made sure I was comfortable and then returned to get me when the room was ready, keys in hand. Housekeeping was excellent, extra bathroom products were provided upon request. The sofa bed was turned down for my niece each day, and extra cookies delivered for her when asked - she was delighted. Frank on the door was a pleasure to speak with and could not have been more friendly or helpful. Despite part of the hotel being closed for refurbishment, the service meant this made no difference. The bar did a great job of serving hotel guests despite being primarily set up for Al Fiori, the Michelin starred restaurant. The location is ideal for tourists - in the heart of Midtown with everything accessible. This is a first class hotel, extremely well run and with a team of people who genuinely care about guests. I spend too much time in hotels for business and the Langham New York stands out above the crowd for its impeccable service. Thank you for looking after us so well and making this a very special trip!
The bed was wonderful, we really slept well. The room was spacious, well decorated and very clean. We heard almost no noise from the other rooms or from the streets. The service was really good, and so was the TV.
The location is excellent - easy walking distance to the major attractions. I would say this hotel is more for business travellers. Disappointing housekeeping-items in bathroom werent always replaced neither were the coffee and water. Had to call reception on several occasions for replacements. For the price we paid - which is top end, I expected more attention to be paid to ensuring rooms were better stocked. I would have preferred a walk in shower cubicle to the deep bath which was not easy to get in and out of and a door to the toilet so it was not open plan with the bathroom.
The location is perfect, the service meets all expectations and amenities are all you could wish for. I have been to the hotel before a few years ago and went back again and the service and room was as good as before. I can highly recommend it. I did not want to leave! Great way to spend time in New York
"Great Midtown Hotel"
I stayed at a Langham Hotel in Shanghai a few years ago and found it to be one of the finest hotels I've ever stayed in, so when I saw this Langham property in NYC, I decided to give it a try. NYC Hotels, even the high-end hotels, tend to be old, cramped, and run-down. Not this one. The rooms at the Langham are quite spacious with large, well-appointed bathrooms. Our room was also very quiet. The staff was attentive and excellent, from the front desk to the housekeeping staff. The location is also excellent, easy walking distance to Grand Central Station, Penn Station, Macy's and Rockefeller center. The only minor complaint was the bed...it was a low, platform bed (no boxsprings), and wasn't particularly comfortable. I'd certainly recommend it, and I'll look at the Langham first when I book my next trip to NYC.
