"fun city break with teenagers"
Spent the weekend in Lausanne as a treat for teenagers who have been working hard and school and wanted to do some shopping. They really enjoyed the Lausanne Palace...the friendliness of the staff, the luxurious junior suite, the pool. The Brasserie Grand Chêne was already booked out when we arrived, so we ordered room service from their menu and were served in less than 30 min. Later in the evening we went down to LP's Bar for dessert. Dinner and dessert were both impeccable.
"Below expectations - Separation man/woman in Spa'!"
We booked a room in Lausanne Palace & Spa, we thought to spend a romantic weekend benefitting from a complete spa inlcuding indoor swimming pool. But... beside the swimmingpool the sauna, hammam etc. was separated man/woman so there you go romantic weekend. I guess to many emirs are spending their money in the hotel and in order to comply with their cultuer it applies their rules... probably something like that, anyway next time we will check before booking Besides that the hotel room was poorly equiped (no coffee machine, no boiler to heat water for tea), the comfort of the bed was avarage, the runiture old, ... But the personal was very nice and helpful.
"Historic hotel in Lausanne "
I know this hotel for 11 years and come here every time when in Lausanne. Throughout the years there were many changes and unfortunately the service has deteriorated quite a bit throughout the years. The Havana bar still offers a nice and cosy atmosphere however the brasserie restaurant has become worse. The service isn't prompt and the menu barely changes. New dishes that are introduced at first are delightful however the longer the stay on the seasonal menu with time the quality becomes substandard. Would recommend Havana for live music and cocktails (high prices) and Cote Jardin restaurant for Sunday brunch. Overall good hotel, great location, the rooms are nice and clean. But there could be room for improvement in the service area.
"Eternal Value in downtown Lausanne"
There are two main assets in this Lausanne destination: 1. the view fro the rooms : of course South rooms face the 'Lac Léman' (sometimes called Geneva Lake) and feature a 'corniche' effect that will make you believe you are facing Napoli golfo, San Francisco Bay Area or another outstanding viewpoint. Upon floor 3 (of rooms levels) and above are the highlights (I staid there many times and at different levels - look up 'Palace prestige' card which is of very high customer value). Paradoxically and contradictorily to may first statement cheaper rooms facing North are also attractive: the City view on Grand-Chêne street is indeed also attractive and sometimes the interior design of those rooms (tip: look for East angle ones). Discounts are important and amenities are the same (see below). 2. the amazing abundance of cafes, restaurants, buffets and leisure areas: there are 6 eating or f&b areas at Lausanne Palace, and it is seldom in Switzerland to find so many points of sales at one hotel. This diversity allows you tis spend 3 days with exciting new menu discoveries. My favorite one is and was always 'Côté Jardin which offers a very flexible choice on its incredible buffet. It will be very interesting on the future to see what the new ownership of Beau-Ruvsage Palace on Lausanne Palace Estate (both centennial competitors in Lausanne) will feature: perhaps yu are the next ones to describe it'
"Friendly Palace in a City"
At the last station of our trip to Switzerland, this hotel in Lausanne was the best place to end our journey where we enjoyed the consolation and the luxury this place offers. With a lovely suite, which has a big balcony overlooking the Rue du Grand Chêne, we savored our last moments of a long and busy day of our trip. This hotel is in the center of everything in Lausanne, where nothing is far away. The interior of the hotel is very well-fixed to the eyes with a simple but solid decoration. The staff is very friendly and well informed about their tasks. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at this hotel if I get the opportunity to visit Lausanne again.
