"Quiet and a little out of the way."
Le Meridien, as part of the Starwood stable can never decide of the fall into the W-lite or Westin-like category. The common areas here are modern, the rooms standard, classic. The cosmetics by Malin&Goetz are lovely. The front desk and back office seem poorly managed. There was confusion around my booking, despite presenting a copy of the reservation confirmation and there was often a several person deep line at the desk. the concierge desk was never occupied when I was there, Wednesday, Thursday. The location, 400m further along the Alster from the Atlantic Hotel is good for the bahnhof and art gallery and 10-15 mins walk to the rathaus. The price was a bit high for a midweek, early winter stay and this was reflected in the hotel being pretty empty
"Hotel is lovely but the rooms and hall way decor are oddly coloured"
Nice location, great staff, and amazing bar on top with stellar views of the city in front help dull the awful colours of the hall ways and room decor. It felt like I'd checked into a luxury boutique clinic for elective surgery. Hallways are like a hospital. Rooms are 'funky' but not my taste - too gimmicky. Breakfast is included and is delicious. Behind the hotel is a neighbourhood filled with shops, restaurants and pubs. Check them out on a walk through.
"Really good rooms, excellent location"
I was slightly upset upon checkin, as I did not get anything despite being Gold with them. I was hoping for an upgrade ... However, upon entering my standard room, I understood that an upgrade was not really needed. The room is very large, comfortable, and elegant. Ditto for the bathroom, and all amenities. Perhaps a lake view would have been nicer, but other than that, there is really nothing to complain. Spacious, bright, elegant, with comfortable beds, expresso machine, nice and large TV, a beautiful bath tub, all top-notch really. Location is fantastic: right by the lake (really a river, as any local will tell you), perfect for a run in the morning. Two steps away from Lange Reih, with several options for dinner. I have nothing bad to add. Le Meridien has been running some aggressive pricing scheme lately, and it is very worth considering it for your next Hamburg trip. I have not tried the restaurant, or the breakfast, but it is probably worth trying it out, if nothing else because of the lake view from the 9th floor.
I stayed in this business hotel in mid-november. The best compromise of the hotel is its location, it is 10 mins by foot to Altstadt and Town Hall. It has a great view of Alster Lake. Especially, you will enjoy this astonishing view while you will have your breakfast. The rooms are big, clean and oh I loved the bath tube very original. The food for lunch and dinner was also very good. And finally I have to add the hospitality of the staff, they were quite helpful and always smiling during my stay. It was a very satisfying stay, hope you enjoy as much as I did...
I recently had the opportunity to stay in Le Meridien Hamburg for an evening. It was a quick ride from the train station and a little further from the airport. The hotel was very clean and modern and that theme was carried throughout the rooms and bathrooms. Our room has a small balcony overlooking the lake across the street which was very pretty. Location-wise, the hotel was just a few minute walk to the pedestrian mall with shopping and restaurants abounding. Upon check in, hotel reception was able to make my friends and me a great restaurant recommendation near the working port. Additionally, our room came with a free breakfast which was in the restaurant at the top of the hotel which provided a beautiful view. The breakfast was also very tasty. I definitely would recommend this hotel.
