"Not the usual Starwood Standard -Disappointing"
Poor check in. Weren't met when arrived by car. Too many interns working at this hotel and staff not fully trained. There was only one bath robe provided and we had to ask for another. Our son had to move room as AC not working properly. The property is tired and money needs to be spent. Our hot water wasn't working for the first couple of days. The breakfast had limited options - no mango, coconut, fresh juice choices limited, pastries and bread choice limited. Saved by fresh eggs cooked to order. Overall, disappointing service and quality similar to 3 star. Khun Fah offered complimentary spa treatment and also tried hard to make sure we were looked after. Without her assistance, it would have been even more disappointing. Location - beach is shingle (not sandy). Even the bar staff were trying to hurry us for last orders as they were looking to close at 10.30 - when it should have stayed open until 11.
"Kind Staff, Beautiful Views"
Just recently stayed in a plunge-pool suite for the past week at Le Meridien, and I would like to say how wonderful all of the staff were to me and my boyfriend over the time we were there. Thank you to George, Sam and all the Latitude 9 staff for providing such wonderful and kind service during 6-8pm happy hours. The Celebration of the Day (7:19pm) is very pretty and great to take part in. The rooms are large and the bed is incredibly soft, and the air-conditioning works wonders. The only issue is that the outdoor bathrooms mean you get bitten by several mosquitos every time you go to the toilet (I DEFINITELY recommend bringing tropical strength bug spray). Otherwise, the rooms are absolutely gorgeous and provide everything you could need. The views from the restaurant for breakfast in the morning are fantastic, with the large pool and gorgeous beach in the background. If you ask the front desk for anything they are happy to help - one male staff member recommended us some great restaurants we would have never considered going to - but they were fantastic! So thank you to the man who frequently visits The "Imchai" Restaurant located 600m walk from the hotel. If you like to visit sights, I recommend hiring a car from the rental car shop opposite the hotel (1000thb for 24hours), as taxis can cost 1400thb to get to most shopping areas from the resort. Other than that everything was great, so thank you again to the staff at Le Meridien for providing me with such a nice holiday!
"Disappointing - not 5*"
OVERALL We had high expectation having stayed at the Banyan Tree Bangkok before arriving at Le Meridian but wished we had continued our stay at the Banyan Tree Koh Samui. Despite displaying the hotel as a 5 star property, this is not the case. The staff tried their best however this is not up to Le Meridien standard and you could see that no one from Le Meridian had visited in a long time. We upgraded our room to one with a plunge pool before arriving which was a bad idea! The rooms are small and don't feel clean. The bathroom is separate to the bedroom, meaning you had to cross a wooden deck outside to reach the bathroom which is in fact semi-outside. The bathrooms therefore felt dirty as insects and mosquitos could easily get in to all areas. I appreciate there are lots of mosquitos in Thailand but this design/layout doesn't lend itself to this. We eventually moved to a pool side room which do have inside bathrooms. The plunge pool was freezing cold and had brown patches in areas which meant we didn't want to get in - such a waste. The general public areas are not well maintained and the cleaning service trolleys are constantly parked on the garden lawns. Not a pretty sight. We were unfortunate enough to experience bad rain in January but the hotel is not equipped for this. They use white bathroom towels on the entrances of the public areas as a safety slip feature which quickly become brown from guests walking through. Surely they could invest in a better solution. The jetty/desk on the website looks stunning however in person this is not the case. The beach is not large enough to accommodate sun loungers and in fact disappears when the tide comes in. There is a dumping area next to the beach on the hotel groups where they keep unused furniture (not a pretty sight). We visited the W Koh Samui and Banyan Tree Koh Samui whilst on the island and would recommend these instead as these are definitely 5 star properties.
"Beautiful resort, wonderful staff, great experience overall"
After researching many different properties in Koh Samui, my partner and I stayed at this resort for 4 nights in April. We loved every second of our time here and were so happy we chose this resort. The location is about 25 minutes from the airport and 20 minutes from downtown Chaweng. The resort offers shuttles both to the airport and downtown Chaweng. There is also a nice, smaller town within walking distance from the resort -- Fisherman's Village/Lamai When we arrived at the resort we were greeted with cool, damp, scented towels as well as two welcome beverages. Check in was a breeze and the staff was exceptional from the moment we arrived. Our room was a beautiful villa that overlooked a semi-private pool. The shower and bathtub were in a private, enclosed outdoor room which was really neat. The room and bathroom were beautiful and smelled amazing --due to a lemon oil candle that the turndown staff lit and refilled daily. We did leave the hotel a few times, but spent the majority of our time at the resort. The food was delicious. We started our day with coffee and breakfast overlooking the pool and beach. We then had drinks and lunch poolside, and then ended the day eating dinner out on the pier. All of the food was great, as were the drinks. We enjoyed going up to the lobby bar every night during happy hour where Nuning made the most refreshing, and strong, gin fizzes. The majority of our time was spent relaxing at the pool and on the beach. We went kayaking twice with the hotel's kayaks, but would have liked if the hotel had paddle boards available as well. The pool was wonderful and it was great to relax poolside with a drink in hand overlooking the beautiful beach. The pool staff was exceptional, as was every single employee at the hotel. The hotel manager, Malinat, went above and beyond to make sure that our stay was absolutely perfect. They treated us like royalty. While staying at the hotel there were three weddings in the evenings on the beach and they were gorgeous--what a perfect place to get married. The hotel also has a great, relaxing spa where you can get a message and various other treatments. This was our favorite stay during our entire time in Thailand. We were so relaxed and happy. The hotel was beautiful, luxurious, and the staff was amazing. I would highly recommend the Le Meridian Koh Samui Resort & Spa to others and we hope to stay here again in the near future.
"Slice of paradise"
Visited this hotel to attend a friends wedding. After many hours travelling, three flights with lengthy transfer times, we arrived at this tranquil oasis. On arrival we were given a refreshing drink and cooling herbal face clothes. Our room on the second floor was amazing, comfortable balcony seating area, large space room dressing area, we had yet to discover our bathroom. Wow! outside shower area, huge stone bath with seating area all made for our spa experience with incense and candles to greet us. the staff at this hotel were both friendly and attentive to all our needs. Breakfast was served in a spacious room on two levels with views overlooking the pool and sea. There was a wide choice of food and drinks to cater for all tastes. There was also a room service many available 24hours.
