This is a beautiful hotel, brilliant staff, beautiful rooms and great food...we loved our stay here.Comment of D. Esther , Australia the 2014-07-31
We booked 2 Beachfront Villas for 10 nights for a family holiday and the overall experience was very enjoyable. Whilst the villas are a little dated and requiring some minor repairs, they were extremely clean and all the staff we encountered were wonderful and a big part of a memorable stay. We dined in the main restaurant on the first evening where the food and service was excellent. Our only criticism is that the pool and bar area is quite small for what you would expect for a 5 star resort and the main entrance to the front lobby is strangely designed with many steps to go up and also down from the lobby to the rest of the grounds which for some might find awkward. Overall it was a great choice to stay there and given the perfect location between Chaweng and Lamai, the wonderful staff and the size of the villas we booked, will definitely consider staying there again in the future.
"Nice Hotel and excellent service ..."
Me and my husband stayed 4 nights at Le Meridien Koh Samui Resort & Spa in the beginning of october and overall we enjoyed our stay. The Hotel itself is located at Lamai Beach only a short drive away from the airport. When we arrived, the whole staff and especially the Hotel Manager welcomed us very friendly and we felt they really did everything that we had a nice vacation. Unfortunately - this was the first SPG Hotel (and we have been to many) where we did not get a room upgrade as platinum members. It seemed that the Hotel was fully booked mostly from chinese people due to chinese holiday.. Nevertheless they gave us a nice clean room on the first floor, with half-outside bathroom and terrace, minibar and air-conditioning and TV. The pool area was small but nice. As many rooms have their own shared swimming pool I guess they designed the main pool a little bit smaller, but for us it was ok. It is also located directly at the restaurant at the beach, so before we had breakfast it was great to take a short swim in the morning. The beach - just to mention a few words - was really well maintained and clean, the water looks beautiful. We took everyday strolls in the afternoon and but did not go into the water. The tide is really very low, but the main problem are the jelly fish. Actually you can forget about swimming here, there are warning signs everywhere as there might be poisonous box jelly fish or man-o-war jelly fish in the sea. Breakfast was good, yet nothing special. Friends who stayed at the Le Meridien a few years before already told us the same, so our expectations were not that high. Nevertheless, for our short stay it was absolutely sufficient. We never had dinner in the Hotel, we always took a short walk to the village where you can find lots of great restaurants (Thai food, pizza, Steak…). Be aware that there is no walkway for pedestrians so you have to walk on the sometimes very busy main road, which can be dangerous especially at night, so the most convenient way would be just to take a taxi. Overall, we had a really nice stay, enjoyed the overall friendly service of the staff at the Le Meridien Koh Samui and can recommend this Hotel for short stay guests, but due to our personal experience (the very high room rate we payed, no SPG platinum room upgrade and limited breakfast options) we would probably try another hotel next time.
As we know that chainwe were sure we made the best choise.. the hotel is beautifull but!! The rooms are sooo small imagine queen size bad and a place to put 1 lagguage. That's it. The rest room with the bath is "outside" so every time you want to go there you have you feelthe humidity with the smell of the liquid they put because there are soooo many moskitos everywhere!! The room wasn't so clean and we had to ask them to come and clean again. The spa is poor. Nothing to do in the hotel. No intertament and its far from everything. I suggest to find another hotel...
"a small place of paradise & ZEN feeling in the whole area of LE MERIDIEN"
Despite other comments we read here on TripAdvisor, we have nothing to complain about. The whole personnal, from LE MERIDIEN Team is very friendly and during the whole day they ask (when you cross them on the area) you if everything is ok. We stayed there for 2 weeks and this small hotel (I think there are just 77 rooms) is a small place of zen paradise on this small island of SAMUI. We were always lucky when returned from outside (Chaweng, Lamai) to come back on this peaceful place, also during the nights. A special thanks to the GM Mrs Sawanee, the kind responsable lady of foods and beverages, Mrs Nes Cara and the security man in front of the main door, for their special friendship & the good discussions during our stay ! When you will find a quit peaceful place, don´t hesitate, it will be a good choice! Last but not least there are a few things to know, before you going to LE MERIDIEN. > there is just a small beach strip & no possibilitie to go to the sea cause of the jellyfish. So the alternative to stay there with small kids is not to recommend. There is a daily possibility to take the hotel shuttle (10 min) for the Silver Beach, a beach more interesting
"Excellent as always"
From the reception - where your bags are taken and you are offered a refreshing drink and a cooling cloth - to the final bill (exceptionally good value I thought) - our second stay at this hotel confirmed that it is a great choice. The room was wonderful and the food in the restaurant was perfect as ever. All the staff are friendly and anticipate your needs at every turn. I made use of the 2 for 1 offer in the Spa, it's more expensive than other spas but I haven't found one I prefer to the experience you get here. Whilst the hotel is right on the beach it is sufficiently far from the louder parts to be relaxing but close enough to wander there should you want to (or get the hotel car - much more comfortable!!). A delightful hotel with fantastic staff offering an exceptional stay.
