Came here for a congress. The hotel's location is excellent. Structure is bizarre because this is 2 hotels in one with a Mcdonald thrown in. Meeting rooms are nice and service is competent. Breakfast is good overall but good juice would help. Excellent bread. We had a courtyard room. OK but no more. Nowhere to sit down either to work or to relax. Only a tacky plastic stool. Not enough light in the room or to read : this is unacceptable. Empty fridge. No niceties such as kettle or iron. In short disappointing for what is meant to be a quality chain hotel.
"Average hotel: not as bad as expected as based on other experiences noted on TripAdvisor. "
This hotel lays on a perfect spot on the Boulevard des Anglais in Nice, near to the old center. I had a room on the fifth floor with a small 50 cm balcony with view on the see. The hotel is a bit outdated. The rooms are big and comfortable. The minibar contains little, expensive products and is closed when you arrive. You should call room service to open it for you. Room service serves simple but good meals. The bed is big and had a hard matrass and is supposedly old. The pillows are small and, for me, a bit uncomfy. I experienced no noice from outside while sleeping. You lay in the deeper part of the bed, where the weight of other costumers still is noticeable. The breakfast is nice with good coffee. The service in the hotel is good. In conclusion: this would be a nice 3-star hotel.
"Best view in Nice"
We had the Suite Presidentielle and it just was breathtaking ! Worth every single euro ! The view on the mediterranean see was absolutely fabulous, the suite is spacious, pretty well furnished and allows to sun bath on its long balcony, just in front of the see Food was great, but don't expect to use the pool :-/
I travel a lot for work, so can compare La Meridien to many other 4 star hotels: Staff 9/10: Staff was very friendly, nice and always smiling, always offering assistance with our child who's 7 months old. Had to ask for a crib twice though, asked for a fan which never got delivered (was very hot), but one of the members went through trouble to come outside with me and show how to get to the parking. Staff was very nice everywhere from cleaning ladies to reception and waitresses. Cleanliness 5/10: halls were dated and in need of repair so was bathroom. We had deluxe with sea view room. Room was very clean on arrival, but during our stay for 4 days I believe the room was not vacuum cleaned even once. I've stayed in many other same type hotels and even in lower rating cheaper hotels they hoover ypur room everyday... we have a kid who crawls everywhere and it is important that the room is hoovered and it must be not on request but on regular basis. Otherwise halls and restaurants were very clean good on that. Facilities 6/10: Not rating gym as I haven't been there. No parking, have to use the public one, but on booking it says they have one that is just another trouble you want to avoid arriving late at night. No kettle or teas coffee in the room. I am comparing to a much worse hotels in Nice (been in many of those), guys, no kettle with tea and coffee is a shame! You must adress the issue and free of charge and I don't have to request it. No conditioning! I understand it was november, but with sea view we had sun all day long with open window it was about 30 degrees C... and no conditioning! I understand you are cutting costs but you are not the hotel that is supposed to do that! Conditioning was a very important issue and was the only thing that actually annoyed us. Swimming pool is a bit laughable being in the center of the restaurant. Minibar locked. Restaurants quality is a bit worse than expectes for the price, but just a bit, burgers were very good, NEVER order carpaccio was terrible. Location 10/10: not much to say here, probably the best location you can get in Nice. Perfect.
"Two different opinions of this hotel."
Excellent location but only stay here if you have an outside view room. Recently stayed here and despite it being a chilly day my room resembled a sauna. When I asked to have the window lock removed to get some fresh air I was told this wasn't allowed as guests may choose to jump out of the window. I was informed that the a/c wasn't working during the Winter months and was provided with a fan.The noise from this resembled a jet engine. My view was of a courtyard with very little natural light. The only positive comment to make is that the staff were very pleasant but sadly couldn't do anything to improve my stay.
