"ONE OF THE BEST"
my wife and 2 young children stayed in the 2 bedroom suite we had the full board package which i would recommend.the pools are great and easy to go between beach and pool.the kids club was excellent the staff are great.the food was all good and staff are friendly and helpful cannot speak highly enough of our stay and will be back again next year.we travelled in wet season but only rained once was a lot windier than when i have been previously but could just be the season it just made the ocean rougher than what it has been previously so beach not as friendly for some people this time of year but suited me as there were plenty of waves.there is no great need to leave the hotel unless for day trips but if you want to get out patong is only 5 minutes away and there are shops and massage parlours just near the front entrance only a short walk.
"Very average resort"
We had 2 pool view rooms here for 3 nights and I would rate 2.5 stars if I could. This is the first time we stayed at Le Meridien chain and regretfully the last time too. Not good: - Hotel rooms are old and they look tired. - The room soundproof is bad, you can clearly hear people talking outside. We got rooms on level 5 for the first night and my parents were disturbed by the footstep and noise of chairs being dragged from the room above them. I requested to be moved to level 6 (top floor) and Saii, the manager was very kind to move us up. However, the rooms on level 6 were not given to us as initially promised by 4pm. We got the rooms at around 4:45 pm. It was inconvenience because we already packed and was ready to go out. - The restaurant's roof near the pool was under refurbishment and we could hear the noise from the rooms. - The breakfast selection was poor and more importantly did not taste good. It was also weird that they put cereal in a stainless coffee/tea jug and it was hard to ask little children which cereal they want since they cannot see what cereal is in there. The latte was pretty bad, it had powdery texture and tasted like instant coffee. - Nothing special being a SPG gold member here, just got free in-room wifi internet. - Cocktails also were not nice, we had apple mojito and blue azul. The mojito was too sour and the blue azul was too sweet. - No more baby elephant on the beach - When we requested a transportation to Jungceylon mall, the transportation staff told us that there was a fire drill and the mall was closed until 2PM. We did not believe him and went regardless. We got to the mall at 10am and it was business as usual. The staff at transportation desk were not as friendly too. Driver was good though. - My parents ate at the Japanese restaurant there and they said it was average and pricey. - Bathroom amenities were like those in 3-star hotel. The good: - We loved the private beach, probably the highlight of that resort for us - Very nice pool and lobby area - Staff were friendly in general, except the transportation desk staff as noted above. - They gave us an anniversary cake and also a birthday cake for my daughter. - The manager sent us 2 plates of fruits as a gesture of inconvenience they have caused during our stay. The fruits were appreciated but a discount on our total bill would have been much appreciated. - Kid eats free for every meal here as long as you have the kid's stamp card. For the price charged, I do not recommend this resort at all and will definitely not come back here.
"Appalling hospitality - one to avoid"
Having been in Phuket at Kamala beach for two weeks at a large, well-known 5-star international brand property, I felt like a change of scenery and to stay somewhere else on the island, so decided to check out Le Meridien. I approached the gate where my intent was questioned - I noted that I was planning to stay there and wanted to have a look at the property. I was told "it is private, sorry Sir". I said, "I know, it is Le Meridien" and re-stated my intent. I was told, in no uncertain terms, that I was not welcome to enter. I hold Diamond status with both Hilton and Hyatt and spend upwards of 100 nights per year at their hotels, as well as a recent pleasant stay at Le Meridien in Croatia - I have never experienced treatment as poor as this. On the upside, it made my decision as where (not) to stay much easier. On the downside, as well as reflecting terribly on this property (to which I will never return), it tarnishes the brand overall and I will be extremely reluctant to pick another Le Meridien in my travels. I suggest this property is avoided until they learn how 5-star hospitality should work and how to welcome prospective guests.
"Great 3 night stay"
Stayed here for 3 nights at the end of our Thailand holiday with my sister, her husband and my 5 year old niece. Overall, thought this resort was very good but there were some very minor things that lets it down Positive: - Great location, very close to Patong beach but away for it all. You can get a taxi from reception for about 300bht each and then we came back each time via a tuk tuk, which are great fun - Great facilities, plenty of space around the pool, good service for food and cocktails, really nice gym and a good variety of restaurants - Rooms were good, we have a sea view, nice products within the bathrooms - Italian and Thai restaurants were extremely good - On my nieces 5th day they supplied a small chocolate cake with her name on it for no extra cost and sang her happy birthday - a very nice and appreciated touch Less positive - Found the wifi a bit flow and at times quite annoying, don't expect that these days in 5 star hotels and even on Ko Phi Phi we have great wifi - Water in the gym, there was only very small paper cup things, not good enough if you are on a treadmill, please supply either a decent cup or bottles of water - No water around the pool, you have to buy it, fine this was one of the cheaper hotels we stayed in but it is still 5 star, every other hotel / resort supplied water - The restaurant near the pool was average food, only use if you need too, although they did great drink - Buffet breakfast a bit chaotic Overall, would stay again
"Worst SPG experience/hotel EVER"
First off, this may be ignorant of me, but no one speaks English at the resort. I find it hard to believe that an International Resort with a major affiliation to SPG does not have a single person that can communicate in the largest used language in the world. Secondly, upon arrival the hotel staff was unbelievably rude and did not want to help at all. Furthermore, check-in was an absolute disaster. Mostly due to the language barrier, they tried to charge me multiple different fees and taxes even though I was using SPG award nights. We finally, after two hours, figured out that I was not supposed to be charged. The room was decent, the housekeeper was good. The five restaurants were barely open, only one was open the entire time we were here. The provided activities coordinator also did not speak English. We came to find out that the tours we booked were 2-3 times the amount it would have been elsewhere. I guess that should be expected, but I am still disappointed. I decided to move into another hotel due to the bad service, so I talked to the manager about checking out early. He assured me that I would be refunded the points for the last night that I did not stay in the hotel. Upon checkout, The front desk told me that this would not be refunded. At this point, I was that up and not going to waste another two hours or 10,000 points. Needless to say I will not be returning, and I would suggest you do the same.
