We spent 3 nights in the hotel. We arrived late evening and got a room on the 2nd floor. My preferences are clearly stated in my SPG profile as High floor / away from elevator. The hotel was however fully booked and we were told we would get a room on 8th floor next day. My concern was the noise. When we arrived into our suite we found that the rooms have at least double glazing and there was no noise at all. The next morning the reception staff were ready to move us but we decided to stay. The staff really did all they could to make us comfortable. The rooms are as previous reviews a little tired. They are big and comfortable but could use an upgrade. The location is the best. You can walk to Covent Garden, Leicester Square, Soho and most theaters in a matter of minutes. The Lounge is excellent and does a nice breakfast. The fitness facilities are super. Thanks to the various reception staff who were ever so helpful :-)
I had booked an afternoon tea for me and my daughters (2 adults and 1 child) during the summer holidays. What particularly appealed to me was they offer a children themed 'Jungle Afternoon Tea'. We were warmly welcomed and received a friendly service. Afternoon tea was lovely and were offered a delicious non alcoholic beverage as an alternative to prosecco. Our lovely tray of sandwiches, scones and desserts arrived. Although we did find there was not a good choice of non meat/chicken alternatives to the sandwich fillings. Our tea was lovely but i like it hotter. the stainless steel teapot was a bit awkward as the handle got very hot. As part of my younger daughter's 'Jungle Afternoon Tea' she had a 'cheeky monkey mocktail' which she really enjoyed. She did get as advertised on the website the tiger bread sandwiches again the fillings were very limited choice and the vegetable sticks served with hummus plus . However, her other two trays were identical to ours!! i.e. ordinary scones and jam and desserts. so no :- Rainbow fruit Skewer Chocolate coconut Animal print cookies Banana scone with pineapple jam and clotted cream Decorate your own Snake eclair she was looking forward to this and i have not found a children afternoon tea offered anywhere else so this was particularly something we were looking forward to. I didn't complain or mention to the waitress but it wasn't mentioned that it was not available!!. Waitress did come over once at the beginning to ask if everything was alright but after that no one came!. I don't think you get a top up of hot water for tea or sandwiches which was not a big deal anyway but it wasn't mentioned so i guess it was not on offer as other places we have visited. We were there for a good while. and towards the end after we had finished we waited for nearly 30 minutes before we decided to go the waitress to see if we could pay for the afternoon tea (the adult ones were booked through groupon). Service was extremely slow at the end. It was a beautiful hotel and tea was served upstairs at the terrace grill and bar which in an orangery type roof overlooking the main road in piccadilly. Overall it was still very nice and would go again if the occassion arose. Hope they continue offering the childrens afternoon tea but correctly.
"Good location, tired hotel"
Convenient to Piccadilly Circus and Mayfair, but feels pretty dated. Rooms are functional but not luxurious. Very low water pressure for shower and toilet, creaky floor, some noise into hallway, A/C didn't really cool. Starwood has updated the lobby and pipes in trendy music (they seem to use this playbook often) but hasn't touched the rooms. Both bars/restaurants were mostly empty on two consecutive nights.
"Afternoon to a tea"
Lovely location and restaurant overlooks piccadilly with a Lovely conservatory area. Service a little slow but was friendly and attentive once the tea came. Food was lovely great choice of sandwiches and cakes delicious . Couldn't eat it all but they happily boxed the remaining cakes. All in all a lovely afternoon recommended
"The perfect afternoon Tea!"
We had an afternoon tea with prosecco. The service was great and the food was very, very good (for the taste and for the presentation). The scones with cloatted cream are my favourites!! We reccomend this place for a perfect afternoon tea!
