"Well run first class hotel, not perfect but very good!"
Great location. They let me do both an early check in (to accomodate my flight arrival) and late check out, for which I was very grateful, and the folks at the front desk were very efficient and friendly. Room was nice and clean, but it was noisy--next to the restaurant on the 2nd floor and no view--so very comfortable but no sense of being in London. The included breakfast was good (espresso drinks made-to-order Illy! great smoked salmon! Great fruit) and the event buffet lunch was great. My only complaint was that the concierge/bellman/front desk didn't seem to be working together in alignment and the concierge seemed annoyed when the front desk brought me to the him for help and tried to send me back...kind of a "not my departnment" attitude. I would stay here again.
"Great menu "
I loved the bar menu upstairs . Excellent burger . I have tried their both bars upstairs and lower ground floor . Both have excellent and engaging staff .Quality of beverage and food is very impressive .Although both bars were not very busy during my visit . Bartender upstairs is very friendly and prepares great cocktails .
"Great location, rooms need an uplift"
I have mixed feelings about this hotel. I choose it for the location which is perfect for shopping and restaurants. As a SPG Platinum member, I have to ask for the most updated room on floor 1. I always run into some issues with the rooms - power goes out, no heating, windows don't close all the way and plumbing issues. The club lounge is very good.
We had a sumptuous Brunch, with free flowing cocktails, Brilliant. Great service ,Great location. Good times. Food was a buffet of starters, followed by tapas sized mains all lovely. Pastries to finnish were a bit disappointing.
"Impressive building, but that's about it!!"
This is a fantastic building in the heart of the west end close to theaters, bars and restaurants as well as great access to the tube. However, that's the positives for this 5 star priced hotel! As a diamond member, you always hope you manage to secure at a one room upgrade, but on this occasion, I simply got the expensive but basic room I paid for! I was told it was a better room, with a truly amazing view of the hotel back yard! The hotel management also refused to allow me the option of breakfast in the main restaurant in addition to the platinum points - something that the Le Meridien brand does without even asking across Asia - so I did not feel this was a Starwood friendly hotel that valued my loyalty! The room was basic, small by some hotel standards with good bathroom amenities but only limited to shower gel, shampoo and body lotion! For the GBP250+ for room only, I would have at least expected a dental and shaver kit as a minimum! The galley style bathroom was very cramped and if you are a slightly larger build, the toilet does not have much room! The lounge was a MAJOR disappointment. It was a half hearted attempt, using some mezzanine space that opened directly onto the reception area. It was small and cramped with a very poor choice of cocktail foods and drinks limited to wine and beer! Breakfast was equally uninspiring and my honest opinion is the lounge access is pointless and there are much better hotels and better value in London. Not even the starwood points will encourage us to stay at this hotel again - lovely building, but everything else is a BIG disappointment.
