Close to the ferry building , we were upgrade to a small suite, nice gesture from the front desk, the room was roomy, peak a boo views of the bay, no bedside table, not wide enough but we had a flat headboard where we could leave stuff like iPad etc, bed was comfortable.. Nice bathroom again with view of the bay, nice amenities, the only thing, I wished I had more washcloths, just two of everything, no magnifying mirror, one robe, had to ask for another one, it was promptly delivered. We had breakfast at the hotel, where we realized we could have gotten coffee in the morning, nobody told us it was an option, so we had ordered a large pot of coffee, 31/2 cups, we could have skipped that expense. The service was a bit slow at the breakfast but we were in no rush and the seats were super comfortable. Overall, a nice, clean hotel with professional , friendly people at the front desk. Will go back
"Great location. Easy to use. Expensive."
Summation: When I want a good, trouble-free hotel in San Francisco, this is the one I think of. Pretty trouble free. Clean. Comfortable beds. Expensive. Review: I like this property. Plusses are: clean public areas and rooms, comfortable bed, great showers, high-chair work desk, wired for today's device needs, great location, seasoned staff, great views. Minuses: if you have a connecting room door, you will hear conversations in the next room (can't they tighten up the seals on these doors to attenuate some of the sound'), friendly staff, but they seem a little tired of doing their jobs (can they alternate or shift around to experience other tasks') and this is a very expensive property. I like that they quote a rate that includes parking. It saves money and hassle. It is an SPG hotel, so it will be gobbled up by Marriott and will likely start to look like a Marriott (look for the standard loud Marriott hallway carpeting coming soon!). There will be some goods about this. But don't we have enough Marriott hotels already' If you can afford the tab, stay at the Meridien. You will like it. And enjoy the neighborhood!
Stayed just a day with my wife and cousin traveling through. Being mountain bikers and having to deal with the problems associated with storing our bikes safely and still have a quality stay, it was a great relief to be able to bring up our bikes to the room -- effortlessly and legally. That alone deserves five stars in my book for the common sense and good hospitality. The rest -- room, service and great personalities (Agnes and Kinga) were just icing on the cake. The only negative I can bring up is the high cost of parking. Fortunately I found a good parking place nearby -- it is at Portsmouth Square Plaza and paid just $28 a night.
"Good location, but pricey"
Stayed here as a fam. Hotel more than comfortable...well appointed modern rooms with great fat beds. Very cozy, despite being a very large hotel. Front desk was polite, though not incredibly knowledgeable. Location a block away from Ferry terminal and in the midst of Embarcadero business district. Pretty plain jane business district as they tend to be, but just up the hill is China-town which had some great food. Not a far walk in the least. Tourist hell at the Ferry terminal. Public transit nearby. Gets a 4 out of 5 mainly on price (plus the outside door was a bit testy, but that was minor). The price is high, and irrationally so. That notwithstanding, I suppose San Fran is an in-demand location. Sweet view of the glow-in-the-dark Bay bridge from our 10th floor suite. Would recommend, but try to get a deal through P-Line to make it more worth it.
"Excellence for the Financial District"
Le Meridien hotels can be relied upon to provide good quality accommodation, excellent service and good value. The Le Meridien in San Francisco also benefits from a terrific location in the Financial District that provides easy access to the Embarcadero and great restaurants and wine bars. Check-in was quick and professional and the hotel lobby provides a small area in which to meet people. The room was large, very comfortable, well maintained and laid out with good storage, seating area and a good sized bathroom. The view of the Transamerica Pyramid was also great! As an added bonus, the room provided a terrific vantage point for the Fleet Week Air Display. Very cool! The one disappoint was breakfast; "hot" buffet items that were cold, missing silverware and very poor service.
