"Good room but a few issues"
Had an executive room.. Lovely high floor and room with lovely view of bay... A few stains on the carpet but otherwise clean.. Odd lay out with separate toilet but no hand washing facilities in the toilet.. Very noisy flushing especially during the night.. Duvet cover not changed in week we were there, just turned over and rotated as we followed a visible stain move round the bed.. The executive room I have to say was a little drab..chairs very uncomfortable. Lighting not good .. More stand lamps may give more atmosphere and light.. Would probably be better in summer as the terrace has lovely view but the room itself has none.. One member of staff on at drinks time between 4pm and 7pm and unfortunately at times she was unable to cope and it became a free for all.. My husband had to knock on the staff door to ask for a drink , where she was talking to another staff member. Food very average and didn't get better by being left under heat lamp for three hours.. Maybe put less out initially and keep replenishing. Don't think it is worth the upgrade other than for the lovely sea view room . Strange but no toilets in club room so had to go back to room or to reception.. In view of my last listed comment I find this unacceptable.. Breakfast ok. One large worry I had was that the lift went down to zero level with a door onto street level.. It looked like there had been a reception there at one time but none now.. This door was not locked until 10pm! I worried that someone could access all room levels in the lift without anyone seeing them... Either lock the door earlier or have some form of reception at zero level or have the lift access by room keycard only.. We returned late one evening to find a young man just riding the lift up and down. He was in the lift when the door opened and was either drunk or drugged.. He didn't get out at our floor.. I do not think he was a guest but he was very disorientated and this confirms my concerns about the zero level access..
"Very comfortable and enjoyable stay"
The staff here are great, really welcoming, especially in reception (and thanks too to Tony, most helpful) and ever willing to look after you. We were particularly pleased to meet Louise at breakfast time, she not only catered for our every wish but offered information and advice about Malta, which was really useful. And she is lovely with it! The hotel itself is well kept, we paid for an executive room which we thought well worth it, as breakfast is included - a range of hot and cold food, plus juices, hot drinks and prosecco. A good start to the day. Our room overlooked the bay and the church, the road is quite busy but as the exec rooms are higher floors, noise wasn't an issue. The view at night was particularly good, with all the lights. It was spacious and comfortable, beds are good. Le Meridien is very well located, there are a range of restaurants just outside (we liked U Bistro) and it's a short walk to both Tas Sliema and Spinola Bay, for more choices. There is also free parking in the garage downstairs, a real plus in Malta. Would definitely stay there again, especially if the rooftop pool is open, it looks amazing.
"Great hotel ! Shame about the restaurant "
We came to stay at the hotel as we had a family wedding and it was a recommendation by them. We were not disappointed when we arrived as the hotel looked amazing, you could really see why it was a 5* hotel. The first night we arrived we went down to the terrace restaurant and tried to get a table but were told that we needed to book as the terrace was full. We were however offered a table inside at the bar. We were told to help ourselves to the buffet and that we would have our mains order taken in a few minutes. The mains order was taken after a few minutes as promised but we waited an hour and a half for our main meals to arrive. We spoke to several waiting staff who just kept saying they will go and check but never came back. People next to us came, had their meal and left even before we had our main !! This was the only real downfall of our stay. As for the rest of the hotel, the rooms were cleaned on a daily basis and mini bar replenished if needed. There are two pools and found that the spa pool was exceptional and our 6 month old son really liked it as it was a bit warmer than the roof top pool. The location of the hotel was good as well and you were within walking distance of a lot of shops and restaurants. If we ever went back to Malta we would definitely reconsider staying at the hotel.
"Excellent location and facilities"
A really good hotel located centrally between St Julian's and Sliema with a good choice of restaurants within a few minutes walk. The breakfast was good (Shola, the omelette maker, was particularly helpful and friendly) and the leisure facilities (gym and indoor pool) were good. The water temperature could have been a bit higher! All in all a good hotel.
Stayed on a business trip to Malta and this hotel is on perhaps the busiest area of the island. Despite being the low season, restaurants around had lots of customers and sometimes queues. The room was spacious as weel as the bathroom, featuring a shower and a bathtub to choose from. Maybe the soundproofing could be better, as well as the TV channels on display. Breakfast had an interesting range of choice of foods but for this level of hotel one would expect a bit more. On the other hand, food at the main restaurant (third floor) was quite nice. Wi-Fi worked with some stops here and there throughout the stay.
