"Not as good as last time"
I was here last November and really enjoyed my stay, This time, it wasn't so great. The staff are still lovely and helpful and the wifi is excellent. The food is REALLY letting the hotel down, it is well below par. My room was excellent and I have no complaints there either. The other issue I did have was that I was there over a weekend, Friday night is the Dance show so I knew that was on. On the Saturday there was some sort of concert - no warning to guests. The sound check went most of the afternoon and then the concert in the evening until late. This meant they also closed La Plantation restaurant which you weren't told of until you went for dinner... If you are staying there - join SPG to get the free wifi, and there is a Super U supermarket just up the road which is very good.
"Layover in Papeete "
We choose Le Meridien at last minute for day layover before flight back to Waikiki. Booked the night before. Very comfortable, convenient. Wonderful staff, very friendly. Room was clean and comfortable. Would stay again.
"Stayed before & after cruis"
The entire property and grounds is in need of maintenance & updating. From the sidewalks to the furnishings in the rooms, refurbishment is needed. The staff is generally pleasant particularly the breakfast servers. The pool attendants were often not around to check out or return towels. One day there were no towels as we were told they were being dried. During our first stay, housekeeping knocked on the door at 6:30am '' Sleep quality was not great as the beds tend to be sagging and the roosters across the street crow for hours.
"Family friendly, nice staff... But like sleeping in a night club"
We stayed for two nights and found the resort amenities to be wonderful. The pool is beautiful (but only 3 feet deep), the sandy bottom and artificial beaches are perfect for kids and adults. The resort is considerate for children in that they have lots of support options if you bring the little ones. Babysitting, car seats etc. can be a call away (if you are not told to call back later as they are busy) The ironic thing is that they care about little ones and yet the two nights we stayed, there was live entertainment going late into the evening. Clearly we got it wrong and by the time we realised, it was too late to leave and find another hotel. Having stayed at other resorts in Tahiti and had a great time at those, this was the first time at Le Meridien. As a resort which had such a welcoming attitude to families we believed it would be a great destination to try. What we didn't realise, was that the venue turned into a very loud party spot on the weekends. Live dance experience on the first night kept us all up, but this was followed by an even longer music concert on the second night. There is no area apart from right outside the balconies of the rooms that the stage can be set up. It was a "teeth gritting" experience lying in bed and listen to every hit of the drums, electric guitar solo, and a live singer "riling up the audience" when all you want to do is sleep. It was 11:00pm when they finished, but an absolute nightmare when you are tired and needing to go to bed. Cheering and screaming concert goers were just adding to the "atmosphere". Not sure how their night turned out, but we met a lovely couple during the day who were on a 5:00am flight back to the States the next morning. The last thing they said was they were looking at "getting an early night because it is such a long flight home tomorrow" - I doubt that their goal was achieved. This is not a destination for families, people who have flights to catch or anyone looking to stay somewhere where they can relax. On the plus side, the beds are incredible, linen and pillows are perfect and the food at the restaurants is magnificent (albeit slightly too expensive even for Tahiti standards). Staff are very good and the rooms are pleasantly furnished. There are no tv channels in English, but there is reasonably good water pressure in the shower. If they moved the stage to somewhere away from the rooms I would stay here again. As it is, I would very much recommend this resort for anyone who likes live entertainment and late nights as it is very comfortable.
"Could be nice, but it is old and run down"
When I first arrived I thought, wow, this is a beautiful resort. But as I took a closer look I realized that Le Meridien is in need of a lot of repair and updating. The rooms are nice and they have updated the bedding but the bathrooms are moldy and kinda gross. Need to update the bathrooms. There is a strong mold smell and a lot of bugs all over the room. The food is not that great. The service is good The pool is nice but again needs updating. It just isn't the escape you're looking for hen you think of Tahiti. It shouldn't be a Starwood property, not up to their standards.
