"Great stay despite construction"
We stayed for 4 day and three nights. We were allowed early check in at noon by Paula. She was nice, and fast. The Bell hop assisted with luggage. The room was clean, we had no issues during our stay. The elevators are a bit slow, the water pressure is low for flushing, but was fine and hot for showers. We did see some construction workers but not many. Overall the stay was great.
"This is a Perfect Place to Stay"
This beautiful hotel is located in the heart of New Orleans… It is far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Bourbon Street to be peaceful but one can easily get to the French Quarter from the hotel. The staff was beyond helpful: the ladies at the front desk are pleasant and helpful and make you feel right at home; Cedric greets every guest like a family member; and Wayne is always there to offer a smile and to ensure that you are having a perfect stay. The concierge staff was extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. The hotel offers a lovely restaurant, a beautiful lounge, and a rooftop pool & terrace that offers great views of the city. The on-site gym meets your needs. The rooms were spacious with beds that were very comfortable and good sized bathrooms with lovely amenities. But perhaps my favorite thing about Le Pavillon was the 10pm snack served every night ... hot chocolate, cold milk and peanut butte & jelly sandwiches. We will definitely be returning.
"New Management or something' IDK. "
My wife and I stayed at Le Pavillon several years ago and simply LOVED it. Everything about that stay was perfect and we were close to making this our Nola hotel. Until this stay..... I made the reservations months in advance as I was coming in to do the New Orleans Tough Mudder. It was early on Saturday, so we set our arrival Friday night. We got to the hotel at approximately 10:30pm to check in. Only to be told our room had been given away. They put us up for the night across the street at Drury Inn. I was to tired and needed to get to sleep, and really I doubt this night receptionist had anything to do with giving our room away. So I told her I'd need to talk to the manager the next day. This caused us more trouble in the morning as we had to check out and take our luggage when we left to head to the Tough Mudder. Sigh. After our event we got to Le Pavillon and I got to talk to a manager! She never apologized. I get it, your swamped, packed, and probably took a lot of complaints. Fine. But rather than saying "well we paid for your room at Drury last night" you could of easily made it right with a simple "I'm sorry" and maybe a meal voucher. But no such luck. Soooooo here we are. My wife and I find ourselves looking for another Nola home base hotel and telling all our friends and family who ask to DEFINITELY NOT stay at LE Pavillon.
"Not Up to the Standards of the Past"
We have stayed at Le Pavillon several times. It's our first choice in NOLA because of the location as we are usually going to the Super Dome or Smoothie Center. This stay was different from the others. I knew on arrival that things had changed - no tuxedo, top hat doorman. No big deal, but always something that expressed the level of service you could expect. The valet was nice, and informed right away that parking had increased - $5 plus tax - since I booked. A stunning $42/day before the tax. Check in came next, The man who checked me in was not rude per se, just not friendly. In fact at first I wasn't even sure if he was checking me in or doing something else on the computer. He did not say much to me at all. When I said something about the parking rate increasing, he just kept typing. He gave us our room keys and we rode up to our room to find our door propped open much like housekeeping will do. They were working on the room across the hall, so we weren't sure at first what was going on. We knocked on the door, opened it the rest of the way and found a clean empty room, so we stayed. The good part - the beds and pillows are great. There is plenty of room. Everything looked clean,. While the bathroom vanity area isn't huge, it is a nice size for a older hotel and an improvement over the old rooms. I'm ok with the renovations that have been done, It has lost some of it's old hotel charm, but that's no big deal with me. Also even with only 2 elevators, we never waited an extremely long time, The down side - no coffeepot in the room. They do have it downstairs, but that means getting dressed to go get it. We also got hot water in our sink when turning on the cold faucet. It would be cold to begin with, then warm up. The next day I called to get our car. The phone rang close to 20 times before answered. She took my valet number and said she'd have it brought over. We finished packing, headed down and dropped the keys off at the front desk, The person there was very nice. I also discovered on my bill that I was charged the original rate for parking - which was a nice surprise. Then out to get the car which wasn't there yet. We waited and then saw others just walk across the street and give their ticket to the valet in the booth, They got their car brought to them at the lot. So, we just walked over. Again no big deal, but not the service I expected from Le Pavillon based on past experience. Overall, still a good stay and I will probably stay here again. But I am a little leery of where things are headed. It makes me sad to see such a great service oriented hotel go down.
We flew in from FL on Friday March 17 for a two night stay. We arrived about 11:30 and they told us our room was not ready. Everyone at the front desk looked miserable. Being that we were tired we asked if they could have the room ready before the normal check in time of 3pm, they said no, Not even "let me see what I can do", I've never had such horrible customer service, apparently they are not aware of what hospitality really means. We walked to canal street to waste time, returned about 2:30 and room was still not ready so we waited in the lobby, then about 2:55 was told our room was ready, finally. The room and lobby were beautiful but I will not return based on customer service.
