We were looking forward to staying in this sumptuous old hotel. It is certainly a beautiful building that is well maintained but our experience was spoiled by the attitude of a couple of members of staff. Customer care should be paramount in such a high level hotel but we felt this was lacking. On a positive note the room we had was very good and we certainly appreciated the bath robes, lovely bedding and comfortable beds. It was a pity a facility to make a hot drink in the room wasn't provided. The hotel offers a gym and swimming pool facility which are both excellent. I would recommend a stay here as it gives a good insight into old New Orleans glamour and it is close enough to the French Quarter but away from all the noise.
beautiful hotel in down town....just blocks from the super dome, the French quarters, alot to see right around the hotel within walking distance....just about done with renovation as our room was one of the completed rooms very nice....shower didn't get very hot but the water pressure was great....we used parking valet for the hotel no hassel of getting in and out someplace it was $40 a night but then again it's right next to the hotel and not blocks away...peanut butter sandwiches at 10pm a must experience....smoking is only outside or on the roof but if going on the roof take ur own ashtray
"Good Hotel For Below Average Price!"
This hotel has the best breakfast in the city. Rooms tend to be on the small side. However, most rooms do provide good views of the city. Hotel has a nice fitness room and serves complimentary peanut butter sandwiches nightly. Rooms also provide info on the never ending things to do in NOLA. Employees are friendly.
This hotel is absolutely beautiful! The lobby was amazing. The staff was friendly and courteous, and very knowledgable. As soon as we checked in, we sat with Sara the concierge and she talked to us about what we might want to do during our stay. She booked all of our tours and took payment and wrote out an itinerary for us. The beds and bedding were extremely comfortable! (and I'm picky) The robes were luxurious! The pbj bar at night was very nice- it gave us a chance to meet other travelers as we all stood or sat around eating pbj and drinking milk. The only thing I'd really like to see changed is coffee in the room. I'm not a person who can go without coffee- and my husband had to go to the lobby to get it. I would've liked it to be in the room. That's such a minor thing compared to the wonderful stay we had. We stayed 4 nights and 5 days - they allowed us a late check out to accomodate our flight time. It's about a mile from the French Quarter- but it's an easy walk- and...you can walk with your drinks (alcohol). We highly recommend this hotel!!!!
I really do like this hotel, the people are great and the room has more character than the Hilton but there have been so many issues with it. (Pipe under the sink leaks water onto my feet - they've been up to fix it but it's not fixed, the elevators are dirty due to construction, the hot water takes forever to come through in the shower, the telephone didn't work in my room, and no one has offered any compensation for the hassles). But again, it's a good location and the people who work here are very nice. I think it's in the middle of a big reconstruction, so maybe in a couple of months things will be in better order.
