"I'd give this 10 stars"
If I could. It was a wonderful stay in an amazing city. The staff was incredibly helpful and went above and beyond to provide assistance throughout our stay. The front desk staff cheerfully answered questions and gave great suggestions for everything from where to eat to finding a hairdresser. We originally had trouble navigating the route to the hotel and after we overshot the entrance, the front desk sent valet Ben to get the car. He was so nice and reassuring and after our long drive and traveling on unfamiliar roads, that level of care for guests was greatly appreciated. An afternoon glass of wine at the hotel bar was made extra pleasant with friendly conversation with our bartender Fred. The room was beautiful and the bed very comfortable. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!
"Museum Group Tour"
I am so happy that our group is staying at the Place d'Armes. The rooms are fresh and clean. I love the big soaking bathtub. The reception staff is very helpful. They are always standing by with umbrellas on our way out--anticipating rain later in the day.
"Overrated boutique hotel"
I was much looking forward to staying in this highly ranked boutique hotel. It's basically located in a number of adjoined old buildings close to Notre Dame. We stayed on the 6th floor close to the elevator. Thankfully the entrance to the room had functioning noise isolation, so no noise from people going in and out of the elevators came in. Here are the positive aspects of the hotel: 1) Superb location. 2) Wonderful, attentive, friendly staff. 3) Great bedding - we slept wonderfully. 4) Boutique up-market 'feel'. 5) The valet parking is efficient and expensive, consider it though, if you don't feel like driving around to find cheaper parking. It's really very convenient. 6) Nice amenities in the bathroom. 7) Great rainshower in the bathroom. 8) Gas fireplace in the room. Here are the negative aspects of the hotel (they take into account that this isn't a downmarket, cheap property): 1) The sink in our bathroom was cracked in a number of spots, and apparently so for awhile. 2) The Nespresso coffeemaker in the room wasn't plugged in because there was no plug where it was located, so you needed to move it around to eventually find a suitable plug for it. 3) The elevators are super-slow and inefficient, expect to wait. So, considering the expense, there are better options in the vicinity.
"Perfect in Every Way"
The perfect location for exploring Montreal. The biggest take away was how attentive and helpful all the staff were. So very friendly. Wonderful upgrade to one of the beautiful suites and the lovely touch of champagne on our Anniversary was so wonderful. The suite in the third building on the 3rd floor was stunning with exposed brick walls, high ceiling and very tasteful decor. Large sitting area and dining table. Bathroom was expansive with huge walk in shower and whirlpool tub. Included a second washroom. Nespresso machine !! :) and stocked fridge. Great bar and roof top "terrasse". Dinner was delicious, we did not get to try the Asian restaurant. We stayed three nights, walked everywhere. Very convenient for the old town, spent every evening there. Walked to downtown Montreal and climbed Mont Royal. Also took the underground to the islands Thank you all for the perfect stay. We would love to return.
