"Full service, great location but read these pro tips"
Spent four nights here on a recent solo trip to Montreal. Here are some of the things I liked: *Great location on the edge of Old Montreal and easily walkable to Chinatown and the Place des Artes. * Large, quiet room with comfortable bed. * Great water pressure and loved the double shower head. * Efficient, polite front desk service -- all of my requests were filled quickly. * Got a great rate through an Expedia package deal. That said, I did feel the communication on check-in was too hurried. I felt badgered into signing up for the "Green Plan" without being fully informed that this meant my room would not be cleaned at all unless I called and requested it. And they could have provided a lot more information about the layout of the hotel and the food options available in it. So here are a few things I wish I had been told on check-in (aka, my pro tips for this hotel): 1. The hotel is built into a hill and the main entrance is on the low side of the hill, facing away from Old Montreal. However, if you go up the escalators (or take the elevator to the 3rd floor -- for some reason, there is no 2nd floor), you can enter/exit the hotel on the "back" side, saving you about two blocks' walk and a hill climb if you're heading out to explore Old Montreal. 2. Also on that 3rd-floor level, there is a small cafe that serves coffee and sandwiches and such. It would have been nice to know about this at check-in. 3. And... from that 3rd-floor level, you can also follow signs that lead you to an access point of the Underground City. THE WESTIN IS CONNECTED TO THE UNDERGROUND CITY. This was a revelation to me, and one I had to accidentally discover on my own as there was no map or information about it provided at check-in. (The Underground City is particularly charming right there, with a piece of a Berlin Wall, a beautiful Italianate fountain and a Starbucks. This is also the easiest way to access the Metro system -- VERY convenient. I wish I hadn't spent nearly so much time wandering around in the cold on unshoveled sidewalks and discovered this sooner.) 4. The sit-down restaurant (Gazette) serves their breakfast menu until 2pm on Sundays. As with all restaurants in Montreal, it's pricey and the portions are on the small side. But the food is good. Overall, I definitely recommend this hotel.
"The Service is Excellent"
The Westin is centrally located, across the street from the major convention centre, and at the gateway to historic 'Vielle Montreal' . It is modern and up-to-date with decor, comfort & amenities .(All of what you'd expect !) What is unexpected is that the room service cuisine & particularly room service staff are excellent ! I enjoyed cinnamon-infused oatmeal with honey, and a fabulous fruit plate for breakfast ; an ahi tuna steak sandwich with avocado and house salad for lunch ; and a fabulous salmon in green tea vegetable broth for dinner ! All rated"Superfoods" by Dr.Stephen Pratt . I also found the serving staff unusually accomodating : being clear that the tip was included in the charge, and in one instance correcting a not-ordered sugary ice tea, by going back to kitchen for a free San Pellegrino ! The staff are empowered to correct mistakes ! Great place for a business traveller !
"Great stay in old Montreal"
Really enjoyed our stay at Le Westin Montreal. Spot on and experienced exactly what I expect from a Westin property. The place seemed quite new, very well located (<5 mins to old Montreal), and had excellent service. I asked the concierge for some dinner recommendations and he quickly pulled together an emailed me a list of excellent locations he has personally been to. I ordered a couple items to the room and had a quick turn-around with friendly service. The gym is above average for Westin gyms and their gym clothes rental was great! Will definitely return.
"Excellent Stay. "
The prices were great, the room was spacious and very clean and the room service was very good. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone looking at where to stay in Montreal. I would stay here again.
"A great place in old Montreal"
We have stayed here on two separate occasions, once for a wedding and another for a quick weekend away. It's location is fantastic for wandering old montreal for a weekend. It is clean, contemporary and well run. The gym is very good for a hotel, and the hotel with hot tub and cold dip is a nice extra.
