"Average Hotel Marketed as Luxury"
I was recently in Beijing for a family event. My brother treated my parents and I to a stay at the Legendale Hotel. It is marketed as a luxury 5-star hotel. We were quite disappointed at the reality of the hotel. It is quite in need of a facelift. The hotel is worn and tired. There are many things that need to be updated or repaired. The room was only average in cleanliness and condition. While it was large and roomy, there were stains on the carpet, chips in the wood working, cracks in the tile (one was quite loose and actually caused me to trip) just to name a few. What was worse was the absolute disorganization of the front desk staff. While the concierge was helpful, the front desk staff had no idea what was going on. Each person had a different answer for our bill, tried to double charge us, and basically couldn't communicate with us. The location of the hotel is great for sight-seeing being centrally located. But that's basically the only thing going for it. I would never stay there again, nor would I recommend it.
The customer service is excellent. The concierge was awesome. Their billing and bookkeeping is awful. Make sure that you monitor your bill and if you have multiple parties staying and checking out at different times make sure that they only charge your group once. Other than that. It was stellar. Very clean. Very hospitable.
"Charming but aging hotel, needs repair, average services."
This is a huge hotel, with a very charming victorian style. But upon closer inspection there are a lot of little niggling problems. The walls inside the room are all cracked and need repairs, even the marble floors and walls in the common areas are cracked, chipped and aging noticeably. The wall plaques for light switches and such are loose and separating from the walls. The bathroom tiles are separating from the walls. The gold toned accents in the bathrooms are tarnished and need refreshing. Overall, this was a little disappointing and overpriced for the present condition it is in. Everything is overpriced. The breakfast is about $26 USD per person, and it is not anything special considering you can eat much more economically throughout Beijing. This in-room mini bar similarly overpriced. The room service menu also overpriced. The hotel staff is average, and not very attentive to needs of the guests. I would rate this generously at 7/10. You can do better is you shop around a bit. The Regent across the street seems pretty nice, or try some of the high-end non-chain options for a better deal.
"Old room, poor service, lousy in-room dining"
Old room: I was told to be "upgraded" to service apartment but the room is quite old. Poor service: The lady supposed to lead me to elevator took my elevator card and dealt with other customer and went up with my card. I had to wait at ground floor for her to come down. The in room service operator was not friendly and hung up my phone very soon. Lousy in room dining: I ordered dumpling and a soup. The soup was fine but the dumpling came with very low quality and presentation. Completely not worth a 5 star hotel, at most a 4 or 3.5. 為什麼一定要我打中文 為什麼一定要我打中文 為什麼一定要我打中文 為什麼一定要我打中文 還要打50字 還有六個字喔
Very European, very elegant! Perfect hotel for business meetings. Beautiful rooms, clean swimming pool area. The staff is very friendly and speaks good English. Good location. The breakfast very tasty too.
