"Okay for wheelchairs - once in!"
We had city break in Berlin and I use a small manual wheelchair. This is my first city break where we flew in and used public transport, so it had to be good, and it was. Booking with the hotel was a little frustrating as I was not able to book the wheelchair accessible room via the website. I had to contact the hotel, exchange a few emails, and it was suggested I give my card details via email - never going to happen. But we got there in the end. Being able to book via the website would have been a much nicer experience. Having arrived at the hotel, I became a little deflated because of the step to the entrance. One little step. Why was there even a step there' Why has the step been allowed to stay there' So annoying. But sadly, worse was to come. It is lucky I have a small wheelchair as off to the side is a ramp up the next set of steps, which was very steep and when wet (Berlin in the spring), very slippy. Another disappointment. The hotel entrance needs to be a lot more inviting. And whilst I am moaning, the last negative thing was the lack, or apparent lack of wheelchair accessible toilets in the public areas. There is one, but you need to find it. So to the good stuff, and there is plenty of it. The hotel is big but there were plenty of friendly staff to help. If you do not speak German, you will be fine, just about everyone spoke English and they were all so very friendly. It's the most welcoming hotel I have stayed at. The buffet breakfast was great, the hot food was warm due to the nature of the beast. But there was so much choice for breakfast, hot and cold and with more breads than you could shake a French stick at. Our bedroom was very large and comfortable with a very spacious wet room. It was a feature of establishments in Berlin that they were very warm and the Leonardo was no exception. If you like a warm room, you are going to love this hotel. We had one evening meal at the hotel and it was lovely. If you can not face the bleak Berlin weather, then you could do a lot worse than eating here, the Weiner schnitzel was excellent. So, if you like the idea of staying in the heart of Berlin, enjoy hopping on and off buses and trams, then I can recommend the Leonardo. What it lacks in outright accessibility, it more than makes up with the quality of staff. So very helpful and friendly. Thanks to everyone there for making my first fly in City break a success. PS The Blue Man Group were great!
"City break "
Very nice hotel in Berlin, situated in the east, that is a 10 minute walk from Alexanderplatz which is very central. Greeted by friendly staff on arrival. Lovely spacious room, with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast buffet had the most choice I have ever seen. It was excellent. Would recommend to anyone planning a visit to Berlin.
Great hotel with value for your money, excellent buffet breakfast with lots to choose from. Internet included is slow, could be better. Overall very attentive staff. When we arrived in spite our room was not ready, the found us one as we were tired after traveling all night to get to Berlin/thank you staff!
"Decent hotel for the price"
Stayed here Feb 2017 it's a drab building from the outside but once inside it's warm clean and spacious, the staff were helpful and spoke perfect English as well as there own toungue, the rooms were big with the usual facilities. Bar area was pleasant with an electronic band played across 3 plasma screens good service and although I didn't eat the food coming out looked good. The breakfast was expensive but there area couple of caffe type spots less than 100 meters up the road. If you like walking you can get to all the main attractions Berlin is famous for on foot, be prepared to walk 20 mins to half an hour to get to the centre of things, alternatively the tram is right outside. The hotel is not in the centre of things but is well placed on the outskirts enjoyed our stay even though it was very very cold when we were there
"Good location for exploring berlin."
The hotel is a short walk from Alex. It has good services and not many irritations. Within the imediate area there are some local shops. The breakfast is ample, but at 19€ each, slightly pricey,if staying for a week. Before 0630, early birds have a complementary selection. The church next door provides a complementary 0800 wake up!.
