The hotel exceeded my expeectations. The staff was great, the room was clean and the restaurants had delicious food and drink options. This hotel is located next to a fire station so I was concerned about the noise, but I although I saw various fire trucks fly by throughout the day, i only heard one in the middle of the night. The hotel is modern and very centrally located.
"Something is missing"
The hotel is conveniently located near Union Station, Capitol Hill, Library of Congress, and Supreme Court. It is a short walk to the National Mall. The rooms are adequate but the bathrooms are small. The front desk representatives seemed overwhelmed most of the time. The hotel loses it boutique feel when is opens itself up to a convention style setting. The lobby is not big enough and the front desk only has 3 computers to accommodate. Had to stand in line for 15 min plus to ask a question. The hotel is right next to a fire station so if sleep is what you desire ask for the back side of the hotel.
"Long lines to check in"
It took very long to check in and out. The front desk was not helpful in finding additional cot for our room. I would not book again at this property. Our room was directly over the kitchen and bar and very noisy.
"Great Staff Responsiveness and comfortable atmosphere"
Location, location, location is what originally brought me to this hotel, being 2 blocks from the Capitol, Supreme Court, Union Station, and the National Mall. But my stay was truly enjoyable for a number of reasons. First, the accommodations were quite comfortable. The furniture in the rooms was modern, plush, and inviting. The lighting in the room was perfect for relaxing, reading, or getting ready. The pillows couldn't have been more of a perfect happy medium between soft and supportive. But the staff went out of their way to make the stay as enjoyable as possible and rectify any problems. To be frank, when I arrived, the computer system was down and guests had to be checked in manually. While this took a while (the front desk associate warned that it could take up to 15 minutes, although mine was less), the staff were friendly and took the time necessary to help guests get acquainted with the hotel. They also gave guests complimentary drink coupons to use at their restaurant. When I woke up in the morning, I received a letter under my door apologizing for the situation and offering to waive the resort fee and giving a $20 credit for food at Art and Soul, the property's restaurant. The only other hiccup was the fact that the guests in the room next to me were having a fairly loud party into the night. I called the front desk, who quickly sent security to the room to ask the guests to quiet down. In the morning, the front desk associate apologized and offered me a late check-out to compensate me for the stress. If you are looking for a comfortable, modern hotel perfectly placed on Capitol Hill with staff who are extremely eager to please, I hope you will consider The Liaison. I would certainly return.
"great boutique hotel"
Great location, rooms comfortable and service excellent. We were pleasantly surprised how comfortable and cozy the rooms were in this hotel. It is within walking distance of Union Station which made it convenient for getting around DC
