A 6-minute walk from the MUSA underwater art museum, this all-inclusive, adults-only resort is also 4.2 km from the Museo Maya de Cancún archaeological museum.
This is a high quality hotel! Few points are: waiters seeking tips and impairing service in the absence (it is a all inclusive hotel, people are not always with money); infra could have more covered areas for rainy days; and the price that is expensive, although owing due all things offered. I totally recommend it for everyone looking for a remarkable experience in cancun!Comment of V. Breno , Brazil the 2016-12-26

Everything was great. Staff was outstanding. Food delicious.Comment of S. Susan , United States the 2015-08-01
The hotel, food and service were outstanding. First time for me to book all-inclusive/ adults only resort and I loved it. Particularly the different restaurants with their food choices and quality/freshness/innovation of meals impressed me. I gave sound insulation an "average" - our room was next to elevator and we could hear everyone coming and going, but that was the only negative thing. Also, the hotel put together a special party for the FIFA Soccer end game which was outstanding.Comment of M. Christiane , United States the 2014-06-25
"5 Star Luxury and Service!"
I was a former Travel Agent, so I spend hours researching the top 5 star resorts before booking my vacations! This is my 3rd stay with the Fiesta Americana chain a Mexican based company. You can expect a true authentic Mexican experience staying with this chain unlike some of the more common chains that can be found in every country. Live Aqua is perfect for the traveler looking for an upscale, but warm, welcoming and comfortable atmosphere! You are greeted in a serene spa like setting with water features, aroma therapy, cool towels and a refreshing cocktail. You will be seated and given a private welcome with a hand massage. Rooms are sleek, modern and impeccably clean. We upgraded to an OCV that had a breathtaking view of the turquoise waters of Cancun zone and the lush tropical grounds! Many pools to chose from with different types of music depending on what you like. The food was outstanding (Las comidas eran excepcionales!) There was a restaurant for your every mood and every desire! From extensive Sieta breakfast buffet, room service on your balcony, beach service in your cabana, cerviche at Sea corner beach side, pool Grill, crepe station, fresh coconuts open before your eyes! Loved our relaxing days in our beach cabana with foot massage and our amazing cabana waiter Isaac who catered to our every desire! Amazing service thru out the property at every bar and restaurant! Tips were never expected but we always tipped a few dollars to everyone who served us because they go above and beyond to accommodate you! Their motto "your wish is our wish!" It is very much practiced! If you desire anything just pick up your phone or just ask your waiter they will go beyond to fulfill that desire! Also I never saw a resort where the Executive Chef Cesar Germaine walks the resort during the day to make sure that he and his staff of chefs are meeting your culinary expectations!!! And Valerie Van Rooij PR director make us feel so welcome and at home! (El servicio y el personal era el ultimo!) Thank you Chef Germaine for dazzling us with your fabulous creations at your chef's table at Laakech! Muchos Gracias! Loved the Famous Habanero soup at MB restaurant it's a must have! The Spa was a another must! With their amazing Swedish massage and private spa attendant who escorts you through the balancing waters, gives you green tea, fresh towels with each transition and dries your swim suit while you shower! The evening entertainment each night provided was diverse each night with musicians performing Cuban dance music, soft rock, popular hits and The Four Tenors singing opera! We traveled as a group of 3 couples and we enjoyed Casino night and listening to the live music each night! Ages ranged from late twenties bacholette party, we saw couples and singles 30's, 40's, 50's and 60's! Something for everyone. This is not a "spring break" type resort more for luxury traveler but who also wants the right balance of fun and relaxation! If you do want additional night life there are many close night clubs if that's something you want. You must experience for yourself! We will be back next year! Muchos Gracias Live Aqua! Hasta pronto!
"Amazing pools & beach...bleeechh food"
I really wanted to give this hotel more stars because there were things that we absolutely loved about it, but couldn't for a few reasons. We had originally booked through Expedia since we purchased the hotel/flight together. I called a few days ahead of time to see if I could upgrade the room to Aqua Club as a surprise for my spouse. They advised that because I hadn't booked directly through the hotel, they weren't able to adjust anything until arrival. Not a great policy, but so be it. Upon arrival, I asked the check-in guy about the possibility of an upgrade. He immediately told me that nothing was available without even looking to see if it would be available later. Not exactly going above and beyond and this was particularly true as it was very clear that the hotel was not filled to capacity after the 1st/2nd day we were there. Unfortunate as I was looking to pay more money for rooms that were empty! We were also chatted up by one of the timeshare people who is there to accost guests as they are getting situated. It's really annoying after traveling half a day to finally start your vacation and feel like you have to tell someone "no". They also try to pretend like it is not a timeshare...i.e. Meet me tomorrow morning for your welcome gift and orientation/map. It's very low class for a nice resort. It's not just at check-in - we were also grabbed by the towel hut for the same reason. The rooms are very nice - spacious, with flat-screen TV's, movie channels in English, very comfortable beds/linens, and a terrific bathroom with a glassed in shower and separate tub. There is very limited drawer space (3 small drawers) so we did live out of our suitcases much of the time. The shining star of this place is the pools and beach. The beauty of the infinity pools is unparalleled - probably the most beautiful design of any place we've been. The beach space is large with gorgeous aqua water and simply stunning. If you want to be in the water all of the time, this place is perfection in that regard. It's also awesome that they heat the pools so that you are really warm and comfortable even on overcast days or when it is windy. This resort allows the towel saving game which is really annoying. There really should be someone in charge of looking at what chairs have been used. Every morning by around 7-7:30am, most of the chairs were blocked with towels, but we wouldn't see anyone arrive back to claim them until around noon. None of the staff would do anything about it and I finally saw people that couldn't find any chairs even though most of the chairs were sitting empty except for the towels just cleared chairs themselves. The loungers are very comfortable and there are plenty of umbrellas if you want to create shade. I agree that the service people are very friendly and the service is excellent at the pool for having them bring you drinks, lunch, etc. Most people are handing out tips but no one is bugging you for one. I do think this place has been up in the rankings for TripAdvisor so much that they have let some of the unique touches slide. We are used to getting towel animals, or fresh flowers, or here, it appears to be colored rice designs in our room usually daily. At Live Aqua, we got a colored rice smiley face one day and other than that, no personalization. Very hotel like - not boutique resort like. I am probably spoiled but I am used to getting a bottle of champagne delivered as a surprise, or getting a bubble bath run...there just wasn't anything unique about coming back to our room each day to look forward to. Our plans are to go to Le Blanc next year any ways, but I won't be coming back here unless they make a major overhaul of their food quality. They need a new head chef for sure. Nothing was necessarily bad (i.e. we didn't get sick or anything), but it was just so far under par for the quality of food I would expect for a resort at this price point. We ate at all of the restaurants. The best one was the formal restaurant MB - we ate there twice. Agreed that the habanero soup is outrageously good and the beef ribs and veal cheeks are amazing. But everything else was just ok - the filet, the pork ribs, the crab croquettes, the corn soup...nothing we'd order again and our friends left most of it on their plates. The Hidden Garden has the coolest atmosphere but everything is overly spicy. We don't mind spice, but it takes away from the overall dishes. Italian restaurant - the entrees were decent; appetizers were all blah. Mediterranean - appetizers were great, entrees were gross. My mahi-mahi was incredibly fishy tasting and served with the oily skin on, but not crispy at all. The taco place for lunch is just awful. Breakfast is certainly the best meal of the day, but they serve the same thing every day so it does get a little old after the first couple of days. The oddest thing about this resort is that they have very few Mexican food options and what they do have is not good at all. We expected to have at least some traditional Mexican food at some point during our trip and there wasn't much to be had. The grilling station at lunch with the BBQ chicken is really good...ribs aren't great, but the chicken is amazing. Also, there is no where to go later in the evening if you just want to get a burger or a pizza or something else to eat. The pool bar with that type of food is closed at 5. You can order room service which we did quite frequently since our meals left a lot to be desired...but room service takes 45 min to an hour and all the food is cold by the time you get it. We didn't go hungry but they really need a complete overhaul on dining to make this resort 5 star. As people have noted, there is essentially no nightlife. We didn't care about this and knew it going in. I will note that the tenors performance was absolutely spectacular and having the live guitarist in the lounge another night was also fun. We did a couples massage at the spa and you should NOT MISS the spa. This was a highlight of our trip - the relaxation pools/sauna/steam room before your treatment was really special and the massages were wonderful as well. I would not recommend having your massage on the beach as you need to walk through the resort in a robe with your therapist and the area where the massages are given is right in the middle of where the beachgoers are....it's not private in any way. The aromatherapy in the rooms was really fun. The lobby particularly at night is really lovely and romantic with lots of candles and the water elements. There is an odd sewage smell on the bottom level of the resort that other people mentioned and I did notice it as well. There is something going on that needs to be addressed. We rented a cabana one day as we wanted to stay fully out of sun. I was planning on renting one every day, but really there wasn't a lot of difference in the service or comfort level whether you were in a cabana or not. The 20 min foot massage was nice as well. We absolutely LOVED the pools, beach, and service during the day. Very relaxing vibe and it is romantic. Everything else needs work - more personalization for guests and the food is a serious issue. I would want to come back here but until the dining is better, we won't be back.
"Perfect Birth(five)day: another glorious visit"
We spent five nights at Live Aqua and the visit happened to coincide with my (not-a- milestone) birthday. I usually spend my birthday at work and rarely do anything more to celebrate than have dinner out so I wasn't going with any expectation that this one would be any different. WOW!! Was I wrong!! This wasn't just a birthDAY but a birth-Five-days. This was our fifth visit (previously in March and August 2016, March 2015, March 2014) so we had high expectations that everything would be as good or better than previous visits. We had some favorite things, people and spots that we were eager to revisit but, as with past visits, we found some new things to enjoy as well. We're simply going to have to stay longer to enjoy all our favorites and new favorites! I have to start with AZUR - I often describe Live Aqua as "My Happy Place" and my happiest place of all is lunch at Azur. We have had lunch here almost every day of every visit and each one has been wonderful. These lunches topped them all, though. Our very favorite waiter of all time anywhere -- the fabulous Mauricio -- made sure every meal was perfection in service, drinks and special treats. We joked that my husband and Chef Frank had a bit of a "bromance" going during our visit. My husband would eagerly await whatever Chef Frank had prepared for lunch and Chef Frank would wave from the kitchen as we arrived each day. He is incredible! I developed my own special affection for "Carlos The Salad Guy" whose fabulous salads started each meal. Rosa greeted us every day and we even had a special visit from Maru. And the desserts.... I would be a happy person and weigh about 800 pounds if I could have the Fruit Tart every day. Be sure to ask for Chef Frank's handmade ice cream to go with whatever you get. After booking an Oceanview room and swearing we would not upgrade because we know the Oceanview rooms are great, we couldn't stop thinking about our August visit in the Viento Suite and decided to treat ourselves to the Viento Suite again. The room itself is wonderful with the extra large balcony and living room but we especially like the perks of the reserved cabana and the Aqua Lounge access. We enjoyed a little room service coffee and pastries while watching the sun rise several mornings. We were able to book our favorite beachfront cabana (thanks to Jorge and Dana) and enjoyed having the same servers throughout the week. Marisol and Paola (along with "the beach team") kept us well hydrated and took time to chat with us throughout our visit. We enjoyed the friendly, personal service we received even when the resort was at capacity. They do their best to make every guest special. Karina's foot massages were so good that I didn't even feel the need to visit the spa on this trip! Another reason we booked the Viento Suite was the access to the Aqua Lounge. We knew we would miss seeing Daniel every morning for breakfast if we didn't as he's another of our favorites at Live Aqua! The tasty morsels and delicious coffee are a great way to start the day (have to save room for those Azur lunches!!). The lounge is a great place for a quiet start and end to the day. Hugo has perfected my favorite French 75 and provided some great information about tequila for our night caps. Jimena and Fernanda the concierges were always willing to chat with us and made sure our days were perfect. We have always enjoyed our meals at Live Aqua but they stepped it up a notch with even more choices as well as some special treats. We (and many other guests) were treated to visits from the evening chefs at mb and Siete. Rightly so, most guests know and love mb. It is not to be missed and it was our choice for a "repeat" evening meal. Karla and the whole staff made both of our dinners so memorable and I know they do the same for every guest. I had steak done to perfection both evenings and the appetizers were delicious as well. To top it off, the birthday cake I received at mb was the most memorable of my life! Thank you Karla for the special treats and attention. Another "can't miss" restaurant for us is the ala carte Mexican part of Siete. Chef Francisco is an amazing chef and we enjoyed our meal there immensely. Each course was described in detail and it is a great chance to have very authentic food without leaving the resort. Another area of improvement is amount and quality of live music throughout the resort. There is at least one opportunity (usually more) to hear live music every day. I'm always surprised when people say they haven't heard any as it's right there on the schedule every guest receives at check-in. We always plan a dinner around The Piano Man at mb. This visit, there were lots of new choices. We thoroughly enjoyed "The Four Tenores" singing famous opera arias and show tunes and "The Vintage Band" playing tunes from our 80's high school days that played on the terrace in the evening. In addition, there was an amazing trio of women singing "diva favorites" at the pool one afternoon, a saxophone player in the Aka bar and a terrific band that played for the weekly dinner by the pool. The staff at Live Aqua made my birth-five-days so special. Our room was decorated when we arrived and it was so personal and special. They had obviously put a lot of thought into it. Throughout the week, there were special treats and personal touches that made our visit even better than the past. We are always amazed at how each trip is better and better. We talked with lots of guests who had special things but the staff really outdoes themselves for the many, many repeat guests. As I looked through my pictures, I realized there were some pictures of the beautiful view and the delicious food but there were lots of pictures of people. The staff at Live Aqua really sets it apart from any other place we have stayed. The "magic makers" (our term) do a great job throughout the resort but Dana really outdid herself in making this visit the best yet. I think she is relatively new in this position but she is amazing!! Since we've been here before, we like to visit with guests and hear that almost everyone has had a conversation with Valerie (another of the magic makers) or one of her team. Although we've never wanted for anything on any of our trips, they are available to guests who have special requests or run into problems at all. Our visit was perfect and beyond my wildest dreams for a birthday. We've only been home for three nights and last night I asked my husband if it was too soon to miss Live Aqua! And - yes- I've already checked the prices and the calendar to see when we can go back!
We have been to Cancun 18 out of 20 years. We have stayed in only 2 places more than once. The Live Aqua is one that we have stayed in 3 years in a row. This place is awesome. The PR manager , Valerie Van Rooji is fantastic. Everyone who works there works together as a team. You can tell they want to work there. My wife is disabled and we rent a scooter for her. They are very accommodating to her and to all their guests. Everyone is asking how you are and if they can help you. Not to a bothersome point but just too let you know they are there to help. The food is always good and it is really a clean resort. I even seen the General Manager stopping ad picking up old leaves and discarded water bottles and put them where they belong. Will we go back. In a heart beat !!! It is a adults only resort.
"Treated horribly on my Birthday celebration!"
We chose this hotel due to TripAdvisor reviews for my birthday along with 2 other couples but when we arrived today at 11am we were told that our rooms would not be ready until 3pm which was fine. We checked in our luggage and went to grab lunch until our rooms were ready. After lunch around 1:30pm we were told that 2 out of our 3 rooms were ready by our "concierge lady". This lady told us to sit down while she tried to sell us on excursions and spa services for the next 30 minutes in the lobby... we sincerely declined the excursions and when we asked for our rooms we were told we have to wait until 3pm... when we asked why would we have to wait another hour we were given an attitude by Luis at the front desk. This is a trick they use to sell you spa and excursions by holding your room hostage until u book something or wait until 3pm... We have stayed at numerous resorts across the world and never have we been treated with such disrespect... we feel since we did not book any spa treatments or excursions through our "concierge lady" we were given the short end of the stick. Anyways we have another 3 days here and will try to make he best of it.
