"Loved The London"
My friend and I stayed at The London in mid November 2016 for 3 nights after a recommendation from my sister. We had a large quiet room (room 614) which was a great size for two friends sharing. The bathroom was also a decent size with a double shower and a separate bath. The room didn’t have any tea or coffee making facilities but a quick call to the front desk remedied this. The hotel has a lovely feel to it and housekeeping do a fantastic job; the room and hotel were incredibly clean. I was luckily enough to make the most of the mild LA weather and the hotel’s rooftop pool. It was incredibly relaxing as there were only 3 other people using the pool and the staff weren’t obtrusive. The rooftop has great view of LA – a visit at sunset is a must. The hotel is conveniently located in West Hollywood and as I hadn’t been to LA for years I did the Starline hop on hop off bus tour (bus stop is conveniently located across the road from The London). Apart from breakfast we didn’t eat at the hotel, instead we walked to The Ivy for lunch and had a lovely dinner at Cecconi. We also had a terrible dinner at a restaurant owned by a RHOBH, but the less said about that the better! I was sad to leave but will definitely be returning to The London the next time I visit LA.
In LA for a long weekend and chose The London based off proximity and a recommendation. For the most part a great stay. * Front desk. Not often a point of difference but Brandon was fantastic. Good problem solver and excellent face of The London. * Ryan at the restaurant is outstanding. Rest of the staff seems disinterested at best. Food is solid. Ambiance is inviting. * Room; we had a 1br suite which was spacious and well-accommodated. Housekeeping was wonderful and unobtrusive. * Fitness center was one of the best I've seen. It has whatever you could want with a perfect layout and feels spacious with many glass windows. Overall, a strong property and I'm sure staffing at the restaurant will catch up to the rest of The London.
"Very good but a few niggles"
The property is very modern and stylish, from the rooms to the lobby to the rooftop pool. The room was fabulous with the bed in the middle, when you first walk in it is very 'wow' The shower in the room was the best I have ever been in, it was essentially two showers in one mini room. The concierge was excellent, he advised us on everything we needed to know for our first baseball game and got us the best seats. A couple issues... the door men and valet drivers were an embarrassment to the hotel. We were never assisted by them and witnessed most other guests be ignored. The restaurant on the rooftop was the worst restaurant we went to in LA but I'll save that for a separate restaurant review. Extra charge for a Latte with the rate included morning breakfast is not how a top hotel should operate. Truthfully I believe this hotel deserves 4.5. I would happily return to this hotel but not without checking the competition.
"Fabulous - Just totally wonderful!"
We stayed here for two nights. On arrival we were upgraded to a suite- room 811. We were on our honeymoon but the hotel was not aware of this. The suite was fabulous!!! There were two large bathrooms, a huge sitting room and the bedroom was equally large. The design and layout was superb. There was a walkway behind the bed headboard with vanity table, wardrobes on the wall behind the bed and one of the bathrooms on this wall also. There was a balcony from both the bedroom and the sitting room. The view over the city was wonderful. The lighting in the rooms was brilliant. There were two very large televisions. It was just wow! We ate in the bar the first night and in the dining room the second night. Both dining experiences were perfect in terms of the food itself and also the service which was friendly and very efficient and professional. Breakfast was a treat too. It was a large buffet which was included in the room rate and there was a menu also if guests preferred a cooked breakfast. There is a rooftop pool n this hotel and this whole area is very well appointed with different seating areas as well as the pool area. This hotel was the highlight of our trip and unexpectedly so. We loved every second that we spent in this hotel. The staff were lovely and everything was done to perfection. I found the initial entry into the hotel foyer on the first evening to be a little intimidating but after checking in and getting settled I could see there was no need at all to feel intimidated here. There was valet parking for 40 dollars per day. We absolutely loved staying in this hotel. It was the best hotel of our two week trip which included stays at eight different hotels.
The views over LA were stunning food delicious the staff were so friendly and helpful I spent my birthday here and the staff really spoilt me. Make sure you ask for a table were you can see the sunset over LA
