Beds are supple and not saggy. Carpet inside of the room is amazing to walk on -- so soft! Bathroom is amazing. Breakfast buffet is great with all kinds of selections from western to local Shanghai flavors. Front desks are accommodating. We forgot something in the fridge when checking out and the service person carried it out to the lobby in a nice tote for us. And my favorite of the hotel -- the gym and pool! What a treat. Highly recommended!
"Awful service, awful rooms avoid"
This place is dreadful. We booked a double room and were given a twin. Totally unacceptable. Why questioned they said we could pay an extra 400 dollars to upgrade to a room with a double room. Despite the website claiming that English wad spoken by the staff I saw no evidence of this. My wife is Chinese and when we asked if they could comp us a breakfast to make up for the twin room we were told no quite rudely by some idiot on reception called jasmine Tao. Awful customer service. Then to the room itself. Despite asking for a non smoking room the room we were given stank of cigarettes. The walls had a lot of stains on them and the bathroom door was broken. This hotel is one of the worst I have ever stayed in please avoid at all costs. It's also in a crappy area far from anything of value or usefulness. Move on people.
"Business as Usual"
Okay back again out of convenience and lack of planning from my side. Stayed 4 nights, the girl at reception tried to book me into a smoking room, I had to hall myself all the way down and demand a non smoking room, she wanted to freshen up the smoking room, can you believe that. The hotel now allows smoking in the lobby (café) while you trying to have a coffee and muffin, not good. This hotel has changed over the years and now definitely caters for the local market. My bed now has a hollow in it as the mattress is old and tired, the business class lounge has water dripping in it, but it is nice and quiet to get some work done. House keeping was okay, never packed the iron and board away, looks like they just made the bed and replaced the towels. Breakfast is okay, coffee is not good out of the machine or pre-made, clearly catering for the local market now. Love the dumplings and pork buns though.. Gym is still good and you've got everything to get the blood flowing. Moving on for my next trip.
"Great view, less great bar"
I had a very nice room, quiet, welll-equipped and with a fantastic view. Breakfast is ok but not more, the bar is in the lounge with a staff that can't mix and every night the same loud pop-awards-video full blast on a large screen. Still - a nice hotel.
"James Bond Might Stay Here"
The Longemont Shanghai was my favorite of the four hotels at which I stayed during my trip. It was very clean and rather luxurious. Wonderful city view from my 36th floor room. Good breakfast buffet, very courteous, professional staff. Only negative was the very limited complimentary bottled water (two 330 ml bottles per day).
