Stayed at the Baobab for a week in September and it was fantastic. The staff were lovely and the hotel is beautiful. We didn't expect there to be quite so many small children but once we found the pool that was mainly for adults this was not an issue. Great house band at night and great relaxing bar. Can't wait to go back.
"A hotel more for children and young families"
Just come back from the Baobab. Our 1st night we were awoken at 0400am by a screaming child in the room next door and the walls were so thin you could hear everything. I spoke to the receptionist who immediately offered us a courtesy room and said she would text me later in the day when a new room was ready. The receptionist called Stephanie should be congratulated for her professionalism in the way she dealt with our problem. We were moved to room 3068 on the same floor overlooking the pool towards the sea. During our stay the hotel was over run with screaming children aged 5 and under. In fact we have never experienced so many young children in a hotel, everywhere you went there was no rest from the crying and it wasn't a relaxing holiday. That said the hotel along with the fantastic staff has some lovely pools and I would thoroughly recommend it for young families. However I could not recommend for adults who wish to relax. The hotel was built in 2009 but is starting to show some wear, the seating in reception is in need of re upholstering and is very worn in places. We noticed that a few of the plate glass windows had been damaged and wonder why these had not been replaced. The food was very very typical of most spanish hotels and we ate out one evening to escape the same old everyday food. The evening entertainment is poor and in fact we went across to the sister hotel where the entertainment and ambience was much better. We would not stay at the hotel again but may consider the costa lopasan across the road. Once again if you are an adult couple travelling alone we would not recommend this hotel for a relaxing holiday, but would consider the hotel across the road.
"A wonderful weeks holiday"
Spent one week there and had a lovely time. We had a high level room which looked over the side near the chocolate pool, no noise. The room was very large with excellent cupboard space and a comfortable bed. The cleaning was done regularly every day with plenty of clean towels etc. The balcony was large and was nice to sit on at the end of the day. The food was on a Buffett style and plenty to choose from. Our family have been several times they have children which is excellent for them. Safe to walk out of the hotel with lots of shops and restaurants. NI would visit again.
"A fantastic themed hotel"
Spent a week in November at this fabulous hotel. The staff are excellent a credit to the hotel, nothing is too much trouble for them. We booked a standard room which was great, it overlooked one of the pools. The rooms are very big and very modern, with a wet room but also a huge bath. The hotel is vast and the African theme is stunning throughout. The food is of a good standard and plenty of variety and it is always good to have show cooking. There are many pools to choose from and they are all fab, plenty of sun beds and the pool areas are kept spotless. Will return without a doubt.
"A good 4-star rather than a poor 5-star"
First up I believe this is a good 4-star hotel rather than a poor 5-star one. For the many of you, who have no doubt like us read various negative TR reports, fear not, overall the hotel is very good & in places great, it does however have the odd splattering of negative aspects which for me results in really being a 4 star rather than 5. So… to the hotel & the good/negative points. The Staff They are nothing but fabulous, a real credit to the Lopesan Group. Having spent a bit of time during our holiday at the other Lopesan hotels this really must be a work ethic that is drummed into them for the start, as pretty much everyone we come into contact with was awesome. The Room The rooms are great, we only booked a standard room, however it was big, two large single beds pushed together, sofa bed, brilliant Wet / Bathroom & Separate Toilet. The only negative is the noise. You will hear upstairs, so if they are heavy footed, loud or have noisy kids it may disturb your stay. Facilities For me this is the 5-star element. The pools, the bars, the gym, the grounds etc. All done superbly. I did see some fool saying they reminded them of a poorly done Disney' They need to get a grip, it’s a themed hotel done with no expense spared, kids will love it… I’m sue they won’t be disappointed with a fibre-glass croc rather than a real one. They are also spotless, with cleaning a continuous theme The Food OK, let’s get the positives out the way, the breakfasts are nice. Massive choice, all of a good quality, you couldn’t really want for more. However, my first & really main complaint is the evening buffet. Sorry, if you want to be a 5-star hotel you can’t be… A) asking people to queue, B) Shutting a restaurant because its busy, C) Serving cold/luke-warm food & D) Creating a free for all experience. Just not good enough…. This resulted in us dining out in the town 5 out of 7 nights, my suggestion is 100% book B&B, as dinner is simply an experience you don’t want on a relaxing holiday Other Safe, yes you pay for it, who cares, its €2.50 per night, it didn’t bother me. Wi-Fi – Its pathetic, however you’re on holiday, so for me it was nice to have some time away from the day to day need of an iPad, emails & Social Media. If you need that, head to a bar in Maspolomas Location – Awesome, loads of good shops (Designer & Others), Supermarkets and Numerous Decent Restaurants. So much so I am glad we had to dine out as is would have been a shame to miss the various experiences we had. Top Restaurants were Gran Italia, The House & Misbah. Not so hot was Maximillian’s, such an effort for the guy to book us a table we decided to not visit. Also a must is the midnight cinema, great night watching a film, brilliant…. Conclusion Would we return…. Yes, although not for a few years. Would we return to the Baobab' Probably not, certainly not on HB. Now this is not because we didn’t have a great time, it was simply because we spent a few days at the Lopesan Costa Melonares (Sister Hotel) and it was much more our style. No reflection on the Baobab, just our preference. So if you are booked up, ignore the negative reviews, you will have a great time, even if a tad stressful come Buffet time… Enjoy
