From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were made to feel like royalty. The staff are friendly and helpful and can't do enough for you. The hotel itself is exceptional with lots to do and has fantastic swimming pools. The pools are a bit on the cold side once you get in but after a couple of minutes the temperature feels ok. We loved the pool with the lazy river and the bar staff at this pool were outstanding - they insisted on taking our order and bringing drinks over to us even though we were happy to carry them ourselves and they were so friendly and great with our son. The food choice in the restaurant was great at breakfast and at dinner times. There was a theme each evening for dinner and a great choice of food each night. Staff in the restaurants made a big fuss of our son, laughing and joking with him each evening - this was great as it made him feel really important. My son joined in with the kids club football each day and absolutely loved it. There were children and parents of all nationalities playing together and everyone had great fun. We paid for internet in out room, mainly because we wanted to facetime family at home. It was €2.00 per day for up to 4 devices which I thought was great. We also paid for the safe in the room which was €2.50 per day - again, I didn't mind paying this as it is something that we wanted. The hotel is in a great location, quite close to a nice shopping centre and the sea front which had lots of nice shops and restaurants. We will definitely be returning to this hotel. Thank you Lopesan Baobab for a fantastic holiday.
Just back from a week long stay at this resort and we enjoyed every minute of it. The staff work amazingly hard and the entire resort is just fantastic. The food is excellent, the pools are lovely - the entire resort is just superb, you won't be disappointed. We did find that most of the Sun Loungers round lazy River and the larger pools were taken by mid-morning - so if you have a late breakfast you might struggle to find a spot but generally it wasn't a problem. In summary - just go here!!! You'll love it, honestly!!
We had an unforgetable time at Baobab. The hotel area and the staff is amazing. The family room had 2 bouble beds and a big shower room that were appreciated by the whole family. The room were made 2 times each day and even our clothes we left on the bed were folded, just got to love it! The pools and area around were very clean and again the staff are fantastic. Very good food at the bufe and the cava at the breakfast is a good touch. We hope to be back soon.
"Winter sun with my 11 year old son"
My son and I visited the Baobab for a week in April 2016. This was our first visit to Gran Canaria, and although I have stayed on Tenerife and Lanzarote previouly I can honestly say that I was pleasantly surprised. Located 30 mins by coach from the airport this vast African themed hotel was my choice of property as I wanted my son to have fun and enjoy a relaxed family style hotel. The grounds are fantastic with plenty of sun loungers and shade if required, and good quality furnishing in public areas. The heated lazy river was a pleasure to swim in, there are also separate adult only and children's pools. The entertainments program including a yoga sessions were available if you wanted to take part. The food is of good quality and the variety available is vast. Staff go out of their way for the guests and are polite and helpful. The hotel operates two large buffet restaurants, one with an early sitting and the other opened at 8pm. My only negative point with regards to the dining experience was that very young children and babies, whom were clearly tired, were being brought into dinner for the late sitting ie 9pm, which often meant you could have a large number of babies crying at the same time around you. Being a parent I understand that this happens, but it's only polite to either placate the child or perhaps leave for a few minutes and then return to the restaurant, however this didn't seem to happen, and was quite disruptive to the overall ambience of the restaurant. That said, it may have just been the time of year. I just wonder if the management could have overcome the situation, which was an obvious issue with many diners, by requesting that parents with children under a certain age to utilise the restaurant that opened earlier as there was no time limit for them to leave. It would not stop me retuning to the hotel, it is purely a suggestion to improve the experience. The rooms were large clean and well maintained. If you are a light sleeper request a quiet room though, as otherwise you may hear the evening entertainment. The hotel is located nearby a shopping centre including a well stocked super market and the beach is a pleasant 10 minute walk away. I had read that there were some nice boutiques in the resort, but for the first couple of days, to be honest I didn't find them until I walked through the shopping complex and out the other side, so ensure you walk towards the beach and you'll find them. For any supercar enthusiasts amongst you, whilst walking out of the hotel on our final evening, we were surprised to see a number of supercars parked outside. My son being a young car fanatic was soon talking to a charming gentleman called Simon who allowed him to sit in the cars and happily spoke to us at length, even though he knew we were leaving the next day. Sadly as we were flying home early the next morning I did not have the opportunity to drive an R8 on the circuit which has been on my personal wish list for a while now. However listening to those people who had returned from the experience, they said it is something not to be missed and so if I return to the island, I will definitely contact Simon at Supercar Espana as the range of cars was certainly impressive.
"Something for everyone"
What an amazing place, the African theme is colourful and fun, lots of animal statues, live aquatic creatures (small ones!) and plenty of space for everyone. Our room was very spacious, clean, great shower and bath with fresh towels daily, room check by staff late afternoon and an excellent service from all the staff in every section of the hotel. The buffet meals offered a great variety of food, plenty to go around with trays regularly changed and fresh meat and fish cooked while you waited. A special part of our holiday is being able to eat our meals outside, no problem as there was always a clean table available without a long wait. Drinks orders were taken swiftly and plates cleared promptly. The walk to the beach was only a few minutes and yes there were plenty of boutique shops around, coupled with a wide variety of restaurants but the icing on the cake for us was delicious Italian ice cream eaten in the cool cafe on the seafront, perfect.
