Los Altos was beautiful!! My husband and I booked this resort to celebrate our 2nd anniversary. Travel was simple, pick up and drop off from and to the airport was simple, hotel service was awesome, food was delicious and the view was to die for. We chose the Luxury Romantic Getaway: The spa treatment was awesome right before our private dinner. We had our own chef and waiter!! and the excursions that were provided was well worth it. We were able to see numerous wild life. Our condo was spacious and very comfortable!! It was the rainy season, however, I believe it was a great time to go. We did our excursions in the morning and by the time we returned to the hotel it would start raining. So we would go to a restaurant with a gorgeous view or just watch the rain from our private balcony and have a night cap. The excursions was as crowded as it would have been during the dry season.
Stayed here for 12 nights with my new wife on our honeymoon. What an amazing hotel. Gigantic, clean, great views, very well kept. Must stay on at least the 6th floor if you want a view of the ocean. It is breathtaking. For as big as the spaces are they could have more amenities that basic hotels offer, but it was great anyway. The staff was amazing. Fabio and Caesar will take excellent care of you and help you with whatever you need. Two great guys that I'll remember as much as anything during the trip. I definitely recommend this place.
"No better option for families!"
Dream hotel for travel with a family! The suites are clean and extremely spacious, with multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, a full living room, a full kitchen and amazing views from the private decks. Each suite is its own floor and is fully outfitted with everything you will need during your stay. The grounds are beautiful including the large pool that has a small, shallow splash area perfect for little kids and the private beach that the front desk staff will drive you down to at a moments notice. The restaurant food was delicious and the servers were incredibly friendly! Add to that a great location between downtown Quepos and Manuel Antonio Park, we were never more than a cheap cab ride to our destination. Overall we were extremely impressed with the staff and our stay at Los Altos. Can't wait to return!
"Great location, however, missing some basic amenities"
I realize I am in the minority based on the reviews of this hotel (I would give it only 3.5 stars if I could), and while there are many nice things about this hotel, there are some basic amenities and issues with this hotel which would require me to really consider whether I would stay here again. We stayed for 4 nights on the 7th floor with two daughters, 14 and 11. Let's start with the positives: Positives: 1) You cannot beat the location. There are so many wonderful restaurants within walking distance. 2) The rooms are spacious and as long as you are on the 6th floor or above, the view from the living area is spectacular. 3) The breakfast was fantastic and is included in your room. They have a standard buffet but also will make you eggs and french toast. 4) The front desk and wait staff at the restaurant and the pool are all super friendly. Negatives: 1) Be wary that if you do not get a 6th floor or above room, your view will be of the hotel's parking lot. In addition, the view from the master bedroom is of the outside of the building and the view from the second and third bedroom is of a restaurant. I do not believe that this is fairly represented in the photos. 2) There are missing amenities - no televisions in the bedrooms, no robes or slippers or no towels at the pool (only at reception so you are out of luck once you are down at the pool). In addition, the wifi really only works in the living room. 3) We were not made aware of the fact that there was a wedding going on at the hotel on the Saturday night of our stay and they shut down the restaurant to other guests. I don't have an issue with this in principal, but they didn't inform us of this fact when we checked in and we had to change our plans at the last minute. 4) The ocean access if awful. I don't mind the hike down (although they do provide transportation if you don't want to hike it), but the beach itself is rocky and not well maintained. Also, there are maybe 4-5 rusty loungers down there and no towels or service (or bathrooms). We ended up walking to a nearby beach instead. 5) The gym machines are death traps. My husband and I like to keep our workout routine during our vacation and the only "safe" cardio machines were three spin bikes. The two treadmills were dangerous (the tread on one dipped in and I only weight 130 pounds and the other slipped even while walking) and the elliptical had rusty nails sticking out of it. The air conditioning is also horrible in the gym and it overlooks the parking lot. The location of this hotel is a 5 for sure, but other than that, I wasn't too impressed.
"A really nice family location"
We stayed here for 6 nights at the end of our trip to Costa Rica. The accommodation was excellent. The apartment was huge, very well furnished and very comfortable. Had we wanted to self cater we could have done so to a very good standard (induction hob anyone'), although I wasn't convinced that the local shops had a large enough range to really let you self cater. Each bedroom had its own balcony as does the lounge which was really nice. The pool was beautiful and rarely busy (worth saying we stayed in low season). Had our children been a little older we might have used the hotels own forest trails which looked excellent. Even without this we did see two sloths, an agouti and a white faced monkey in the hotel grounds. The reception staff were excellent and very helpful. Restaurant staff were also good, although it wasn't that busy which meant that they didn't pass by as often as you might want them to. If you have a family and need a more apartment based accommodation this is a great option.
