This hotel is new and looks great with spacious rooms, but it lies in the middle of nowhere. The restaurant and the service is, however, totally like the TV series Faulty Towers with John Cleese. Food and drinks are a very long time coming, and you are very lucky if you get what you ordered. We ordered a bottle of wine from the wine list, and after 45 minutes we were told that they did not have that wine! Another couple ordered two identical burgers, but one of them had an omelette! You are told to sign the bill with your room number and signature, but they mess this up so that some tables were given the wrong bills or bills from other tables. And they had the audacity to wake up guests in their rooms after midnight to tell them that they had not signed their bills even though they actually had done so. And all bills were cramming with errors,. On top of that they could not add up figures correctly! We advise everybody to avoid this place.
"Good hotel for visiting the cataracts"
We stayed one night for visiting the cataracts. The rooms are modern and nice. The balcony at the 2nd floor are quite big but surrounded from 3 big walls which does not make it comfortable to stay and relax on the terasse. Dinner for 45 R is buffet, good food, reasonable price. Breackfast is ok, but nothing fancy. Good hotel, but nothing for staying longer than 1 day.
"Hard to access except by cab"
It's kind of far away from everything. There is a bus that stops nearby, but its hours are very limited. Be prepared to spend any money you save on the hotel on transportation. There is no transportation from the airport except by cab. The rooms were nice enough and clean. The breakfast bar was amazing.
This hotel is located in a rural area outside of the city and would be difficult to access via public transportation. The rooms are clean and comfortable and very affordable. We stayed two nights and got a suite for a steal. Breakfast was typical offering of fruit, yogurt, bread and cake. Good, hot coffee. Hotel is well-appointed and clean. The staff is polite, polylingual, and efficient. I would not say they are overly friendly but they are professional. Housekeeping is on point. Meaning we went out of our room for breakfast, passed the housekeeper in the hall, returned maybe 45 minutes later to find a spotless, fragrant room. Thank you! Pool is okay, kids seemed to be enjoying it. There are no chairs to lie out and don't expect something like a resort with poolside service and pina coladas in your cabana although I did see staff deliver fresh towels next to the pool. There is a spa but I unfortunately did not have time to use it. This hotel seems mostly to be filled with guests attending conferences hosted by the larger, sister hotel Mabu Thermas Grand Resort who either could not find rooms at the more lux hotel or were looking for a more budget-friendly option. Or, there were visitors with cars. Either way, this hotel is exactly what you are looking for if 1) transportation is not an issue for you 2) you aren't looking for a luxurious hotel atmosphere to enjoy and lounge around in 3) you need clean, comfortable rooms at great prices. I should add, hotel restaurant was surprisingly good. We had one dinner and found it quite acceptable. Oh, I would also like to mention that the cost of a suite was a tiny bit more than a standard room, features a living room with a pullout couch, separate tv and air conditioning and is separated from the bedroom by a door so this could be a good option for those with kids rather than buying two separate rooms.
"15 - 30 Minutes from Everything"
Dates of Stay: July 24 - August 2, 2016 Located close to the airport and 15-30 minutes from EVERYTHING there is to do in Foz de Iguaçu, the Mabu Interludium was the perfect location for our family stay. A rental car is a MUST. Used Google Maps to get around. Their offline feature helped keep data roaming low. We got a great rate with Alamo with Expedia. Alamo in Foz is managed by Unidas. If there is no one at their kiosk, call the numbers provided using the phone at the desk. Great service and reasonable rates. Now to Mabu Interludium: Areas to improve include exterior color and Wifi reception in the guest rooms. It would be great if one room could accommodate two adults and two children to help save cost, safety, etc. However, requiring two rooms for four guests is consistent with hotel operations in Brazil. The rooms were clean, well-decorated, and spacious. Rooms need more drawer space for extended stays. The showers are to die for!!! The daily breakfast grew repetive, but it was a good mix of buffet items. Strong coffee! The day and evening crews were fantastic to us. We missed our flight back to Rio and they accommodated us for three extra nights at the discounted weekly rate we had received. The pool area and nature trail were great. However, the pool itself wasn't heated and it was too cold to use. I recommend a heater system. Bring insect repellent for the nature trail.
