We stayed for two nights over the weekend. It was the holidays and also a wedding was being hosted by the hotel so it was very busy. Room was fine, bathroom clean, with a very comfy and large bed!! On arrival, we were informed that because we booked directly through the hotels website, we had £10 credit to spend in the hotel. We ordered two glasses of prosecco at the hotel bar, and the friendly waitress brought us over complimentary nibbles - nice touch! The breakfast on the Saturday morning was lovely. Sunday morning was a completely different experience. It was a lot busier and absolutely chaotic. Had to wait a long time to be seated and for drinks and toast. Special mention to Bonnie the housekeeper. We had put a bottle of wine to chill in cold water, she got the fridge working for us and put it to chill properly for us in there, leaving a note to let us know she had done so. We really appreciated this - very pleasant to come back to. All in all a great stay. Only complaint is the very tired lifts that can take a while to get to you. Quicker to take the stairs!! The hotel is very hot, but the air con in the room made this unnoticeable after a while. Great location. Would come back.
Brilliant hotel, close to everything! Paid £85 for a double room on booking.com and well worth the money, drinks and food were good, I don't know what else you could ask for, room is spacious and clean bed is comfy and all the amenities you could want, would 100% recommend, definitely returning
"Lovely Hotel and Staff"
We used the hotel as a base for visiting friends and to attend a gig in the city. Parking is a bit of a faff, just location the car park but once found everything went smoothly. The room was lovely, nice and clean and beds were very comfortable. We really enjoyed the hotel and would love to visit again.
I stayed on 12/4/17 I had let the hotel know that is was a birthday treat and James Turner & his staff made it a visit to remember, you are greeted with warmth by the reception staff processed quickly, the rooms are of a high standard and the hotel in general is very good, a slight gripe would be the tired lifts but this should not put you off a very good hotel, the breakfast is of a high quality with very warm staff looking after your every need, all in all a very memorable stay at a quality hotel.
"Could be better..."
I stayed here this Bank Holiday which has just passed and I must say it was a slight disappointment! The room wasn't ready until 3pm, which was fair enough but we said if it becomes available before could they let us know. They did let us know around 1.30pm so we returned to the hotel to check in, to then be told it wasn't ready! So we had to wait another hour and a half before we even got to the room. We then decided to go to the spa...we were under the impression the hotel had a pool, being a SPA hotel, you'd think there was one but there wasn't!! We were really confused by this as the pictures on the website show that there is one! The room itself was lovely and spacious so I can't complain there but the staff on Front Desk were, unfortunately, not so good in their service. The were slow and seemed like their knowledge was not up to scratch at all. When we asked them who told us over the phone that the room was ready, none of the could give us an answer and kept saying "it wasn't me you spoke to", they just all lacked communication between them.
