"Fantastic hotel and very comfy beds"
I've visited the hotel on several occasions on visits to Manchester and every time it's impressed the rooms are clean and fancy, the beds provide an unreal sleep and the spa services in the morning get you ready for the days activities all in all highly recommended to anybody staying over in Manchester
"Nice but awkward to reach & expensive car parking"
It looked as though we were placed in a disabled room which ment it was very spacious. The room was clean and i can't say anything negative about the room/hotel itself. However, their private car park was quite expensive. For 24hrs, it cost £20. We were reluctant to pay this but because we were not familiar with the area, we didn't know where else to safely park (lots of double yellow lined streets). We were often 'suckered' by the one way streets and back streets that all looked the same. There was a main road that lead past the hotel but couldn't be accessed from it. It seemed it could only be accessed via back streets and this wasn't easy, particularly with all the buses only areas. Overall, a nice hotel, just the price of parking and access to the hotel that was an issue for us.
So I stayed at your hotel last night. It took about 15 minutes maybe more to get checked in. Only one lift working so that was more time I had wait around. Got to my room and yes the room was lovely. It was clean. So as it was an occasion to go out with my friends I wanted to listen to music as you do to get ready. The docking station wasn't working. Surprise surprise. Maintenance came to look but didn't really have a clue either. So I went to reception and said "the tv has music channels" but not the music I listen to. So then I went out and came back early hours of the morning. And went to bed. The room was freezing and I was shaking trying to get warm. So my sleep wasn't that great either. I complained this morning after check out to be told "You should've called and maintenance would've been called up" Well I didn't fancy waiting around or to be moved rooms at 3am!! And to be told "sorry we will upgrade your room when you return to our hotel" I don't want a upgrade. This is meant to be a 4* hotel but got a 2* service. I paid a lot of money to stay here. If I went to premier Inn I reckon I'd have a better night sleep and service with half the price. You don't always get what you pay for. Disappointed to say the least.
I stayed here on business and have to say that the whole experience was a positive one. from the moment I checked in we were given first class service with a smile. Everyone we came into contact with looked genuinely happy to be there, which in turn made our stay that bit more special. Special praise to Maria who served us in the Scottish Steak House, great product knowledge and warm, sincere service. well done Macdonald Manchester.
"Panoramic Junior Suite"
My wife and I stayed here this weekend, and were treated to a gorgeous suite (room 702) which gave soarring views over Piccadilly station and the surrounding area. After a wait of around 10 minutes to check in we arrived to our room ...and what a treat it was. A bottle of wine and 2 chocolates greeted us along with tour guides and other useful information. The Nespresso coffee machine was a welcome addition whilst the Apothecary toiletries were greatly received by my wife. Our king sized bed was comfortable and concierge provided us with different pillows at our request. We dined out and returned to the hotel later - and concierge were again quick to bring us some hot milk at our request. The hotel despite being full was impressively quiet at night and we both awoke feeling refreshed. And the breakfast was superb! Loved the produce, high quality sausage and bacon, freshly squeezed juice and delicious hand cut bread with salted butter. Top marks!
