"The perfect honeymoon"
Number one on our bucket list Seychelles We couldn't have found a more perfect place than Maia resort, perfect for honeymoon or just a get away from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life, of you want just you time this is the place to go, The restaurant was great plenty to choose from I recommend the creole curry ( very yummy ) staff were great helpful and always smiling, bar man was lovely too try his own creation of a basil cocktail it's not on the menu but it's lovely, Would defiantly recommend the spa too there lovely people and do a great job of getting your knots out !!, The resort is beautiful and views are amazing, at dusk and dawn you will see fruit bats flying around at first I was a little shocked at these giant bats the same size as my dogs, But they became an infatuation to get a picture . We had room 205 for 2 weeks, perfect room perfect spot our own little private beach and our new found friend ( butler ) Nehemiah, he was amazing what a great guy no problem big or small, every morning he would greet us with a huge smile and breakfast, looked after us in every way and made us laugh and smile each day. We can't thank him enough for the way he has treated us, and we will miss him. Thank you too all the staff at Maia for a perfect honeymoon we will be back to celebrate again soon.
We went the Maia for 2 weeks for our honeymoon What a fantastic place Nehemiah (bob) our butler was absolutely perfect, every day we had breakfast on our terrace which was a perfect start to our day We had barbecues on the beach and in our villa, cocktails in our veranda every night as the sun went down, all brought to us with a good heart and a big smile. We will really miss him when we leave on Tuesday 😞 Thanks for everything Nehemiah, your a star Maia in general is a really great place from the food to the atmosphere. extremely friendly people from the waiters to the gardeners all made us really welcome and always had a smile. Well done Maia perfect honeymoon.
"Quaintly Old Fashioned"
Maia opened almost ten years ago and it is hardly surprising, therefore, that some of the bathroom fittings, for example, are beginning to look a bit dated. It is clear, however, that the property has been subject to a rigorous programme of maintenance over time; each of the 30 villas is absolutely immaculate, as is the entire estate, and the view from the infinity pool with which each villa is provided is simply spectacular. Our butler was almost over zealous in his desire to ensure that we wanted for nothing but elsewhere the service - while unfailingly, delightfully smiley and helpful - was a bit haphazard. It is a pity that there is only one restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner with no attractive optional locations - the beach with its attendant sandflies, the helipad (!) or room service. The food is OK with separate Thai, Creole, Indian, Japanese and Mediterranean menus, plus a daily tasting menu. Even given all these options it is hard after a couple of days to choose something you really want to eat. The fresh fish is very good, but the dessert menu is poor - best to stick to ice cream or sorbets. The all inclusive arrangement is generous with no need to stray from the complimentary wine list to the expensive premium options. The barman mixes excellent cocktails. Maia is a pleasant enough place to stay for a few days, perhaps because of its quaintly old fashioned atmosphere, but you should not expect the cutting edge experience of the more modern resorts in south east Asia or the Maldives.
"Even though 4 stars, this place is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Pure Paradise"
Let me repeat my title for more clarity. While I am giving Maia only 4 stars, instead of 5, I am basing that solely on value for money and what came with the experience. The experience is a must do if you can splurge for this type of Hotel. I have never done ANYTHING like this, but we decided to indulge for my wife's special birthday. Pro's: Fantastic Villa that is like nothing I ever imagined I would stay in Our butler Chandon was fantastic and went out of his way to make us feel special An amazing setting that is remarkably private, with an almost private beach Fantastically landscaped grounds All inclusive dining with a Very decent wine list Included Scuba in certain packages Paradise on earth Con's: Food was not 5 star in our book. While the dinner selection was quite good, some of it was only good, and not on par what we have experienced on some luxury cruises. That's it. I am knocking off a star for food. Everything else was over the top and I would go back in a heart beat if I could afford it again. If you are even looking at this place, book now. You'll never forget the memories you will get from staying here.
We stayed at the Maia for 11 nights on our Honeymoon. We stayed in Villa 219 We were greeted on arrival by the General Manager and taken straight to our villa by buggy where we met our butler, Bishnu and were checked in by one of the Guest Relations staff. First impressions of the villa were outstanding. The view was incredible, looking out over Anse Boileau to the islands beyond was something that we could never tire of. The villa consists of a thatched day bed area with a dining table and small kitchen area. There is a fridge and an ice machine. The pool, big enough to swim in, has an infinity edge which enhances the view. The bedroom has lots of space and loads of seating, a couch, 2 armchairs with footstools etc. The air-con was great. We didn't use the TV but there seemed to be a reasonable range of international channels. The bedroom leads through to the bathroom/wardrobe area. Separate sinks, superb shower with wonderful water pressure and an out door sunken bath. Quite a surreal experience laying in the bath with that vista to look at. There are 2 sun loungers which sit in a shallow extension to the pool. There is just one restaurant, the TecTec, which serves different cuisines and is open all day. We chose to have breakfast there most mornings although we also had breakfast in our villa sometimes. The Maia's 'Beyond All Inclusive' concept takes a little getting used to but once you do it is wonderful. You can pretty much eat what you want when you want. Nicholas, the Maitre D' in TecTec would ask us "What would you love to eat tonight'" Have a look at the menu by all means to get a few ideas but then just tell Nicholas what you feel like, be as detailed or as vague as you like and he and the chefs will come up with a beautiful meal time and time again. All the staff in the restaurant were great but Tina deserves a big thank you for lighting up each day with her smile. The included wine list is fairly extensive and you would need to be a real wine connoisseur (not to mention fairly extravagant) to go off piste and pay for the Reserve Wine List! The food at breakfast was great too although if you want dishes to arrive in sequence rather than all at the same time you do need to make this clear when you are ordering. The main pool is lovely although it isn't used much, most guests seem to stay in their villas. There are comfortable sun loungers which the staff will move to wherever you want them. We spent the first half of most days laying on the beautiful beach. You need to walk half way up the beach to swim in order to avoid the reef, in September the waves can be very powerful depending on the weather, the had some calm days but also some pretty rough ones. Our Butler, Bishnu really made our stay at the Maia. He was there when we needed him and discrete when we didn't. He organised and served meals in the villa, tidied up after us and generally made sure that we didn't have to think of anything whilst we were there. He always had our favorite drinks chilling in the fridge and arranged flowers and snacks to surprise us when we would return to our villa. He booked spa treatments for us, organised a car for a trip into Victoria and suggested and organised a number of dinners for us in different locations around the resort. Our stay wouldn't have been half as special without his help. The only negative point, and easily fixed, was the lack of visibility of management. Other than our welcome on arrival, management was not to be seen. I would have expected in a resort like this that the General Manager or a resort manager would have been visible, chatting to guests occasionally and just checking all was as it should be. All in all we had a wonderful stay in this delightful resort and will plan a return visit for an anniversary in a couple of years.
