Good location in Makati. Really friendly helpful staff. Hotel itself is a bit tired and dated. Rooms are a good size, clean and tidy. When I checked in the first room I was given had a strong odour so they quickly changed it for me. The pool was closed for the entire duration of my stay which wasn't great. The food was ok, not exceptional. The spa was expensive with poor service would not recommend. treatment received was completely not as described.
Celebrated our wedding anniversary and my husband could not have chosen better! We stayed in executive room with use of the executive lounge. Food was overflowing. Breakfast buffet included a la carte from the menu. Service was great! Christmas decor was a plus. It made our anniversary even more special!

I had planned a slight detour from the airport when my wife had returned from Thailand. The staff at the Shangri La was extremely helpful in arranging the delivery of flowers, wine, and mangos. The room was very nice, the staff was attentive, and the service was impeccable. The perfect romantic escape if even for one evening.

I stayed here last week, and it was a good business stay. Checkin and checkout were quick and friendly. The room was spacious and well appointed. Very comfy bed and good/clean/modern bathroom. Lobby and restaurant areas are nicely designed. Good room service and breakfast---although bfast not included in room rate.
I am so disappointed with his hotel. It has gone to extremes of cutting costs it's disgusting. We sent our guests here from Canada because we have been coming to this hotel for less than 10 years. Each stay is a duration of at least 2 months. Incident 1. While my friend was in the restroom the bathroom glass door fell on her. They left the same day for an out of towner. Came back after 3 days Here is what happened when they checked in Incident 2. The ceiling leaked with water! I know the management gave them a free upgrade. However these things are not supposed to happen on a 5 star hotel. Maybe in a rinky dinky hotel but not in a 5 star hotel! Our guests were so pissed they moved to Fairmont. How embarrassing! They have removed goodies out of the breakfast buffet too. I used to have steamed veggies at the Chinese section, no more steamed bun! Food quality has gone down from good to bad. The waffle is paper thin they might as well just call it a fan not a waffle. The wait staff are mostly new and they have very little training. They should train them how to be more familiar with long staying guests. The experience is never the same when you have new staff who have very little training and who does not know what to get Long staying guests. We love coming at the Shang because of the experience but it's just not the same as it used to be. They have removed so many channels on the cable. The movie channels are gone! Oh yes they took out Disney too😡. So many channels are empty. They said they will fix it but who knows they may just remove the empty channels so you could browse on the very little that is left. We'll see. Oh yes the pool. We left The Philippines for Canada on Aug 2 and came back Nov 17 and the pool still is still being renovated. We looked and they did not change the layout. Maybe they are fixing the plumbing system but externally it looks the same to us. How much time do you really need to finish the pool on time' They originally said it will be done this year and next thing you know they say it will be done next year. They have transports guests from this hotel to Shangrila Fort just so they could use the pool. How ridiculous! They said they are renovating the rooms next year. They also said they are limiting the areas that are carpeted😡 really'''!!! Are they kidding!' I hope... The rooms should be carpeted! If anything the beds need to be replaced because they are so hard we have to have them put 2 mattress toppers for us. So many of the good people in this hotel have left so we are stuck with some staff that barely knows what they are doing. I will miss those who will leave the hotel this year and I missed the ones that left too. I wish all the best to Jing from the concierge, Marnie and Ariel from Horizon, Rachel from room service etc. Shangrila Makati hotel did not have such high attrition rate which leads me to conclude there is problem with the management. Time to replace the GM in this hotel I think.
