This is my first time to Manila due to the conference take place in this hotel. How amazed I am to see the room. The room is very spacious and comfy, especially the pillows are very soft and plenty of them. The wifi connection is very strong everywhere inside the hotel. The bathroom has shower area and bathtub. The complementary of fruits are coming everyday. The gym, tennis court and swimming pool are available here. The buffet breakfast in Circles Event Restaurant has varieties of dishes and they are delicious. A view from my room at 11th floor is great, in the morning and at night. Overall my visit here is pleasant and feeling at home. I definitely want to come back to this hotel again 😉👌🏼
"Smack in the middle of greenbelt"
Awesome if you are into staying in the heart of green belt. Good food and shopping are just at your door step. The hotel is slightly dated and needs some renovation. But it's functional and the house keeping team are very attentive if you have any complains or suggestion. The house keeping team is also always with a smile and would leave personal notes or cute towel origami in your room! I like that the hotel looks at how they can increase the check in process efficiency and if they know you are coming in, they station a guest relation staff to allow check in in the room itself. I had an early flight on my last visit and the staff were awesome and prepared a breakfast pack for me to eat on the way to the airport. Thumbs up to the team for taking the initiative on this! Overall, highly recommended for the location and service staff.
"Not reflective of the so called Shangri La experience. Average at best."
Old fashioned rooms which lack personal touches. You could be staying anywhere. Poor views as well. Crap bath. Hard sell at check in to upgrade to the executive club lounge where apparently 'cocktails and hor d'oeurves' were being offered for free as part of the upgrade. Translation-a very average self service buffet and bar. No cocktails, no elegance. We insisted on our money back. Pool area very underwhelming as well. No lushness or comfort like I have experienced at other Shangri La's. A disappointing end to a fantastic holiday in the Philippines. This hotel needs a refurb badly!
"Nice but now new"
This hotel reminds me of an old cruise liner; impressively high quality rooms and public areas, with top-notch service, but with the feel of a somewhat bygone era. All the staff I dealt with were excellent. In fact, I can’t think of anything I would suggest to improve the service. There isn’t much to criticise. The Club Lounge struggles to cope with the number of guests; I had to wait a while to get a seat at a table. And I was surprised how much noise travelled into the room from the corridor; enough to wake me up at 1am (even though people didn’t sound like they were being any more noisy than usual). I’ve not given the hotel a top score for two reasons. Firstly, it was too expensive. Not more expensive than the other five-star properties that are clustered around the same area in Makati but just a little too much for what it offers in my view. Secondly, the obvious vintage of the rooms means that I just didn’t have power points where I needed them. I would be very happy to stay here again.
