"Feel at home"
Makati Shangri-La Manila is not a new hotel but I think it has lived up to my standards. The Shangri-La experience is what I love about this hotel. Everything is just great. The rooms are modern and clean. The health club is really great, and the lobby lounge is lovely. I just hope they add more selections to the menu of the lobby lounge. Outside the hotel you can walk toward shopping malls and offices. So, whether you are checking in for business or pleasure, or staycation, I think this hotel is worth a try.
"Rooms need renovation, transport a rip off"
I stayed at Makati Shangri La just for one night while transiting in Manila for work. Shangri La hotels have a reputation to live up to and the lobby and common areas do. The rooms however, while comfortable and good quality need renovations and a facelift. But what really shocked me was the price of the transportation services they offer. The cost of transportation to the airport is 2550 pesos when you can pay 170pesos for a 'grab' (similar to Uber), as I did. Not to mention that when you ask for a normal taxi the hotel never seems to manage to find one. For another trip they asked me for 1100, when an Uber did it for 170p. I guess it is normal to pay a premium for hotel cars (these are not limousines, this is the price they provide for a 'small car'). But a 10x factor is really a rip off, especially when the hotel does not seem to facilitate alternatives (ie taxis).
"Wrong Signage on 28th floor"
I have feedback that to the hotel that the 28th floor signage is not correct. Their reply surprised me for 5-star hotel. Their reply, they will correct the problem when they are doing the next upgrading process. Wonder when will that be'
"Consistent Customer Experience"
There is no point in reviewing products like LV so I have never reviewed my stays here. However, in a decentralised media environment of today, things changed. S,o I shall give it a go. This time, I only stayed for 2 nights. I was going to try the newly opened Shangri-la at the Fort but bad reviews put me off so I had booked myself once again on the horizon floor in Makati. (BTW, the bad reviews were justified as I popped in one evening, where we had to walk past through reception, then up the lift to level 5, if I remember it correctly, to Kerry Sports basketball court. But when we got close to the lift, the so called "Essence of Shangri-la" was replace by this pungent odour). The horizon lounge is open 24/7 even when they are hoovering in the early hours of the morning. (unlike the hotel nearby where the "G" lounge shuts at midnight. I always try the neighbouring hotels to see what they have to offer but so far no other hotel can match or come close yet in Makati or in the entire Metro Manila in my view. Shangri-la Makati has been providing me and its customers outstanding consistent customer experience for a number of years now. There really is no point in reviewing products like LV...
"This is your home away from home"
Although our go-to staycation is EDSA Shangri-la, my husband and I decided to try Makati Shangri-la for our anniversary celebration and I must say, we had an amazing stay. Exceptional service, clean and comfortable room and lots of restaurants near the area.
