"Not the best place in Makkah"
its a huge structure with good sized rooms, but the quality of the bathroom fitting was not good at all. Lots of leaks and seepage in washrooms. The false-ceiling actually fell off when there was a major wind storm in Makkah on Sep 11, 2015. The restaurants are good and the house-keeping staff is very professional and courteous.
"Blood on the bed sheet!! "
Actually I have booked at Fairmont thinking it's best hotel at Makka but l disappointed when l saw this agly view. When l called room service they sent a polite guy while he changed the sheet below the cover he found big dirty spot on the last sheet but l could not take photo because I was very tired.
"Worst hotel I've ever been to !!!"
We've chosen Fairmont over other excellent hotels in Mecca since we truly love this Hotel brand (used to actually) ... We arrived from riyadh to jeddah then took a car to mecca after a tiring trip .. we arrived 4:30 pm on Thursday 11th of May ... surprisingly our room was not yet ready for check in !! Although worldwide check in time is 2:00 pm .. we've been asked to wait and they will call us when the room is ready .. we waited until 5:15 pm and i asked my husband to go himself and check if the room is ready, they told him yeah u can go to ur room !! So it was ready but no one informed us !! We went to our room (no one escorted us we had to figure everything out ourselves) to find a filthy room, broken furniture and not the Fairmont standard we know ... we were so tired to we slept for couple of hours then went to perform oumra ... we came back and ordered dinner (their menu has very limited choices and is over priced) .. the food was okay, not so good but not so bad .. we asked them for mayo and mustard 2 times but we never got it .. my order was cheese burger and it was sooo dry (both beef patty and the bun) ... next day we left to jeddah and before leaving our room we asked the housekeeping guy to clean the room since it wasn't cleaned the day before .. we spent the whole day in jeddah and came back at 12:30 am to find that our room was not cleaned !!!! My husband called the housekeeping to tell them the room was not cleaned and that we need someone to clean it .. their answer : sorry sir we clean only once in the morning !! My husband told them it wasn't even touched, and they said u probably forgot to remove the (don't disturb) sign !!! We told them it was not hung on the door in the first place plus we saw the housekeeping guy and asked him to clean our room .. they said sorry we can do nothing about it and u can complain to the manager !!!! My husband asked them to transfer the call to their manager, so they hung up the call !!! We got so angry and my husband went down to the reception to complain and they said they will send someone to clean and their excuse was : the housekeeping take their orders from their manager not from the guest !!! Seriously !!! We've been to dozens of hotels all around the world and whenever we needed the housekeeping we called them directly and they never told us refer back to our manager !!! What kind of hotel is this !!! Even those who work at the hotel are so rude (most of them), not even a smile on their faces ... upon check out no one thought about asking how was ur stay !! I advice anyone who is considering this hotel to switch to any other hotel and pay ur money in a place where u will be served and welcomed, and that place is definitely not Fairmont Mecca ...
"check out go delayed for more than 2 hours"
I stayed at the 'Makkah Clock Royal Tower, A Fairmont Hotel' for three nights, with my parents. My check out was scheduled at 11:30 AM on 29th April 2017. I called and scheduled the baggage pick up early morning and also visited the reception to make sure that there won't be any delay. Nobody turned up at 11:30 and I had to call 6 times before someone came to pick the baggage up. The voice on the phone was not at all apologetic. Also, not even once I was told that there will be a delay. Each time I was told, that the staff was coming to pick it up. Finally, when we and our baggage arrived at the basement after more than an hour's delay, our vehicle was sent back by the security as the people at the basement failed to send the vehicle number to the gate. The driver had to take another round and come back. By the time we left the hotel it was 1:30. 2 hours delay, just for check out. The staff at the basement and the one who brought our baggage down were very polite and apologetic. But that doesn't compensate the confusion the hotel created during check out.
"Very Comfortable Stay"
From the point of arrival (private car arrival at basement, under tunnel entrance, all hotels clustered at the Clock Tower and its connecting buildings have basement entries for taxi and private car arrivals) to our departure from this hotel, their service has been prompt, efficient and friendly. We had booked via email and confirmation replies that followed were prompt and clear. Stayed in a room with twin beds overlooking the city. Our room rate included daily buffet breakfast- good wide selection. Room was big and beds very comfy. Room was clean but we could see the furnishings were starting to show wear and tear. Bathroom was huge with separate shower and toilet areas. Toiletries were supplied too. Water pressure great and aircon was cold. Prayer call and prayer proceedings from the Haram Mosque was audio broadcast in the rooms with volume control. Concierge had helped with transport transfer for our departure to airport with their limousine taxi service at a reasonable rates. Smooth check out and departure. Their international staff were friendly and helpful every step of the way. As we were on the 34th floor, elevator use was the mode of travel to get to the Haram Mosque. Took us about 5min to get from room to Tawaf floor in the Haram Mosque. This hotel sits atop of a HUGE mall/ complex with shops, cafes, fast food joints and foodcourts aplenty, plus SIM card shops and even an observation deck ( charges apply ) in the Clock Tower. There is also a 24hr hypermarket in the mall. Super convenient. There is a hotel prayer room at S2 level w a great top view of the Kaabah if you are pressed for time to make it to the Haram Mosque. Overall experience was great. Will definitely be back.
