"Great weekend in Liverpool"
Had stayed in malmaison Oxford and Birmingham both were excellent so decided to stay at this hotel when going to Liverpool Was disappointed in the room compared with the other two hotels the room was small and fairly basic for this standard of hotel and price but nevertheless everything else was fine staff very friendly and the bar had a good atmosphere.
"Anniversary night away"
Stayed at the Mal in Liverpool for our wedding anniversary as a surprise for my wife and we both enjoyed it. We checked in over the Halloween weekend and the hotel was suitably decked out, even the staff were in character. Lovely staff on hand at all times and waiter service at the bar which was quick and efficient even when it got busy around happy hour. We had a standard river view room which offered great views of the Liver building and over the river where I watched HMS Dragon arrive in the afternoon and dock up for the weekend, it was also open to the public the day after which was a two minute walk from the hotel to take advantage of :) We had a lovely breakfast the morning after before heading off shopping to the Liverpool one which was around ten minutes walk away. Overall a lovely stay and would not hesitate to book again in the future. Thanks Mal :)
"Our stay at the Malmaison Liverpool"
On arrival we spoke to a member of the hotel who told us we could park at the Carpark next to the hotel which cost money obviously. It was late as we had a 8 hour journey so we weren't thinking. We then went back to the hotel and then realised how were we going to get our heavy luggage from the car park to the hotel. Nice of the chap to tell us this. Back to the carpark, drive out to the hotel and drop off luggage, pay again for carpark. Carry heavy luggage up steps to hotel with a bad back, not good. Get to our room, nice cup of tea but there was no tea. Well it's late and time for sleep but what's that noise. 5th floor and the nightclub down stairs can be heard till around 1.30am. Room was nice, bed was good and a great shower in the morning. The night before we were told breakfast wasn't included. Next morning one of us had breakfast being diabetic. Then we were told it was included so I could of had breakfast too. Not great communication in this hotel.
"Great Hotel but Serious Bar Issues"
Stayed in the Malmaison one Sunday in November for a reasonable price of £95. Had a standard room overlooking the road but the window noise insulation is very good. The room was fine: good bath tub, great walk-in shower, large comfortable bed and pillows. The lighting in the room and hotel in general is not brilliant by design - ok for younger people but oldies may stumble. Booked a table in the restaurant for 19.30 and went down at 19.00 to the bar to have a drink. Went-in, sat down and ordered 2 glasses of white wine. After 15 minutes nothing had appeared. Made many efforts to get the waitress's attention but she either ignored us or just disappeared for minutes on end. It should be noted that there weer 2-3 people behind the bar who were similarly not too bothered - spending about 10 minutes to make one cocktail. At 19.25 i had had enough and went and cancelled the dinner reservation - I don't reward such poor customer service with my service. Going back into the bar I went back to our table to gather phone, coat etc and suddenly the waitress appeared and said i'll bring your drinks. I told her not to bother. We walked 10 minutes to Albert Dock and had a good meal and drinks in the Cuban revolution restaurant. So all the reviews you read about the poor bar service are true - this time it cost them £100 in lost revenue. How much much it be costing them per week' per month' Liverpool is one place where there is no shortage of bars or restos. Management needs to get a firm grip over the bar-staff's lackadaisical couldn't care less attitude before it spreads to the hotel staff (who were very good). It's impacting your bottom line and harming the brand.
"A Pretty Good Hotel"
This hotel is in a fantastic location, has a good bar, friendly helpful staff and good rooms. The Sunday lunch was excellent too. We would happily stay here again. However the state of the carpet in our room was unacceptable in a hotel of this price and quality
