Stayed here at the the weekend. Must say overall experience was brilliant. Staff lovely, hotel and room fab. We eat in the hotel which my food was really nice. My boyfriend didn't enjoy his risotto as the garlic was far too much however this was quickly removed and he was offered something else instead. The meal was taken off the bill no questions asked. The breakfast isn't huge but it's lovely and enough to set you up for the day. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and hopefully will return to stay soon.
"Style over substance"
Just had a one night stay at the Malmaison Liverpool, the dark interior and chunky furniture was stylish in reception and staff friendly and warm. Even darker in the bedrooms with very faded black furniture which isn't wearing well but it's the bed that didn't cut the mustard! I would have thought they would have spent a bit more money on the mattress. So hard and uncomfortable even my niece in the next room told me at breakfast that she had the worse nights sleep of her life. Staff at breakfast were very pleasant and helpful but I will not be recommending this hotel due to the awful nights sleep.
"Small rooms and overpriced."
£125 pound for a standard room without breakfast' This seemed very over priced as the room was not special in anyway. It was rather small. The hotel itself is located on the docks of liverpool with spectacular views however I was not able to see this as I had the standard room. The hotel does not have free parking but suggests the use of the multi-storey car park next door. This was very pricey and not mentioned when booking the hotel. For one night parking came to £15. Would not recommend.
My fiancé surprised me with a stay at the Malmaison Hotel! If you're needing to warm up and want a comfortable bed - look no further. The Malmaison was a perfect place to stay in winter, with a real fire at Reception and heating in the room, I was snug as a bug. My fiancé looked on Trivago and said that it was cheaper booking on Malmaison's website as it included two glasses of prosecco & breakfast in this particular deal. The Receptionist was polite, our room was clean, tidy and well stocked up. Our mattress was comfortable and we had two pillows each, though we could have done with a firmer option. There was a blackout blind, tv, desk & chair, shower, huge bath, 3 large mirrors, shampoo, shower gel, soap, an iron, tea & coffee, a wardrobe with hangers, a safe, mini bar, snacks & wine and plenty of lamps. We had a large towel and a small towel each but only one flannel. The heated towel rack was a nice feature but our favourite thing was the bath big enough for two! I recommend asking for a room with a bath if you love having a soak! Breakfast was delicious, as were our late room-service toasties. If you want to stay near the beautiful Albert Dock with zero street noise and close to buses, shops, the City Centre and train stations then this is a great place to stay!
"Not a business hotel. Cold shower!"
I want 5 things on a simple business overnight stay. Dinner, breakfast, sleep, shower and a place to work. I got 3 out of 5 at malmaison. The desk has no chair just a pouffe. I'm over 6 feet tall but working at the desk was impossible - it is at near chin level. I can send the odd email perched on the couch but I had a couple of hours of work to do. I gave up and went to my local office : more comfortable. The desk light didn't work. Complained. Promised replacement. None came. Then in the morning, a cold shower. Temp dial broken. Now, I'd forgive that if I thought I was the first to complain but I go back to the light. Was I the first person to notice the shower didn't work' Or do things just not get fixed' No-one has sat at that desk and thought it a suitable place to work. Or do ones make-up for that matter. So I conclude that there is a lack of attention to detail in the fit out. Hotel furniture starting to get tired - the black doesn't wear well. Bathroom nice and the styling fine. Dinner was great, hot breakfast great, cold breakfast quite limited. Bed fine, very clean. I'm sure it's great for a romantic weekend and all the styling seems geared to that. But i've been more comfortable at a travel lodge. At least the showers are hot. Won't stay again.
