The Mandalay Bay is ideally located on the south end of the Strip. It is only an 8-minute drive to McCarran International Airport and a 20-minute drive to the North Las Vegas Airport. The Bellagio Fountains and the Mob are respectively reachable within a 6-minute drive and a 9-minute drive.

"Family trip to Vegas - excellent hotel."
I have to admit, I had my doubts by reading the reviews prior to my trip, but this hotel had been recommended on the forum. Going to Vegas for a week with my husband, 18 yrs old and 9 yrs old, I wanted a family friendly hotel with a great pool. We received what we wanted. We did spend quite a bit of time at the 'beach'. The pool temperature was great, we always found loungers and staff was very friendly. Kids loved the wave pool, the lazy river and the 2 pools they could go to, as well as the hot tub. I found it clean and liked the 'sand' underneath the loungers. To note : we had brought our own tubes, which they blew up for free. I also enjoyed the fact that when getting back to the hotel by taxi or going to the reception, we could go straight to our room; or the pool, without having to go through the casino. The free tram to Excalibur and the Luxor was through the casino, as were the buffet and restaurants, but that was fine with us. Concierge was very helpful and knowledgeable. I guess we were lucky. On both our check-in and check-out days, the line to the reception was quite fast. On check-in day, my hubby barely had time to get me a drink while I waited in line that I had made it to the front. As we were quite unlucky that trip and all of our luggages were lost, the Mandalay Bay receptionist that helped me at check-in was particularly helpful in getting us a room prior to 4 PM and provide us with a few emergency kits. It was greatly received by all of us and it's too bad I cannot remember her name. I also much appreciated Bell Services that delivered our bags at 4 AM (at my request to be notified as soon as they came in), it allowed me to sleep easy for the rest of the night. Housekeeping was fine, fixing the bathtub that we never managed to close properly; or delivered extra luggage stands quickly. The room itself was a good size, with a sitting area overlooking the strip, 2 queen beds, office desk and large bathroom. The was also 2 closets. Beds were very comfortable. On our last night, a Friday night however, there was very loud music coming from somewhere below. I am not sure where it came from, but it was quite annoying. I am not sure if other week-end nights are like that. Yep, coffee is expensive and do not touch the fridge as you will be charged. We had brought our own K-kups and that worked for us. There is also a McDonald's across the street with cheap prices. The hotel is indeed at the end of the strip. However, it has a free tram to Excalibur, which is easy walking distance to NY NY and MGM. So we had split our touring days into 'sections' of the Strip, and Grabbed a few cabs to go or come back from other hôtels. That worked well, and averaged 15 to 20 $ per ride, which was fine with us. So, for a family trip, this is an excellent hotel. I felt that kids there were well-behaved (no hords of screaming kids) and made it a great family destination for a Vegas homebase.
"Best Days behind it."
Mandalay and Delano share the same space. We stayed at the Delano (the former "The Hotel") because we were meeting a group for a birthday weekend. We booked a scenic view corner suite with a request for a high floor. When we arrived, we were assigned a 3rd floor room, with a view of bird droppings on the roof. After calling to request a room change, we were given a room on the 19th Fl.....so why put us in the 3rd floor room to begin with' The room was clean, but outdated....and there is a $33/day plus tax "resort fee". For that money, you would expect a fairly nice gym, but you don't get one. The Eyebar in the middle of the casino was nearly empty 24/7 and started closing at 1:00 AM (really' this is Vegas') and the drink prices were worse than strip club rates. The blackjack payouts were 6-5 - that's right 6-5 ... and you can't split cards as you'd expect. If you want to plan blackjack, go elsewhere ... and if you want to play video poker/blackjack at the bar and get free drinks, don't expect to have a conversation with your friend or the bartender will gruffly announce "I'm not going to comp that drink". If you have ever walked through the casino with your girlfriend after a night at the clubs, you know that there can be a little drama. Typically, staff effectively smooth things over - not here. Mandalay Bay staff resort to intimidation, insults and empty threats. I saw it on 3 occasions, and experienced it myself. Finally - an 11:00 checkout with no exceptions' That's crazy. The best thing I can say is that the staff at the bell desk were professional and helpful. There are far better options on the Strip - I do not plan to return unless significant changes are made.
"North of the Strip - Away from it all"
Truly away from it all on the North end of the Strip which is a good thing and bad. Because you have to take a taxi to reach the other hotspots on the Strip 🙄 the rooms are not sound proof. God help if you get a room b side a noisy neighbor 😲 The room itself was pretty well designed well upholstered.
"Nice, clean, and friendly staff"
I was here for a conference in 2015. There are a ton of restaurants, shopping, coffee houses, etc. without ever leaving the resort. There's a McDonalds, Subway, Convenience Store, Liquor Store and a couple of other places just across the street! Sky tram will pick you up at this resort and take you down the strip. Skyway connects to the Luxor. I could see how staying at the Luxor for a conference in the Mandalay Bay would be very convenient and less expensive. I didn't use the pool area, but did take a quick look. It appeared to have a lazy river, large outdoor pool areas, cabanas, etc.
The best hotel we've stayed in. Room & bath are spacious. The pools and lazy river are relaxing. Casino is great and they have a tram to nearby hotels. Loved the whole experience and atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back.
