"The Best of Hong Kong"
I am usually critical of the best hotels around the world because you start to expect the best and anything less is not acceptable, but when it comes to the Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong I have found it impossible to find anything to criticize. The attention to the customer and timing of their reproach makes you feel like you have walked into paradise. The style and exuberance of quality is second to none. I have stayed at many top hotels around the world but this is the best of the best. First Class.
"Fantastic Hotel! Best in Hong Kong!"
I recently spent 4 nights at the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong. The stay was wonderful. The hotel is fantastic, the staff is incredible and the location is perfect. This is probably the best hotel in Hong Kong. The Landmark Mandarin Oriental is also excellent but this hotel has the history and reputation of being the best. It did not disappoint. Location: The hotel is well situated in Central on Hong Kong Island. It is a short walk to SOHO, LKF, Hong Kong Park, Pacific Place and the Star Ferry to Kowloon. I was able to walk all over central. It is a $300HKD taxi ride from the airport or $365 HKD for uber and takes about 30 minutes. The airport express station is about a 300 m walk from the hotel and is also a quick viable option. A taxi to Kowloon costs about $160 HKD due to tolls. The hotel can arrange a Mercedes pickup for $1200 HKD which is ludicrous. Overall the location is perfect if you want to be on Hong Kong Island. Internet: The internet is free throughout the hotel, just put your name and room number in. Service: The staff here is incredible. Jimmy the doorman is hilarious and very nice. The staff will do just about anything and do it with a smile. Elif, our waitresses at breakfast was amazing and so polite. She was a pleasure and always willing to help. The spa attendants were great and provide towels, water, sandals or anything else needed. The maid service is spectacular. The room is cleaned quickly and there are lots of little touches. Clothes are folded, my book was open on the night stand and a MO book mark was placed in it, tea and coffee refilled daily in the room along with towels. The amount of staff at the hotel is amazing. Overall impeccable service. Gym: The hotel has one of the best hotel gyms you will find. There are 10 treadmills, ellipticals, a rowing machine, bikes, free weights, weight machines and other fitness equipment. There are cold towels, refrigerators with cold water and juices. Training sessions are available. I used the gym everyday and it was great. Spa: The men's locker room is very nice on the 24th floor. There is a steam room, sauna, hot tub and cold plunge which are wonderful. There is also a massage pool for the women. The pool is on the 25th floor. It is free to access these facilities. The treatments are very good but pricey considering the surrounding area has massages for $250 HKD /hour. Room: I had a normal room which is very nice. It is spacious and comfortable. The bed is excellent. There is a separate toilet and shower. The room has plenty of outlets for all types of plugs and controls for the lights. There is an in room nespresso machine and tea pot. There are also plenty of toiletries including dental kit, sewing kit, deodorant etc. There is a basket for shoes where complimentary shoe shines are provided. Food: We had breakfast everyday at Clipper Lounge. The Buffet is $312 HKD including service. There is an omelette station, fruit pastries, dim sum station, noodle bowl station, meats, cheeses, juices, sausages, bacon, hash browns and waffles on order. Bottles of water are included as is coffee , cappuccinos, tea etc. A great way to start the day. The Mandarin Cake Shop is very nice for pastries. The Captains Bar is great for pre dinner cocktails and famous for it. Definitely check it out. The quality is excellent here. Man Wah on the 25th floor is great for upscale expensive chinese food. Overall: A no brainer staying here if you want to be in Central. Hotel is amazing in every way. It is not the cheapest hotel, around $4100 HKD per night but worth it. I will stay here again 100%.
"Why would you stay anywhere else'"
The only way to start this review is with a big wow. Transfers from Airport to hotel were arranged but we did not expect the excellent level of transfer although normal Mandarin Transfers are brilliant. We were met off the aircraft with a buggy, rushed through the airport, dropped at immigration and told we would be met the other side by the same host. We got through immigration and we were warmly re greeted. The host collected our bags from the carousel and took us to the car. The Chauffeur was very courteous and most professional. Upon arrival to the hotel we were whisked to our Suite - The Lichfield Suite to be checked in. Being shown around the room we were not only in love with the amazing room but as always the Hong Kong views capture your heart. The Suite had everything we needed and more, the bathroom was amazing and the bedroom inter connected to each room. The furnishing were beautiful. Room service was great and in room breakfast which ordinarily we never take advantage of was great and served hot. We ate in Man Wah in the Cantonese restaurant in the Hotel on the top floors but had a crafty cocktail in the bar first. The 2 course duck is a must have, the best duck pancakes we've ever eaten. We used the spa area late on the evening we flew home before the airport transfer and we wish we had more time, it was single sex facilities but super relaxing with every amenity needed to refresh. Transfers back to the airport were equally as delightful with us not touching our bags after packing them until we arrived in Back into London. Overall a beautiful well located hotel, worth the money and as per the Bangkok Mandarin you can see why the hotel was one of the two founding hotels in the chain. The Mandarin is not for those on a restricted budget or those that find great and attentive service un comfortable.
"First class in every sense"
I'm a frequent visitor to Hong Kong but this was my first stay at the Mandarin Oriental and I wasn't disappointed. From start to finish the experience was first class in every way. The initial welcome and service at check in was friendly, quick and efficient, and I was soon shown to my room. The room itself was spacious, furnished to high standard and had all the amenities you'd expect. The bed was comfortable, and the linen spotless. Bathroom was good with an excellent shower. Wifi was free and quick in the room and throughout the hotel. Breakfast was a buffet with an extensive choice. Quality was good and service once again excellent. I visited the Captain's Bar on the ground floor which had a good choice of drinks, although not much in the way of snacks and nibbles. The Cafe Causette was a good choice for dinner. Plenty of variety and the same quick and efficient service. Overall, a great experience. By no means cheap, everything seemd to be a little more expensive than in other 5 star Hong Kong hotels I've used recently, however they say you get what you pay for, and in this case it's very true. The quality of the overall experience from start to finish was well worth the price.
"Justified Reputation for excellence"
We have just returned from 10 days in the hotel .We stayed in a city view suite which was comfortable, roomy and had a great view of the harbour from the bath! What makes this hotel stand out are the staff (OK and the breakfast buffet) they added immeasurably to the pleasure in our visit to this fascinating city The level of service in all areas of the hotel was outstanding - the guest services , the concierge , the breakfast staff , Man Wah staff, and particularly the maid service. Not only was everyone unfailingly polite and efficient it was done unobtrusively and with an obvious desire to make our visit a pleasure. There were small touches in the room - the New Year cakes and nightly gifts.
