"Wonderful in All Ways"
Spent two nights here as part of an anniversary excursion and could not have been happier. The hotel is in a good location close to the Mall but far enough away to be quiet and uncluttered. Arrival was spot on. Our luggage was taken immediately and the valet whisked the car away. No wait at check in and the young man who did the honors was very nice and professional. Room was large, exceptionally appointed, and in perfect condition. After freshening up, we were going to dinner to celebrate the occasion. On our way down, we asked the concierge to snap our photo and he was happy to oblige. Upon learning that it was our anniversary, he arranged for the hotel's car to take us to dinner and back despite the fact that we had not arranged for the service. Touches such as this occurred throughout our stay. Grand breakfast in the mornings, delightful nightcaps in the evenings. Two days later we were sad to leave this lovely hotel. Highly recommend.
Beautiful hotel with easy access to downtown and the Mall. Though not walkable to many options, the concierge is great at recommendations and there were always plenty of cabs available. Quick and easy check in/checkout process and wonderful personnel. Will stay again!
I don't even know what to say. The hotel is under construction and not notifying anyone prior to check in. I had the worst experience ever and would never go back. Jack hammers at 7AM WHEN I CHECKED IN AT 3AM. The manager Phillip K is non existent and his staff is utterly leaderless. Never would I stay there again. do not believe the reviews as they are old. Trust me... RUN!
"So this is how the Executives do things in DC, huh'"
I haven't been to DC in over 10 years and I must say I picked the perfect hotel to "welcome" me back. I stayed at the Mandarin from a Monday through Friday. Loved my stay the entire time. Everyone was extremely nice and accommodating. I'd left my computer charger and asked if there was one available that I could borrow or if there was somewhere near I could go to purchase one. The young lady who greeted me and accompanied me to my room immediately inquired and was able to retrieve one for me to use my entire stay. The room was extremely comfortable. It wasn't ritzy, glitzy and shiny, but it was the little nuances that made the room exceptional. From the fleece lined slippers and robe, to the live bamboo or banzai tree (not sure which it's called) in the bathroom to the upgraded leather headboard/foot board on the two queen beds. The "mini office" area was perfect with USB connector and universal plugs and round table with comfortable chairs. The decore was tasteful and upgraded. The room darkening curtains allowed the room to stay dark like it really was night time. The large flat screen tv (that greeted me with my name) mounted in the middle of the wall on a leather backboard, had an extension arm which enabled me to sit on the bed or at the table and still comfortably watch television. The waitstaff was wonderful as well. I ordered room service a couple of the days and they were very friendly each time. The Lounge was specific to only those on the floor I was on (the 8th floor) . It was very nice and comfortable with both table with chairs and lounging areas. There was a continental breakfast every morning and a cocktail hour every evening. the cocktail hour was open bar with hors d'oeuvres and treats for the sweet tooth; the s'mores and red velvet cookies were a favorite for me. The location of the hotel is kind of off the beaten path so you will be taxiing or walking to your destinations. However, if you are a walker (or runner), it is w/in distance of quite a few of the magnificent DC museums and sights. I recommend Mandarin. On my next visit to DC I will definitely look into staying at the Mandarin again.
"Mandarin hotel true to style"
This is a modern hotel located in an excellent location to visit the sites of Washington DC. We were there over Thanksgiving where turkey and pumpkin pie were the order of the day. Overall we were pleased with our stay and would recommend the hotel for courteous and attentive service.
