"Too too trendy - a bit desperate"
I used to stay here several times a year when it was called the Epsom. Now it has become desperately trendy and 'cutting edge' - starting with the ridiculous name. I prefer the smaller, cheaper Hotel Jade, which is nearby and in the same ownership. I dined here in a group of 10. The food is still good. But the noise level from the canned music at the adjacent bar was high and intrusive, making conversation difficult. There were only a couple of customers there, yet the barman was reluctant to tune it down. I would give it a miss. But it might be my age!
"Unwilling to walk the extra mile/Poor breakfast"
Stayed for four nights during Easter period. A hotel that obviously pays attention to design and art, something that gives a very good impression (although the variety of colors, materials and styles could become a little overwhelming). The location was very good, steps away from the lakefront. We got a standard room, which was adequately spacious with a nice bathroom but unfortunately as it was facing the inner side it just provided view to the rooms in the opposite wing of the hotel. We got very impressed with the cleaning. They even changed our sheets every day! The breakfast room, was very pleasant with plenty of light. The chairs could have been more comfortable. The food selection very poor for such a hotel. Good cheese, bad turkey cold cuts, croissants (that weren’t adequately renewed), cereals, boiled eggs fruits and jam. Some additional choices upon order (omelets and bacon, sausages) on the same price. The attached pics sum up my descriptions. Definitely something not worth the 30 CHF as per their nominal breakfast rates. But the thing that I appreciated the least was their inability to exceed their guests expectations. 1st incident: Prior to arrival I have contacted them to ask if they could grant us a room with nice, unobstructed views. As per their response they could only do that if we changed room category by paying an additional amount of 130 per night (when the rate that we paid just for the room was 147!). That being completely out of proportion, we didn’t accept their proposal. At check in I repeated my request and I received a different, more reasonable proposal at 30 CHF per night. As this still was a bit further to our budget, we didn’t take the offer. During our stay we realized that the hotel had an extremely low occupancy, making us wonder about the hotel’s policy not to offer its guests some additional comfort and hospitality when it costs nothing to them while it increases guests satisfaction. Not only this is common practice to hotel business worldwide, but this something that I would have done if I had guests at my home: I would have given them the best room instead of having this locked up. 2nd incident Consistent to their previous policy, when we asked a late check out, they were happy to provide us a check out up to 14:00. But when I asked if we could extend this by 16:00 they said that they would have to charge us 180 CHF, which was higher even than our nightly rate. Out of curiosity, I checked their availability on a booking site and, as expected, their response was not based on low availability. Of course I acknowledge that at the end, nobody is obliged to provide you something more than you have paid, but again the hotel’s management should also acknowledge that such practices could affect their clientele satisfaction and their good reputation as they contradict the value of hospitality which is their business.
"Stayed twice here"
Both stays lovely. Hotel is really funky and cool, but still great for families. Lots of art around the reception and the restaurant and bar lovely. Breakfast good, and staff friendly. Great location for tourist attractions. A definite must stay. I didn't have a car with me so I cannot comment on car parking. There are lifts and chair accessible.
"Another inspiring week at Hotel N'Vy"
I have the privilege to spend 5 nights twice a year in Geneva on business, and when I go, I always stay at Hotel N'vY. I run a training course there, so I actually am in the hotel both day and night for that time, except some excursions to the lake and nights out with the group I work with. I have to particulary commend Jean-Philipp Gobinot for his always excellent service in the Banquet department. Everything is ready in time, and if there is any issue, he and his team respond immediately and I know there is always a good or even excellent solution. I like our seminar room - it has a good size and all technical equipment we need. Perhaps one or two of the flipchartholders could be exchanged for newer model, but those are negligible details. The rooms are very nice, I love the bathroom rainshowers and the colour lights. This time I had a slightly smaller room, with a smaller shower, but it was comfortable and quiet as always. Food is very good, be it for breakfast, for the great lunch buffet (I love the little deserts!) and also in the evening. Excellent quality and good service. The bar is great too, I tried a Gin from Geneva - and it was excellent. I shouldn´t forget the location - it is close to the lake and I went running along the lake twice. Magic, even if it is early and still dark. Already looking forward to being back in November! Keep up the good work!
Good place to stay, have a great location with easy access to public transportation and for those who like walk it is just a few minutes from the lake and the famous brands store. The hotel style is very nice, the staff are friendly, recommend.
