This was a great location for our short stay. There is the subway station right across the street which made it convenient to go into downtown Boston. It was too cold to really venture out, but the restaurant attached to the hotel had delicious food. There are several other decent restaurants within a short walking distance. The staff was very nice and helpful with our questions since it was our first to Boston. Will definitely return to this location when we come back.
"Nice Hotel near the T"
Boston Marriott Cambridge Hotel is great. Lobby personnel is amazing and helpful. This is a place for business and it counts with pretty much anything you need for a business trip. It could be a bit expensive for pleasure but it located right outside the "T" terminal in Kendall so you get access to the subway really quick. If you are par of any Marriott loyalty program try to get access to the Lounge, the breakfast and desserts are awesome. The hotel is located over Broadway in Cambridge so is easy to get there by car! MIT campus and Museum is really close to the hotel and a lot of great technology companies!
"Excellent Stay, Near MIT and Red Line on the T Subway"
We stayed at the Boston Marriott Cambridge for two nights, as my son was visiting MIT. It's currently undergoing renovations, and we were lucky enough to be given an updated room with a beautiful view of the Charles River. I happened to meet some Marriott execs in the elevator who said this property is one of the first to get this new updated design (although it reminds me of the the newly renovated Atlanta Marriott Marquis, to a large degeee) and they asked for my feedback on it. I really like the updated colors and finishes. My only complaint is the clear glass sliding door to the bathroom. If you are alone in the room, it is fine. But if you have a second guest, you wake the other if you go to the bathroom at night as the light floods through the door. It is frosted and reflective, so it wasn't as big of a privacy issue as I might have thought. But the disturbance to sleep did indeed occur on the second night, when my son slept at the hotel instead of the dorm. The mattress is very good. 9/10 Pillows were a little less full than normal for Marriott, but still good. 8/10 Sleep quality was good, other than the light issue. Did hear other guests talking in the hall at 1:30 am, but it was brief. We were told our room was a very quiet location, but we did hear a good bit of construction noises throughout the day (both inside and outside the hotel), even on Sunday. Cambridge has many construction sites in the area. Recycling available in the room. We are Gold Members, so had free access to the concierge lounge, which is open 24/7. This should be the rule in ALL Marriotts. A nice warm breakfast with fresh fruit, cereals, pastries, scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, fresh juices, milk, coffee, etc. is available. Hors d'oerves and desserts at night. Snacks (like M& Ms), fruits, sodas, coffees are available all day. The lounge has been updated and has a nice mix of tables, chairs, couch and bar seating. You can order more substantial meals off a menu for a fee at dinner, which is a great addition. The attendants are helpful and polite. New reusable glass bottles can be fill with filtered still or sparkling water. This is a first for me and very nice. Coffee/espresso/hot cocoa machine. Room service is prompt and delicious. You can skip the $5 delivery fee and pick it up at the front desk, if you like. Starbucks in the lobby. Chipotle, Au Bon Pain, Legal Sea Food, and other restaurants in 1 minute walking distance, as is the Red Line for the T (subway). It is a 40 minute subway ride to Boston Logan Airport by T ($2.75) or taxis are out front. Short ride to Fine Arts and Science Museums. Hotel staff was eager to please and prompt with service. This is definitely a nicer 4 star Marriott and one I'd enjoy visiting again...especially if my son is lucky enough to end up at MIT. Love the updates and the lounge!
"Excellent hotel for frequent business travelers"
This is a really good hotel for business travelers. The rooms are clean and well equipped and the location is just perfect in the center of Cambridge, close to academia, tech and life science industries as well as to beautiful parts of Boston. The hotel offers great meeting facilities, dining and café. Subway station next door. Great shopping and sightseeing across the river. This is a hotel for those requesting effortless travel.
"One of Marriott's best lounges..."
Over the past year, I have stayed at a number of Marriott properties and various lounges. The Cambridge Marriott by far had one of the best, quiet, roomy lounges of all properties that I have visited. The food and beverage services was also excellent... if you didn't see it available, the support staff made every effort to accommodate. The breakfast here is well above average. My room was on the club floor... what a view of the city. Iconic Fenway and the the Citco sign were clearly visible off in the distance. Nice setup with a comfortable desk/chair... bed, very comfortable with reading lights, extremely large flat screen wit a perfect viewing angle from al parts of the room. The bath area was very roomy with a large vanity and glass enclosed shower. Watch out, the water can be VERY hot in the shower. This Marriott is in the heart of MIT, some shopping areas and numerous restaurants. This will be my go to Marriott on my future stays int the MIT area.
