We come to this hotel often, it's a great place for rest and relaxation. The location is great and in beautiful surroundings, the staff are very efficient and we love it.Comment of A. Jacqueline , United Kingdom the 2015-03-22
"Nice stay - but in need of some improvement!"
This hotel looks impressive as you enter. The condition of the lobby, bar and reception, and outlook to the pool is lovely as you enter. We were greeted with an offer of Prosecco on arrival, which was a nice touch, but some iced water in reception at all times would be a nice touch, as there is in many Marriott hotels. The pool is in a bit of a state. There is black mould between the tiles and many of the tiles are falling off. There was also mouldy cups and ice cream containers in the island at the centre of the pool, which I removed and threw away. The rooms are tired and the bed was really, really uncomfortable - which was a shock for a Marriott. I don't mean to sound too critical. The food, the choices and the availability was fantastic, especially as we did not travel too far afield. The staff were really helpful and the rest of the hotel was really clean overall. I would go back - but it could really do with an update and new beds!!
"Very Busy Hotel & Golf Course"
The room we had was nice and large if a little out of date. The pool area was nice and it was good that the pool bar was still open. Unusually the rooms were carpeted, but they seemed clean. This hotel had UK channels so we were not just stuck with BBC World. We stayed for 3 nights and ate 2 nights in the Thai restaurant which is open at the weekend, the food was excellent. We were not keen on the other restaurant and so only ate breakfast there. The restaurant was swamped with golfers with early tee times. Many golfers seemed to use breakfast as an opportunity to make up sandwiches and take food to eat on the course. Also there only seemed side plates out, which even for people with small appetites was impossible to get your breakfast on without using two plates. This was off putting as you felt you were being greedy when you weren't. Breakfast felt more like being in a canteen than in a 5 star hotel. The golf course (27 holes) the original 9 holes were interesting, but the other 18 holes were not anything special and the newest 9 you had to walk nearly the length of one of the holes to get to the tee. Some of the other holes also seemed badly laid out. We enjoyed playing with the people we were paired up with if we had been a 2 ball we would have lost the will to live as play was rather slow as the courses were extremely busy. The starter worked very hard at getting everyone off the right course at the right time. Food in the 19th hole was excellent quality and reasonably priced.
We expected a 5* meal in a 5* hotel, this was not the case. From the 'a la Carte' menu we chose starters and main course food appeared old and not fresh and it was virtually cold and very very salty. After being in Javea for three weeks this is the worst meal we had the misfortune to eat and we unfortunately did eat it as we were hungry. None of the restaurant staff would make eye contact with us after we complained, eventually spoke to the manager who knocked 20 euro off the meal, what he couldn't seem to grasp was is that knocking money off the meal didn't make it ok or excuse that diabolical standard of food. Hotel might be five star as for the chef wouldn't give him one star. Spoke to other guests who were equally unimpressed by the very sad looking Italien buffet.
"Home from home for us :-)"
This for us is the best 5 Star hotel in the area without a doubt!! We have visited nearly all of the others and each hotel has its good and bad points. The La Sella Marriot has the best overall package. The lobby bar is fantastic with a great ambiance, the Montgo restuarant offers great food, but the best of all is the Thai experience in the Segaria Restaurant..... Unbeatable value for money. My partner and i are frequent visitors to this hotel for a reason. The staff are very proffesional and attentive and even remember our names when we walk in and they greet us with a beaming smile. There are things that need attention, but like i said.... It has the best overall package. Service and excellence are second to none!!! Mark :-)
"Nice hotel "
Stayed 2 nights at the here , room size was good , The Thai restaurant is excellent. Carpit s are worn slightly . Staff are friendly especially in the bellboy/ man . Got s upgrade due to an all night a wedding with a free bar . Surprised at the Marriott hotel would allow this that inconvenience the guests.
