"Great location, nice room, awful service"
I was here for a business trip and this was the preferred hotel. So I can't really comment on the price/value. The location is great - right next to St. John's Gardens and the rail station and an easy walk to many of the major attractions. My room was very nice - comfortable, generally clean and well-appointed. It offered a nice view over the city. Wi-fi is not free. It is if you are a Marriott Rewards member, but only if you book through the Marriott site (which means when you use the required corporate travel system like I do, it isn't free even if you are a Rewards member). All that said, their service left so much to be desired. I was arriving from the US and was going to arrive early in the morning after an overnight flight. I wanted to check-in, shower and then go into the office for the afternoon. I called while booking and was told they couldn't guarantee early check-in, so I would have to book the room for the night before. I asked if it would be a problem doing that and then showing up the next morning, and was told it wouldn't be as long as I had reserved the room on a credit card (which I did). So I reserved for Sunday evening, knowing I would show up Monday morning. I show up on Monday morning and after searching for my reservation, I was told it was cancelled! They were able to book me for the rest of my stay, but there was no room ready. So I was delayed probably 45 minutes between the check-in issue and waiting for a room to be available. My room has a clogged sink - how does the housekeeper not notice that' It was pretty obvious. Thankfully they fixed that promptly. The room cleaning was questionable- I'm pretty sure that obvious hair in the tub when I checked in couldn't have been mine (It has to be obvious for me to notice and make note. I don't nitpick little things). Fast-forward to check-out. I'm leaving really early (around 2:30 AM), as I have to get a train to Manchester Airport for my flight. I'm told they are printing the bills and can't get me my bill. Really' You can't generate a bill on demand' So they tell me they will email me the bill. Nope. Never got it. Fast-forward a few days later and I have to call to get them to send me the bill. No problem there - they quickly emailed it to me. Fast-forward to me filling out my expense report and I see they billed me for the evening I said I was a no-show. I know I was expecting to pay for that night, but I was bothered that 1) When I did check in, they never said I was still going to be billed for the prior night; 2) They didn't even think about giving me that night for free or for a discount for my hassle; and 3) No receipt for it, so I couldn't expense it. I call them and while they understood my concern, had no interest in doing anything about it other than sending me the copy of the receipt. I will be back in this area for business, and I will not be staying here. I will not be recommending it to any of my colleagues.
"Hen party "
Visited here 20th-22nd April as part of a hen party with 9 other ladies. Great that they accommodate parties esp as our group was very tame. There were others who weren't as such. Hotel is centrally located between Kopacabana (all you can eat buffet restaurant) a Spanish tapas restaurant, Burger King/Nandos and St John's Shopping Mall. Only taxi we ordered was to and from JL airport which was great. The hotel interior is clean & modern with a Starbucks restaurant. I relished the water cooler by the front entrance. Our rooms were 441, 444 and 447. We had 2 rooms with 4 (2 double beds) and 1 room of 2. The rooms were spacious, modern and clean. Bathroom was the same. We enjoyed our breakfasts the 2 mornings as well. Lovely range of food as well as gluten free for my coeliac friend. Thanks Marriott for making our stay a special one. Will most definitely be back!
"Good Choice at the Right Price"
This hotel is centrally located in Liverpool close to the art galleries, museums, shops and night life. There is a multistorey public carpark immediately adjacent to the hotel. Some negative issues with the hotel: . The security was quite poor, it was possible to walk in after midnight and use the lifts without challenge. . The bar was not very appealing. . The rooms were in need of some investment. For example the bathroom although well cleaned had enamel missing from areas of the bath. Some positive items: . Breakfast was very good with eggs cooked to order. . All of the staff are very good in particular the cleaning staff. Overall not a bad choice in Liverpool at the right price.
"3 nights in Liverpool "
My wife and I have stayed here on numerous occasions since the hotel first opened in 1998 (I think) It still has the same charm. We had a Superior King room for 3 nights the room was spotlessly clean and very well maintained. The staff were brilliant as they usually are and breakfast each day was superb
Visited Liverpool with a couple of friends for a girl's night and we were all extremely happy with the hotel. Excellent, central location which is really close to Lime Street Station and has a lovely courtyard style area at the back of the hotel with lots of different restaurants. The room was huge and the beds were comfy (exactly what was needed after a night out!). We really couldn't fault it. Thank you for a lovely stay!
