"Big Impersonal rabbit warren"
This is a typical chain hotel, the rooms are what you would expect, comfortable, clean and functional, the lounge bar area is featureless and again functional. For what is an expensive hotel it does not have much going for it other than location. Close to the motorway, airport and Manchester this is its function but otherwise I would not choose to stay there. Trying to even find my room was a challenge, it is like a rabbit warren and the room numbers and signage are not great. Even more annoying when I finally found my room to find that the key did not work so I had a long trudge back to reception to start all over again. The staff are great, friendly and helpful which is a saving grace. If you have to be close to the airport or motorway into Manchester and don't mind spending a lot on a functional stay rather than an enjoyable experience then fine, I would rather try and find somewhere with more to offer and I know it can be done at a cheaper price.
"Don't stay here"
I don't know why this hotel is set up this way, but the design resulted in my room requiring more than 300 steps trying to pull a suitcase across old carpets which was nearly impossible. 10 turns to find my hotel room with 2 flights of stairs and 2 sets of doors to go through, all while carrying your own luggage. If there had been a fire, I would have NEVER gotten out due to the maze of the hotel. I ran into more "lost guests" searching for their rooms than is imaginable. The mattress was also very uncomfortable. The first morning wake up call was 20 minutes late and the second call never came! Finally, when we asked for them to set up a cab for the airport in the morning, they used a cab company that doesn't except credit cards..... I realize they have no control over that, but either use another company OR forward the guests. I had no foreign currency with me as this was a one day stop on my trip! Just poor design, poor execution and poor planning.
"Spa day with parents "
I visited the hotel for a spa day with parents. Really modern and nice hotel, staff really friendly and helpful on the main reception and spa reception. Spa services and swimming pool clean. The only recommendation is jacuzzi is really small, people fighting over a place and mould on roof above jacuzzi. Overall really good experience and really good value for money.
"One night stay in Manchester "
We checked in on the 17th Feb quite late - the receptionist was very pleasant and helpful - we did ask for two double beds but on arrival found it was only one double bed and a sofa bed. However the receptionist did try and at the end just refunded me £15. Hotel is quite outdated big rooms but please do not expect the Marriott standards you are used to - hotel is more like a country club with out dated decor. Staff very friendly - especially the chap on the Starbucks stand he was extremely friendly and of course staff make your stay pleasant and you tend to forget about the unpleasantries. Car park was extortionate -why charge residents' And also wifi again such items you expect to be free somewhere like Manchester!!!
"House keeping issues"
After checking in an empty used water bottle was waiting for me on the table in my room... Similar thing happened on my previous visit: a used towel from a previous guest hanging on the door from inside in the bathroom....
