"Well trained staff - Excellent Managment"
We stayed for New Years Eve. The Hotel is located fantastically for getting to Red Square although I would not recommend anyone bother with Red Square for NYE as it is terribly disappointing (see my other review). The Marriott however was EXCELLENT! On check-in the reception staff (Anna) was so incredibly helpful with my requests. It felt like as a platinum member that she would do everything she could to make my stay the best. I made a mistake when booking 2 rooms by adding the breakfast on to my room (I already have breakfast included as Platinum) rather than my families room, but she helped us with that after checking with her manager. These are the small mistakes that can really ruin a stay but with her managers assistance it meant that check-in and our stay was stress free. The gym is great - if you like to work out its a real gym rather than the usual small room with nothing in it. My massage was average. My wife and mum enjoyed theirs but mine was just okay. The Executive Lounge was brilliant. The staff (one lady comes across serious but its just her professional demeanor, chat to her and you will see her smile) were great. very helpful in accommodating our family and the food was great. I highly recommend this hotel as someone who travels to a lot of Marriotts. Even though there is another Marriott closer to Red Square we will return again to this one in August because of the way the staff treated us, the lounge, and the gym!
"Good value, good location, good service - but beware concierge's taxi prices"
I booked 2 nights in a twin room here over New Year’s for approximately €100 a night. Although the celebrations in the city were somewhat disappointing (mainly due to lack of planning on my part), the hotel certainly was not. I arrived very early on Saturday morning and was fully expecting to leave my luggage, head out into the city and return later in the afternoon to check into my room. However, the reception staff was able to check me in by 10 a.m. without additional cost. The ability to have a shower and a change of clothes before heading out definitely made for a good start of the day. The room itself was clean; the bathroom was well-equipped with a tub and comfortable shower, and the beds were very soft and comfortable. I can imagine the mattresses being too soft for some, but for me it was just the thing after a long day of walking outside in the cold Moscow weather. Free wifi is available both in the lobby and in the rooms; it was more than adequate for checking e-mails and streaming video; however I'm be able to comment on speeds for heavier use. While I was away during the day, housekeeping came into my room and left me a little cake and a tangerine – not sure if this was related to it being New Year’s Eve but it was a very nice touch. Location is very good; Red Square is about a 20 minute walk (although coming back will take a bit longer going uphill) and a metro stop is around the corner. Sure, you can get closer to the Red Square but you’ll pay for the privilege. At €100 a night, I was very happy with the value for money. However, I would definitely recommend getting a metro card as Moscow is a big city and walking around all day can get exhausting. The metro card is cheap – around 200 Roubles for an all-day ticket, if I remember correctly. My only negative experience – and the only reason I'm docking one star – was with the concierge. I asked her to arrange a taxi for me to go downtown – a drive that should take about 5 minutes, maybe a bit more due to traffic (it's literally just down the street - the only reason I wanted a taxi was because I was exhausted from walking all day). She quoted me a price of 1800 Roubles, which I thought excessive; after commenting on the price she offered me a discount and I ended up paying 1000 Roubles. However, this is still massively overpriced as I got an Uber all the way to the airport the next day for 850 Roubles. So in terms of transport, opt for metro and Uber, but definitely not the in-house taxi service.
"Nice Marriott property in the center of Moscow "
Nice Marriott property in the center of Moscow. Great location to explore the city. This hotel is located about 20 minutes walk from Red Square on the central Tverskaya Street. Metro station is 5 min walk. Rooms are little outdated but comfortable and still up to standard. Staff was friendly and helpful. I will stay there again if the price is right.
"Really good property, location and value"
Our family of two adults and one teenager stayed for three nights. Got room with two double beds. Mostly standard Marriott type of room but seemed larger after other European countries. Booked in advance thru Marriott and got good deal including using status for club. Location is great on Tverskaya - one of the main higher end avenues running down to Red Square. Pushkin Square is nearby with several good places to eat. Room was clean and comfortable. Despite winter, we cracked the window open for fresh air. They cleaned out the mini bar at our request so we could keep cold things. Club was well stocked and they were always friendly and helpful. Ended up eating evening snack there instead of dinner as we were too tired to go anywhere. Breakfast there was fine. Hotel concierge was helpful in arranging cars to the Bolshoi and then to the airport. OK rates and nicer cars. Would come back. While the room is not spectacular, the hotel is well kept, has a good location and you can get a good value
"Great hotel, good service!"
We loved the location of this hotel. A walk along the river and some small shops made our evenings happy! It's a busy hotel and they're were many tourists staying there too, but we did get good service!
