"Nice Location. Sterile Environment."
It is a Marriott, with Marriott's high-quality service and cleanliness, so that means it is going to earn at least a rating of 4. However, I am a Hilton Honors member who was traveling with others, and I have trouble justifying the marginally higher prices for Marriott properties. A healthy subway ride is required to reach midtown from this property, but what I liked best about was its location just a block from the pedestrian ramp onto the Brooklyn Bridge, which is quite possibly my favorite walk in the entire world. Secondly, I liked the spaciousness of the room. The room itself offered a lot of floor space so we weren't tripping over luggage; however, the bathroom was quite cramped. The hotel has two sections. The 7-story section at the main entrance and the 27-story "annex" connected across the street via a skywalk. Our room on the 5th floor of the main entrance section faced an interior quad that was nothing more than roof. No view. My experience at Hilton properties is that they almost always have a restaurant on site, and my experience with Marriott, including this one, is that they often do not. This site has a main floor "pantry" with $4.50 muffins, etc; but, if you want a real meal, you have to go elsewhere. There is a very nice Mexican restaurant immediately adjacent to the Marriott. Otherwise, we only found a Subway, Dunkin Doughnuts and a Shake Shack within reasonable walking distance. Overall, not my favorite place, but not a bad experience.
"Chic room decor, excellent service"
I attended a done-day conference at this Marriott and stayed overnight after the conference. My experience was very positive on multiple levels. I arrived at 8am and went to the front desk to store my suitcase for later check in. Much to my surprise, I was able to check in right then, which was highly convenient. I can't ever remember being able to check in that early. When I arrived at my room, the decor was very modern and attractive, and the room was extremely quiet. Later in the evening, there was a guard at the elevators to make sure that only registered guests went upstairs, which was reassuring. Overall, it was a very positive experience and I recommend it highly.
"Want a view request the South Tower"
Marriott did a great job on the renovation of the hotel. If a view is important to you request a room in the South Tower. Better yet, book either the Skyline or Waterview room. I had booked a 2 room king suite. The room was nice but the view was terrible. The North Tower is only 7 stories, and the view from the suite I was given was of an office building. It made the room dreary and dark. Since there weren't any king suites available with a view, I downgraded to a Skyline view king room, and had an awesome view thanks to the expert help of Yahira who showed my husband and I two rooms to choose from. The first room she showed us was on a high floor with a full water view. The room was small but the view was amazing. This room didn't have the "L" shaped sofa that appears on the hotel's website as standard. The next room she showed us had the sofa, and a view of the Statue of Liberty on the left side of the bed, and an extra window next to the TV that had a view of the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges. We chose that room. Although I didn't get a credit for the downgrade, the view was worth the swap, and having the sofa and small table in the room made it feel like a suite. The best part of the experience was the customer service of Yahira who was willing to listen to my concerns, and take the time to make sure I was a happy customer. Unless you receive the club lounge as part of your Marriott Awards benefit, I do not recommend you pay the additional money. We are Gold Elite, and we didn't pay extra. The breakfast is good. During our 3 night stay, everything else about the lounge experience was underwhelming. Before I booked, I noticed there were a number of complaints regarding housekeeping. Housekeeping services were great. What I appreciated about housekeeping service, on the days we left the room late in the afternoon, we called and requested service, and didn't have an issue. We also had the option of filling out a request for service the night before specifying a block of time to have the room cleaned. The location of this hotel is great for shopping, dining, with easy access to Manhattan.

"Great location and service"
A large and practical hotel, not so much unique and charming but delivers where it matters. Well located near where I wanted to focus and enjoy for a couple of days, i.e easy to walk to the river, good for walking around Brooklyn Heights, close to Brooklyn Historical Society. Spacious and comfortable rooms and excellent service - large Executive lounge was wonderful for evening canapes and breakfast
