"Should be a three star hotel"
The room was stark and bare. Not even a floor-length mirror, iron, or room service menu was in the room. Nothing on the walls, not even art. The entire room felt really sterile. For 275 Euros per night! It's surprising that things like an iron and floor length mirror aren't in the room, as the hotel is so close to the EU commission (probably the main thing going for it) and since it's supposed to be four stars. Iron was available on request only. Overall very disappointed with the room. Both check in and check out processes were disorderly. Staff seemed to be in a bad mood from the start and couldn't find my Expedia reservation at first. On checkout, they overcharged me for the room even though I showed them my Expedia reservation with the prices, they kept the higher price and said someone from customer relations would contact me. Really!'!' Restaurant attendant was very unpleasant and seemed in a bad mood too; it seemed that she was upset to be asked questions or that someone would want to get breakfast before 7am. Breakfast only starts at 7am although hotel is located in a business area. Hotel should consider starting breakfast earlier or have takeaway bags readily available for guests who leave earlier. This is supposed to be a four star hotel so that wouldn't be unreasonable. Also four star hotels usually try to please their guests but the hotel staff that I ran into just seemed generally annoyed at guests, except for one woman at the check in who was pleasant.
"A beautiful hotel at walking distance of the EU."
If you're looking for a great modern styled hotel in a great ambiance with good beds in a great room with a restaurant where you can have a great meal, than Martins EU is the place for you. The location is at walking distance from the EU community offices (about 200 meters) and this hotel got its own parking garage. When you enter the hotel you'll notice the modern interior and the good smell what you find in every Martin Hotel (I spend many times in Martins Patershof, Mechelen, also beautiful hotel build in a church). The staff is very friendly and checkin process is fast. The room is very clean, nice bathroom and cosy. You will sleep very well on the big beds. (I did. :-) ) If you decide for a dinner at the hotel, reserve a table at Icones, the restaurant. A simple menu where you can choose from but excellent dishes. You have the choice of a 3 or 4 service dinner for 39 or 49 euro, or a la carte (excl drinks of course) so well priced. The breakfast was a buffet with plenty things to choose from, inclusive cava. My conclusion was a great stay at the hotel and I think you will have so as well.
"Perfect 3 night break."
The first thing you notice before you even get through the glass doors is the gorgeous fragrance that envelops you as you proceed to check in, haunts you until you are leaving and then forces you to buy some before you leave because you now can't live without it. The rest of the stay was of the same high quality throughout, with the 'charming' room, whilst not overly large, was adequate for myself and my daughter with twin beds. It was well designed with 2 chairs, coffee table and desk, well lit, nicely decorated, clean and above all so quiet. Air con was great especially as you could turn off the gentle hum if required and the massive windows opened well also. Free unlimited fast wifi was a bonus. Our room 315 had a view of the quiet street below. The large jacuzzi bath was a highlight, bliss after a hard day sightseeing. The food deserves a special mention as the breakfast was superb, one of the best help yourself style I have found. The choice was endless, from the four flavours of fresh juice, a changing variety of sliced breads, rolls and pastries, lovely soft scrambled eggs, many varieties of yogurt and fruits, cheeses and hams, hot sausages and bacon. Allergies very well catered for too. The highlight of breakfast being the waffle machine to self serve the lightest most delicious waffles I have ever tasted, not the stodgy American style and even better than the ones you can buy in Brussels city. The staff on reception were very friendly and helpful too. We liked where the hotel was situated, minutes from the Eurpean Commision and close to Schuman metro and the hop on hop off bus stop which starts at 10.30 am from that stop, last drop off around 6.30 pm. The local bus 63 to and from Central station stopped nearby also, in the opposite direction. We enjoyed our stay so much we will be staying again in the future and trying the other Belgian locations of their hotels too, if only to buy more room fragrance as unfortunately you cannot purchase it online.
"Good hotel, less pleasant breakfast"
Stayed at Martin's Hotel for the first time this year in June. I have been on a business trip and my company also booked my room with breakfast. The breakfast is until 10:00 but when i went there at 9:30 there was no food left. Another man was there and asked the waiter for a yogurt and the waiter respons was: There is no yogurt left :) To conclude, the rooms are great, the staff from reception is great but the breakfast is not that good
Very nice hotel. Close to amenities. Very friendly and helpful staff, went above and beyond to help us, even when we slept in and missed breakfast, they got us a table and fetched us some breakfast with an assortment of choice! We stayed here for 4 nights and really enjoyed the stay. The hotel and our room was very clean and had everything we needed. The staff are very good at understanding English and were able to help us with any queries we had and getting us taxis to places we were going. The room was well kept, clean, tidy and quiet The food was lovely, cannot fault it! Would definitely stay here again! Thank you for making our stay an enjoyable and pleasant experience :-)
