If you want clinical modern type of hotel then don't come here. This is a quaint quirky old world hotel that is made up of 5 different buildings of different sizes. The hotel is located 5 minutes from the main square, by foot. It is very clean and comfortable and the staff, in particular, Delphine, Dieter and Charlotte very helpful and friendly. If you have a canal view room, you will notice the sound of cars on the cobbled streets, but this is not intrusive. This is great hotel.
"Pretty hotel "
Very pretty hotel and decorated with love colours and furniture. Friendly and good service and staff was very helpful. Aircon was not great though. Hotel is in a good location and a 5 min walk from the city square. Lots of Restaurants in area. Good value for money.
"Recommended it to friends"
Would highly recommend this hotel. Great location, clean and modern rooms and perfect for a break in Bruges. The bar was nice to go to after a meal. Really enjoyed this break and would stay in this hotel again
"Excellent Stay in Bruges"
We booked a 3-night stay in Bruges at Martin's Relais, and were extremely happy with our choice! The hotel was very well-located - we really enjoyed being a few blocks off the main square (maybe 5 minutes' walk). We were close enough to walk to the main square (via many different streets - depending on your route, you got to explore different shops and sites on the way into the square), but far enough so we weren't bombarded with tourist traffic. To give other travelers an idea of distance, it was no problem to walk down to the main area, shop and explore for awhile, head back to the hotel to drop off packages and have a rest, go back to town for more exploring, then go back to get ready for dinner, and head out once more for dinner. We booked a Comfort Double Room with Canal View - our room was very spacious, with large windows overlooking one of the canals. The bathroom was large as well, which was great, but we did have some issues with flooding after showering. We spoke with the hotel staff, and found out it has something to do with the glass door being flexible rather than fixed. I think I would have preferred a fixed door, because we had to use all of our towels to soak up the water on the floor after every shower. We did not purchase breakfast at the hotel, so we can't comment on the breakfast, although the dining room looked nice. We preferred to have breakfast around town, which was very easy to do, as there were many convenient places to eat nearby. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, and was able to accommodate our request for a second luggage rack, and helped us with a taxi when we checked out. Luckily, the hotel had air conditioning, as the weather was unseasonably hot. WiFi was free for 2 devices and connection appeared to be strong. Perfect stay for us while in Bruges!
"Not four stars"
Our experience of this hotel was a bit mixed. I use Martin's hotels a lot - in Leuven and Brussels. This one wasn't nearly as good. The decor is a bit tatty, there are no normal amenities such as a bedside alarm clock, the TV is very old school. OK, I accept it's an old building in a beautiful old city so expectations are...a bit different. But evens so, in our experience it is not worthy of four stars. 3 euros for a small bottle of water is a bit cheeky. We went to the bar at 7pm on a Saturday. Not a sign of any staff there or at reception. We eventually found someone taking a break so came up to serve us. There wasn't any cold white wine so we left. Actually, we're glad because the place had zero atmosphere. Breakfast was OK. The scrambled eggs had been scrambled long before we got there and the selection otherwise was limited (especially for the price). Again no atmosphere and no staff asking after us. Overall, a bit disappointed.
