"Really really nice"
A great alternative to a hotel, right downtown and really nice. They gave us a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom corner unit apartment. Beautiful view, balcony, full kitchen, parking, dining room, living room, dishwasher, washer and dryer, flat screen, DVD. Everything you need
"Well priced stay in the heart of Melbourne"
We recently stayed here during a long weekend and it was great. Close to Crown in Southbank, which is filled with ample things to do and places to eat. Upon checking in however, we had to wait 10 minutes while the receptionist was having a casual chat with a friend on the phone, however it was a painless and quick check in once we eventually got served. We booked a one bedroom apartment and I was thrilled to be placed on level 24, with incredible views of the city. A cute little kitchen, dining and separate bed and bath - I really enjoyed it. We spent three days exploring the CBD without needing to get a taxi at all. I have to say it was a little loud, but as expected considering you are in the heart of a busy city. We also didn’t get a chance to try the gym or pool but I am sure they would be equally as lovely as the building itself. Overall I really enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend it as it is a really well priced accommodation option in the heart of Melbourne.
"Very Close to crown casino"
Excellent location, close to crown casino (2 mins walk). We were given free parking and a bottle of wine because the previous guests stained the carpet. Great PR. The two toilets are really nice and clean, did not expect wifi but the place is equiped with free fast Telstra router, I give half a star just for this alone. Bed is a bit soft for me , but it was clean , my wife was not complaining (very important), and we had good nite sleeps. The door to the main bed room is a bit hard to close, other than that we had a good stay.
"Great Location..Dissapointed with Vue Grand Apartments "
Booked Short Stay Apartments online via chat directly through Short Stays website months before our family holiday for 7 nights. After discussion with operator, we were recommended Vue Grand Apartments on Whiteman St in Southbank as we wanted to be in Southbank for NYE & had asked for a luxury apartment with views facing casino. Operator highly recommended we go with Vue Grand Apartments & if locked in at the time of chat, they could offer a discounted rate plus for an extra $20 per night secure & guarantee a premium view (exactly their words on chat & by phone). We then locked in a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom with premium view with a deposit & reconfirmed everything via chat & we also reconfirmed again via phone call. Prior to arriving all had to be paid in full which was no issue for us. We had again reconfirmed our booking/view etc upon finalising payment & all was on track. Upon arrival, the reception staff member on duty was a real let down. He was not welcoming at all which made the first impression not a good one. He practically was like a sad robot! Check in was not so smooth afterall. Upon going up to our apartment on the 20th floor, we open the door & what a let down. First impression for apartment.. NO premium view as promised, but Crown Promenade right in front blocking everything! Dirty & stained carpet throughout. Dirty & stained walls & doors. Crumbs in the lounge & food under the lounge. NO aircon in bedrooms. Balcony dirty. And so we call & speak to manager on duty which was a female, complained, said she will call back however, no call back. This was NYE, so we really wanted to settle in. Rang a second time, spoke to another manager Josh, promised us he will get onto it..long story..He then promised he would move us the day after New Year as they were fully booked & busy. We were dissapointed, but happily waited. 2nd Jan arrives, NO call back as promised to move us, again another LET DOWN! By this stage, we could not be bothered chasing these managers again as we wanted to enjoy our trip, so we put up with our so called premium apartment which is meant to be 4.5 stars. After settling in the first night, we find the following.. NO block out in rooms at all, cheap blinds which let all the city lights through, so SLEEPLESS NIGHTS EVERY NIGHT! A huge let down with long long nights with bright lights in the room & sunrise, ohhh so much worse! NOISE NOISE NOISE every night as if windows were open, sirens, trams, trains, you name it, we got it! Rooms were also hot, no circulation at all, no aircon at all in rooms, only in the lounge room. NO mattress protectors, we found this very unhygienic. Just a flat sheet on top. NO quilt cover either, just a flat sheet on mattress, then a sheet & a quilt cover on top with another sheet on top. We also had a brown stain on our top sheet, wasnt impressed at all & again dissapointed. All in all, too much dissapointments with these apartments apartments. They really are NOT 4.5 stars, more like 3.5 stars or 4 the most. They really need to clean the carpets & walls, vaccum the lounges as well properly, better blinds or curtains, improve bedding & aircon for the hot summer nights in the rooms. Apart from all the above, the location is fantastic, the apartment is set out lovely, kitchen was great with all that you need. Supermarket also downstairs & tram stop st your doorstep. We chose this apartment for these reasons however, we had a huge let down, therefore we would not stay here again. We have stayed close by before & were so happy with the other properties in same location.
"Lovely stay, but with mixed Feelings"
I'm really torn about whether to give this apartment a 3 or 4* rating, so I'll err on the side of generosity and give it a 4*, but if there was a 3.5* option I would have gone with that! We stayed in a 1 Bedroom Apartment on the 24th floor for 2 nights. The location seems to be its biggest asset - I loved staying in this part of Melbourne; Casino, Southbank, South Wharf, DFO, Southern Cross Station all within a short walk away and a pleasant leisurely stroll into the CBD itself. Check-in was efficient, friendly and informative. We arrived at the apartments early as we had come to Melbourne via train. They happily stored our luggage until check in time, which meant we could stroll around the City hands free. Once in our room the 'mixed feelings' started! They had left a bottle of wine & chocolates for my Birthday - very thoughtful!!! The apartment had everything we needed for a comfortable stay; full size fridge & functional kitchen, clean bathroom, laundry facilities, separate lounge & bedroom etc. Sadly the carpet was very stained and that didn't fair well for first impressions! On closer inspection there were also crumbs under the coffee table so it hadn't been vacuumed properly in between stays. Stained & dirty - I really didn't want to walk on the carpet with bare feet. The bedroom area was compact, but with plenty of wardrobe space. The Queen size bed was surprisingly comfortable and we slept very well in it. However, the second let down was the sun streaming through the Venetian blinds at 6:30am in the morning. I do hope that they consider replacing these as mentioned in other management review responses (even if it's just in the bedroom area) as a sleep in is impossible otherwise. The air conditioning worked really well in the lounge area (it's was very warm when we were in Melbourne) but sadly the bedroom copped the daytime sun through the blinds and the bedroom area became very warm. They provided a pedestal fan so we plugged it in between the lounge and bedroom to push the cold air through. Not a huge drama, but unusual in this day and age. The free Wifi worked well and was very much appreciated. With a tram stop directly opposite, IGA a few steps away and the Tea House Spa across the road, everything seemed easy for a relaxing break for my birthday. I just wish I got to sleep in ............
