"Excellent kids club"
Our girls loved the kids club, they tortured us to go every day! Chrystal, Cynara and Shary were all wonderful with our girls. The food in the book in restaurants was excellent. We really enjoyed are stay here.
The resort was not clean. The food at the restaurants is not great. Eat at the market. My room was not clean when we arrive and they did not clean the room for 2 days... they will always come after 4 to clean it...
"Great stay if looking for quiet, calm relaxed trip"
I just returned from a 5 night, 6 day trip Nassau and, as you may have already guessed, stayed at the Melia. It was a wonderful, pleasant stay. The hotel was clean, and welcoming. There is some maintenance work going on in the area- makes sense with December not really being a peak vacation period, and Hurricane Matthew having recent visited the island- but it did not interfere with any of the activities, or overall experience. The room was spacious and clean. A few things here and there, but things that 1. did not impact our stay, or hinder our beautiful view and 2. are to be expected when living on the beach. Saltwater has no mercy on infrastructure. The pools are pristine, and they clean them every morning; the waters are also a comfortable temperature. I'm not sure if they heat the pool, or if its just the sun, but it was amazing to not have to have a heart to heart with myself, and a pep talk to get myself in the water. The beach was clean, and a pleasure to stay at. This is big plus, since they do have a wet bar AND a restaurant right on the water. They definitely do their best to take care of the place. The staff were gracious, all smiles, and just plain old nice. I felt super welcomed. I especially want to give a shout out to one of the restaurant Hostess Temika (at Au Grill and The Market) and Chef Rose (The Market). Both took the time out of their day to speak to me and my partner about the island, the culture, what to try etc. It really helped us out. The bar staff was also friendly, and attentive to our needs. They did sit and chat a bit when it was dead, but I personally didn't hold it against them- I'd want to kick it too if I worked with friends and traffic was slow. Just helped reiterate what we noticed- Bahamians are really friendly, and look out for each other. My boyfriend needed a haircut, and our bus driver (10 bus) drove us to the actual spot- dropped off the other passengars downtown, and then took us to the door of the barbershop. Truly above and beyond- saw this both within the resort and out. The only reason I deducted a point was due to the fact that evening activities are limited. While there is a DJ, it is right in the main lobby. This made it awkward to just walk to and from places in the hotel. Also, due to the location of our room, the noise from the made it a bit difficult to relax and watch a movie in the room if we didn't want to sit at the bar. Also, just from what had been posted online and what the other resorts offered, I did expect more evening activities. Maybe a movie under the stars' Or something to that nature, if a specific club area cannot be allocated. It's a pretty straight shot to downtown- literally make a left when you get out of the hotel and just follow the road there. The bus ride is about 15 minutes, unless there is traffic (which happens around 3/330pm) and it can take up to an hour (took us 45 minutes one time). I would say it is, as we experiences it, more of a family getaway than a romantic or fun getaway. Not for people looking for continuous activity, loud popping music all day, and load of people. Breezus, right down the street, may be more for you. The Melia does offer some time to bust some moves, but it is not the resorts priority. Definitely helped me relax- I am one of those people who works while on vacation, and this is the first time I did nothing but enjoy my vacation. Would recommend to others FOR SURE. :)
Great staff and the beach is awesome. Comfortable and clean accommodations. Food is excellent. The hotel is right on the beach and if you choose an ocean-view room you can look over the pools and ocean from your balcony. Evening entertainment music can be a bit noisy in the lobby area, but does not invade into your room so if you are an early to bed person you can sleep. This is our third time here and never been disappointed. Hope to return again, maybe next year.
Great value! Room and amenities were clean. The beach and the water were phenomenal! Mal at guest services was incredible. Lil' Mo at the beachside bar is a treat! Only negative thing I have to say is that the Cilantro restaurant is not good at all. Terrible service and terrible food. I wish they would put in an authentic Bahamian restaurant. The No. 10 bus ("jitney") picks you us right out on the street and takes you into downtown for $1.25 per person - 1 way. Buses stop running about 6:00. The Jitneys are the best way to get around. Go eat where the locals eat at Oh Alandros at the Fish Fry. One meal will feed 2 easy and you will both be stuffed! My favorite restaurant by far is the Frozen Paradise on Bay Street close to Senor Frogs. Deangelo is one incredible chef!!!!
