The location of the Meliá Paulista in São Paulo could not be better. The hotel is located in Avenida Paulista, one of the main and largest business centres in Brazil. The list of tourist attractions and establishments nearby is extensive from museums, such as the São Paulo Museum of Art – MASP, to parks, such as the Trianon Park. Access is another advantage of the Meliá Paulista. Nearby there is a metro station, a bus stop and it is easy to hail taxis. Furthermore, the Congonhas airport is only 15 minutes away by car and the International Airport of Guarulhos is 30km away.

"Clean and comfortable but needs to improve wifi and service"
I have stayed at the Melia several times. It is conveniently located and the rooms are clean and comfortable but the service is so slow! The breakfasts are ok, the gym facilities are satisfactory but the wifi was constantly dropping out which made it difficult to get work done.
"Danced to the DJ on New Year's Eve"
I like this hotel and the friendly staff. This a modern, clean and attractive hotel on the Avenida Paulista. We stayed in a suite. We used the fitness center, which is modest, but serviceable. Nice breakfast spread. On New Year's we came back from a friend's party to discover a DJ set up in the bar with a small crowd of enthusiasts and danced til the place shut down .. worth moving delicately for a few days after.
The hotel is in a good location and the price is not too bad, but that's all the positives I have for this hotel. The Front desk is fully dysfunctional, no one picks up the phone and it takes forever to check in and out. I actually had to call them from my mobile to get anyone to pick up the call. There's no 24h room service which in International standards means it is not really a hotel. The elevators broke down and I joined all the guests who had to climb down 20 flights of stairs to come down for dinner. I wanted to call the front desk to understand what was going on and they wouldn't pick up the phone...
"This can't be a 5-star!"
Pluses: excellent location and the friendliest, warmest staff. Very good noise reduction insulation, which is a must in the area. Average: cleanliness. Minuses: room not that big and very dark; funny smell probably coming from old air conditioner; corridors with old carpet and old, stained painting; a very small closet; breakfast edible but much below 5-star-standards. Had trouble connecting the wifi, called the internet provider and help never came. All in all, a good 3-star hotel with bad wi-fi.
The hotel is somewhere between Good and very good. The room was decent and clean. The gym is small and has very little equipment, it is more suited for domestic use. I had an issue with the checking in arrangements. The system insisted on booking me in for one night although I was staying for two. This meant I had to have the key card reset the following day. Breakfast was good.
