The location of the Meliá Paulista in São Paulo could not be better. The hotel is located in Avenida Paulista, one of the main and largest business centres in Brazil. The list of tourist attractions and establishments nearby is extensive from museums, such as the São Paulo Museum of Art – MASP, to parks, such as the Trianon Park. Access is another advantage of the Meliá Paulista. Nearby there is a metro station, a bus stop and it is easy to hail taxis. Furthermore, the Congonhas airport is only 15 minutes away by car and the International Airport of Guarulhos is 30km away.

Great location next to the metro station and night life district, professional staff and take care, the person (Nina) who was standing in the reception gave us the room in top level so it was very good experience to have big picture of Sao Paulo from top flower.
"OK Room, Mobile Robbed Right In Front of Hotel"
Stayed 2 nights (29 Sep - 2 Oct 2016), booked a Classic room on Expedia for about USD91/night not including breakfast. The entrance, lobby and reception area are nice. Check-in was really slow and I couldn't quite understand why as I was the only guests there at the time. Room was good size, bathroom a bit disappointing as the shower is very basic but it's clean and everything worked. Bed is pretty comfortable. The table itself is really small for the size of the room, there is not much space to use with the tv and coffee station on it. Wanted to lock stuffs in the safe, tried a few times according to instructions but didn't work so called the reception, waited about 20 minutes, a staff then came with another safe... !!! Never thought about it much, I had always assumed the safe is either really heavy or fixated to the cabinet, then I realised that the safe is a dummy one that can easily be moved! They replaced one which worked so I guess problem 'fixed'. Had problem with the room key card twice, annoying having to head down to the reception to get another one. Location wise, the hotel is on a main road with a metro station right outside. There are some malls closeby. I was heading back to hotel at around 9:30pm one night, the road was still busy. I was holding my mobile walking on the side of the road and unfortunately a cyclist whizzed past me and grabbed my mobile, so fast it took me a few seconds to realise what happened. It was right outside the hotel. So I went into the reception to inform the staff, he called police right away. I asked about reporting the incident to get a police report (for insurance claim purpose), he tried searching to see whether I could do an online report but seemed unable to do so. I was tired and shaken up and decided to get back to my room as I needed to call home to stop the sim, called banks and retrieve all my trip bookings etc. Wifi connection was decent. Staff, a few really friendly and helpful, especially one, I went to the Vivo store nearby to try getting a local data sim card but the peeps there were super rude and did not speak a word of English. I asked the reception how I could get one, he suggested me to try buying at the newspaper kiosk close to the hotel and wrote a note in Portugese so I could hand over to them. I bought 1 as suggested and took it back to the hotel, he tried to activate for me for ages, although it did not succeed I really appreciated his effort. I wanted a massage and found a place where I could get one, asked the staff to help me call, enquire and check availability, he enthusiastically suggested they could call a masseuse to come give me one in room, with quite a hefty price tag as expected, I decided to stick to the place I looked up and he helped me call and book. Ordered in room dining one night, the tomato and mozzarella starter and the cheesecake dessert were alright. The main, fish with mash were sooooo dry, no sauce at all and quite flavourless. The place seems to be more a business hotel. There was a queue on check-out and it took forever. Overall, looking at the price, I am ok with the room. Services were half great and half ok. It is not their fault my mobile was robbed, I guess it can happen anywhere in Sao Paulo and they did the standard by calling the police. There's just nothing to make the stay a very good one. And just for reference, I ordered Uber to get to the airport at around 3pm, costed 69 Reais and took just under an hour.
"Everything I needed"
Melia Paulista's location can't be beat and the staff were tremendously helpful throughout my stay. My room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was fresh and provided variety of choices each day to keep it interesting.
"Well located but old and not friendly"
I never felt that I was in Brazil at the Melia. Staff always busy. Huge lines at the front desk. Room key cards don't work properly. I had to go to the front desk twice a day.... Rooms need refreshed. Pretty good breakfast. Very well located.
"Well located "
The hotel is doing some efforts on the decoration - the location is perfect right on paulista surrounded with shopping facilities, bars And restaurants. Don't expect the receptionists to speak English this is the minor Problem in this hotel the personnel has a lack of customer experience.
