"Not all the Hilton name usually means"
Booked this hotel via the Hilton website. Arrived and was given a room well before the declared 15:00 check-in time, and that was nice. First impression were not good. I saw a big great hotel on the river with great views over the river, but my room, the elevators, the hallways, the checkin counter all revealed a hard-used and hard-worn hotel For lunch in the restaurant on my first afternoon I was seated at a table whose cloth chairs were torn and a few spots, worn through by hundreds of bums most likely. The cushions were spotted and tired, and the food ultimately reflected that too. The simple phad thai i ordered should have been a non-issue, yet it arrived, wrapped in an omellette and cold in spots - not terribly flavourful. There's a boat that serves the hotel as a shuttle to the local BTS stop - and you can comfortably say that this poor boat has seen better days - at the very least it should be scrubbed and painted. When you are neighbors with the Peninsula hotel, you don't need help in looking bad - and this poor boat... it needs help. But the ride is free. Had dinner with business relations at the hotel restaurant, and my colleagues, all local, derided the food and it's complete lack of taste, (what you get for ordering spaghetti in Thailand I suppose). My fried rice was basic but tasty enough - far from the best ever but not bad. There's a roof bar with an amazing view, and a staggering price list to go with it. There's hip music from a robot and mosquitos, (they aren't too bad) but the breeze is wonderful. I recommend staying away from cocktails - my gin & tonic did not taste right on either night I tried it... Many of the reviews posted here contrast so markedly from what I've written above that it makes me think that I've become a snob in my old age, or that the reviews are paid for and not genuine. You expect more from a Hilton, and this one misses the mark. It's not a 5-star properly - a high 3 or low 4 at best. If you get the hotel for a good price, (less than €90) than you're probably doing ok - and it could be a good location from which to bounce around the river and see the sights.
"Good value for money, great location don't expect 5 star rooms"
The value for money is very good. The location is even better. There is a free hotel shuttle boat connecting you with all important places. The rooftop pool is nice but would need als well as the rooms some renovation. If you are looking for a good deal, this is your hotel. If you are looking for a luxery 5 star experience it's not.
"Rooms not what you see online"
Online they are presented with a nice big photo. Actual room is a simple, tiny cube. Clean.nice bathroom. Just disappointing. Pool tiny, overall what you see is not what you get. Didn't screen get the arrival juice that every other Thai hotel gives.
"Great location and a good price "
Each couple booked a King River view room with buffet breakfast and free Wi Fi. The rooms were spacious and had a nice bath area . Wonderful view from the room !The hotel does a fantastic buffet breakfast - something for everybody. It is a large hotel and is very busy ; however, the staff was always courteous and accommodating. The hotel runs a free shuttle boat throughout the day to take you to the Sky Train - which gets you quickly around the city. The staff was helpful in arranging transportation to our next destination in Hua Hin.
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Every staff member was friendly and courteous, and the room was clean and had a great view looking over the river. Easy access to a great rooftop bar was also a plus. I would stay again here if I go back.
