"Badly in Need of Updating"
The paint in the hallways is peeling. I had a single room with a twin bed, NO night table, no kleenex box although others in my group had kleenex. The note pad was used up and not replaced. The decorative throw on the bed was dirty. The bath tub had bugs or dirt or missing enamel: I didn't explore. A/C didn't work, but heat did, and room was 76 F even with windows open the small amount they allow.
Service was great, very friendly. The sandwiches were nothing special and quite dry around the edges as though they had been sitting out for a while. Tea and coffee was ok - not a huge helping is included in the price. The sweet selection was good especially the carrot cake. We might be back if there is another deal on but there are higher quality options close by.
"Almost top marks "
My daughter and I stayed here on Easter Friday, first impressions were great, the two receptionists on duty were very helpful and had good rapport. The hotel is very clean, spotless in fact. We had a twin room which was of good size, beautiful big bathroom, flat screen tv, ironing board, iron, safe deposit box, trouser press and a large wardrobe, beds were very comfy two. The only three small complaints I have would be, there is no bedside light, so you were either in darkness or the room was very bright. There were no plugs near the bed either, infact only two over near the tv, it's not s big problem but would help if you like to charge your phone near your bed. The wifi wasn't fantastic, we were at the side of the hotel so I don't know if that was maybe the issue, give management their due though, when I called down to ask was there wifi, they reset the router and it did come back on, albeit briefly. All in all I would recommend the Millennium Hotel and I would stay there again. It's very central, loads of taxi's and car parks near by, as with Bars and restaurants, La Vita is a 2 minute walk away, I can highly recommend going there for a meal.
First time visiting the hotel and was very impressed. Had a lovely afternoon tea. We were served by Martin & Gillian who were both very attentive and helpful. We will definitely visit again. Thank you
"Good but not great"
We really like this hotel, but on our recent visit the order for tea and a fruit scone with cream (not complicated) was really poor as the tea arrived about ten minutes before the scone and it was plain and very small and warm as if it had been defrosted in the microwave so I was not impressed. However the staff are lovely and the location is great, so just a little more attention to detail could justify the prices they charge.
