Stayed for 5 nights in this great hotel in November 2014 for a conference. Location just perfect: Copacabana, one of the few hotels with beach service! "Miramar is a great choice"
This hotel is spotlessly clean, very well located (right at Posto 5), and offers exceptional service. We included breakfast in our stay and it was superb -- nice choices for hot food, baked goods, amazing fresh fruit, delicious juices, and of course delicious coffee. Say hi to the doorman Jairan who learned our names at check-in and greeted us every time we passed through the lobby with his friendly smile. Beach service is included and much appreciated. The pool and pool area are small, but we seldom visited as we preferred the beach or sightseeing. There seem to be few Americans in Rio, mostly Latin American or European, but the front desk staff, waiters, and doormen are all prepared with English. Highly recommend.
"Superb hotel in Copacabana"
From the smiling porters and receptionist, the valet parking to the free welcome drink an altogether excellent experience. Clean and comfortable ( large room, great shower), modern, safe. The meal at the restaurant was excellent with an extensive seafood menu, good wine list. Breakfast is really worth a visit. We will be back for sure and already looking forward to it
"High quality, high service and perfect location"
I enjoyed my stay even more than last year. Staff was very professional, my room with view on the Copacabana and especially the quality of room service was great! Never had before warm room service in other hotels, but this time twice warm, fresh food. The location of the hotel is great, so enjoy your stay! Thanks Miramar!
"Disappointing, expected more !!!"
My partner and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights, we had a good start with champagne and porters were very friendly at all times. We booked a " superior double bed" with partially ocean view. I guess "superior" was just the price and it was literately partial view , almost nothing I would say. Hotel was quiet noisy, I could hear people walking/talking on the corridors, slamming doors etc. When we are choosing hotels we considered Miramar coz they clearly advertised " late check out" available which we found very interesting as our flight back to U.K was late and we wouldn't need to wait much at the airport. When we asked to stay 2 hours more then our original check out time we were told that our room was already booked and we would have to check out at 12. No options were given , we just wanted to enjoy the sun longer and take a shower before heading to the airport but it seems quite an absurd or too much hassle to the staff at the front desk. After asking for the third time, my partner insisted that we wanted to check out later and we were given a small room which was great for the shower we needed. I felt very uncomfortable coz it seemed that we were disturbing and I think that costumer should never ever feel uncomfortable. My partner and I love working out and what they called " fitness centre" seemed inviting, in fact there are 2-3 running machines and 1 other equipment, not really what we were expecting. Last but not least on our last day my partner found a worm in his guava, which was pretty disgusting. I know that guava is a tropical fruit that worms are easily found but it is quite unacceptable and the fact that nobody come back to say sorry or an explanation why that have happened made us more upset. I would never go back, for the price we paid, the service should be much better. Staff in general were friendly but 2/3 people were so rude or disinterested that it's not helping the hotel.
"Amazing hotel but a few small issues "
I visited here in mid November. The reception staff were very friendly on our arrival and we were given a glass of champagne which was much needed. The hotel is very smart with a nice design and decor. There's lots of marble! Our room was lovely with a view of Copacabana beach. We had all the mod cons you need and the bathroom was lovely including ample toiletries. The bed was very comfortable (and big) and we had a large bath and shower. There were also a couple of comfy seats to relax in. The roof top bar was impressive and the service there - as well as throughout the hotel - was always helpful and friendly. The porters were especially helpful and always said hello. I was impressed by the breakfast - foods of all types, as well as prosecco, omelettes made to order and much more. It is probably the best hotel breakfast I have ever seen! We had a meal in the restaurant which was nice (see separate review) and lunch on the roof, which was simple but nice. The hotel is - of course - very close to Copacabana, as well as Ipanema and the sites and attractions of Rio. There is also a cab rank outside which is helpful. The turn down service was a lovely addition. I would officially give this a 4.5 out of five for two reasons: 1. We asked for a high level floor - booked more than two months in advance - but got the third floor! 2. I found the hotel more noisy than I would have expected - the room doors are heavy and bang when people leave for breakfast or come home at night. You can also hear people talking in the corridors and cleaners cleaning. I would definitely go back!
