"Attention to detail lets 4* hotel down"
Hotel was really clean and the rooms were really quiet and were large and spacious. The reception girls didn't really have great customer service skills and this was evident when I explained that my room had tea/coffee equipment and sachets but there was no milk pots or sachet's,when I asked the girls on reception about this they just said that's how it is and didn't offer to get milk from the restaurant they just gave me more sachets of tea/coffee,even 2* hotels have pots/sachets as standard which are replenished daily as at £100 a night this should be a standard service. I had to ask a person in the restaurant for milk. The WiFi code I was given which was free for the duration of my stay lasted 24 hours but when I spoke to the girls again the next day to ask for a new WiFi code as the one I had didn't work they just gave me a piece of paper with codes on it without checking to see if the codes were active.when I got to my room and entered the WiFi codes given the codes did not work and this was due to the fact they had expired,i didn't go to reception again as travelling up and down 3 floors is not what you expectto do in a 4* hotel and expect the service to be excellent for their customers which I did not find happened on my weekend away with my wife. The bathroom was large and clean but the bath plug did not disperse the water quick enough and when having a shower made the bath fill up really quickly. Overall a nice hotel but they need to concentrate on attention to detail that other hotels do as being a 4* hotel I would have expected more superior customer service and not a 2* approach.
"Nowhere in particular but OK"
We were sold on the 3 night package linked to the local (> 30 minutes by car!) Outletcity Metzingen. The Outletcity is a complete waste of time as reviewed. Of course hardly anything is open on Sunday & with a small dog entrance to many attractions is not possible. A modern hotel in a not especially special location. Quite close to a tram stop for central Stuttgart - which again is about 30 minutes drive away. Good breakfast – hot & cold. They waiting staff will bring endless glasses of latte macchiato. You can certainly eat enough to keep you going all day. The gym. On the second floor. In the evening the lighting is low so it’s difficult to read the faint red letters that tell you its the fitness centre. Anyway, I figured it where it was after some trial and error with my room key. A world’s first' - no running machine! & the weight stations are all stand-up only. Never seen this before either. The TV in the gym had no remote control but in the middle under the screen is a single pad for controlling the TV- channels –sound everything – very clever design. The parking can be conveniently accessed directly from one of the hotel lifts but it is not free. 17 € per day. 300 € for 2 people including breakfast was a good deal. Would not want to pay the full price of 608 €.
"Great service, middling ameneties"
The service is excellent, but the hard beds and annoying internet service adds to the annoyances. They neither have free wifi or a paid wifi system, instead they have certificates that are time and data driven. If you exceed it, the front desk sends you a new certificate code to continue wifi service. I'd almost rather have a coin-op quarter system if we're going to be archaic and inconvenient.
I think, there is very good place in Vaihingen. Comfortable, cheap. Also, I can say that between Arcona and Train station distance are approx. 15 min with walking. Bus station is so close. Eventually, there is very ideal for business trip.
"Okay for a few days - 4* is questionable!"
I have stayed here a few times for business as its close to my office and for no other reason. It's always close to a few nice restaurants and amenities which helps when you are away for a few days or more. The room service menu is very limited, although when it came it was hot but my food wasn't covered up on the trolley so who knows what it encountered on its travels!!! My water bottles in my room weren't replenished on day two or three and my dirty coffee cup wasn't cleaned either it was still on the table - but the tissue in the tissue box was folded neatly each day!!! The towels aren't on the generous size so you may need two or more after a shower. My colleague described the beds as comfortable as the park bench - mmmm say no more. The staff are polite, friendly and professional the restaurant is quite good and it's very clean which speaks volumes.
