"Best Indoor/Outdoor Grand Room in LA"
It's been 8 years since my last stay in the Mondrian and my favorite soothing Philiippe Starck minimal white marble room decor has made way for wild partying Baroque. The room decor is not my favorite, and yes some of the finishes are getting a bit worn but the basics are still terrific and the restaurant and bar spaces are beyond beautiful. Sweeping views of LA from an airy, soaring, plant filled grand room that worked like magic in the pounding LA rain. Malin+Goetz toiletries are always welcome and the bed was super comfortable. Lobster omelette is highly recommended. Downside - $8 espresso, a whiff of something sour from the bathroom, no way to make tea in the rooms and not-quite-blockout blinds. None of that would stop me from booking again - the location, the comfort, the food and the shared spaces are worth it.
"Trendy & Hip LA Vibe"
What a great place to stay to feel the real LA. The rooms are incredible, we had a great view of the city and the hotel's pool. With the trendy vibe, you feel like a hollywood superstar sneaking around one of the city's coolest hide-outs. Even my mum (50+) felt the same and thoroughly enjoyed her stay! Wouldn't recommend using their valet, as there are alternate options nearby for half the price (however you have to walk 5 minutes to the hotel). Otherwise, the service is excellent and the hotel is extremely accommodating (less the rip-off cost for WiFi). The hotel is in a convenient location, however not much to see within walking distance. Would advise hiring a car for the most convenient way to get around LA. I would stay here again!
I stayed there for a Business trip for 6 days, and the location is central. The skybar is not on a roof top. It is nice, but not spectacular. I took a nice suite which was very confortable, very clean, nothing was dated. Breafast was ok, nothing spectacular. Concierge was nice and effective. I asked them to post me a letter, but they sent me to the post office... cheap shot. Overolll i recommend it. It is funky, practical, hip, nice and clean.
"Unbeatable Service In La-La Land"
Wow!! I'm still in my room at the Mondrian while writing this, and don't want to leave this unprecedent establishment. My husband and I have been coming here regularly for years. It's a tad hidden when you 1st pull in- just be in the lookout. I raved so much about the Mondrian to my 2 friends that they were ecstatic upon arrival. Unfortunately, there was a hiccup upon check-in. It was Grammy weekend, and we came specifically for the pool and Skybar, as well as seeing a concert at the Palladium. We were notified that the pool and Skybar were closed due to a private party. Much to our dismay, we were all disappointed. At one point, we were on the phone with a competitor, to see if we could stay elsewhere. That's when David Lozano, Assistant Front Office Manager stepped in. I personally have worked in customer service for 22 years, and let me tell you, he had a real challenge keeping part of the group happy. Through David's professional, quick, and "can-do" attitude, we ended up staying. I have regained all my faith in the Mondrian, due to this. He went above and beyond the call of duty, thus making us all have one of the best stays ever here, or any hotel for that matter. I cannot recommend the Mondrian enough. Shopping, dining, lounging, or living it up, you won't find a better place on Sunset. Thank you David Lozano, and all Mondrian staff who assisted (Mallory, Tara, and Christian in the restaurant-Ivory in Sunset). I look forward to countless return visits.
"Very good customer service, although rooms are different from expectations."
I stayed at Mondrian with my partner for a few days in August, to relax and rest in California's sun. Our first impression after seeing our standard room was that online pictures were misleading, and the general look was not that elegant and fresh "I want to be here", but rather old-school and relaxed one. However, we presented our concerns to the front desk and received excellent assistance, which resulted in us staying in a studio room. It was still different than that New York style that we were used to, but definitely made us feel good with its spaciousness and overall quality. The front desk staff, especially Fred, proved helpful, kind and understanding. Overall, we managed to enjoy sunny Hollywood just as we wanted.
