It's been a month and a half, so the exact mistakes made by the servers at the Montage restaurant high up overlooking the pool and the ocean are fading from memory. For instance, ordered Long Island Iced tea. The waitress got it right, I believe, but by the time it got passed over to the next person, who brought it to me, it had become an iced tea. Ordered a medium burger and after a long while was told that they had to cook another one because the first was burnt to a crisp. There was actually a couple other mistakes similar in nature, in addition. But the servers were so unfailingly courteous and cheerful I never felt like making a big deal out of it. And I remember when they brought the final check, knowing they had made all the errors they had made, I think they ended up giving me the drink and the burger for free, or something like that, so the overall the price went down about $50. So I expected to sit in on the balcony overlooking an awesome view, receiving impeccable service, and to pay an arm and a leg for it. Instead I received not-so-impeccable service, and didn't pay an arm and a leg for it, and still got to sit on the balcony relishing an awesome view while eating and drinking reasonably well. The experience, as a whole, leaves me wanting to stay there for a day or two as a guest...
"The most amazing escape from reality"
Our second time there. Incomparable service. Incredible views. Amazing food and wine. All one could ask for in a resort. Yes it's expensive but you get what you pay for here. Look forward to going back.
World class service and amenities. Beautiful location on beach. Studio restaurant is classy and intimate and right next to the water. Took advantage of complimentary transportation to downtown. Next time I'm in the area, I will definitely stay here. Expensive but reasonable all things considered.
"Unparalleled service "
Gorgeous property, but what makes this place is the service. Every single person goes out of their way to make you feel special and cater to your needs, I almost felt embarrassed at times. Service like no other place I've been to. Food is outstanding, as is the spa. This really is an amazing hotel, have no hesitation in recommending. It's expensive for sure, but boy do you get what you paid for. Rooms are clean, spacious and beds are comfy. Loved staying here, will be back :)
"Ask about huge groups before Booking!!"
My husband and I stayed at the montage on a business trip years ago, and had been about to pop to return in the future with our kids. Such a mistake. We were on a trip from San Diego to LA, and planned the entire itinerary around our middle night here, even arriving before noon to check in early and hit the incredible pool. Unfortunately, a group of hundreds was also staying and had taken over every avail space, like a swarm of humans in the water and all the chairs. The staff finally found us an isolated spot for four by the hot tub. Totally disappointing with little view and then, best of all, guests started popping down and discussing matters there not fit for our teenagers ears. (The drunk groom who came later with a different group talking about how the jets made his body parts feel was the best. NOT! And we had no where else to sit!) All in all, the stop was a waste of time, energy, and ESP money. The food and service and room was delightful, but not In light of the huge huge room cost, and our disastrous daylong leisure experience. We had planned on staying part of the next day at the pool, but left instead bc the group was still there. Just not worth it! Such a shame and made me so sad after all those years of excitement.
